Lymington to Milford-on-sea - The Solent Way - Weekend Walk 40
The final stage of the East-West Solent Way, from Lymington, past the marina and into the nature reserve, past ancient salterns dating back to Roman times, to Keyhaven. From Keyhaven one can take the ferry to Hurst Castle, to save a there and back walk along the spit. Once out at the castle, it's less than a mile to the Isle of Wight, with many craft including powerboats navigating the strong currents, with views to The Needles. The walk finishes at the green of the pleasant village of Milford.

Beaulieu to Lymington - The Solent Way - Weekend Walk 39
From the Hampshire village of Beaulieu to the town of Lymington, the Solent Way proceeds south then west. At first it follows the bank of the Beaulieu River to Bucklers Hard, where many of Nelson's fleet was built. Two unique terraces of Georgian houses survive. The path then head inland to St Leonards Grange, Sowley and Walhampton, with its oversized monument. The walk finishes in maritime Lymington, with its cobbled streets and historic quay. It was surprising to see the wild (if owned) donkeys of the New Forest right there on the streets of Beaulieu.
Wild Camping on The Solent Way. Part One. Milford on Sea to Hill Head. Sept 2017.
A 60 mile coastal path from Millford on Sea to Emsworth Harbour. Pt 1 starts at Millford on Sea and ends at Hill head just over 30miles.
The Reformation in Tudor England was a time of unprecedented change. One of the major outcomes of the Reformation was the destruction of the monasteries which began in 1536.
The Reformation came about when Henry VIII wished to divorce his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, who had failed to give him a male heir. When the Pope refused to grant the divorce, Henry set up the Church of England. The Act of Supremacy in 1534 confirmed the break from Rome, declaring Henry to be the Supreme Head of the Church of England.
The monasteries were a reminder of the power of the Catholic Church. It was also true that the monasteries were the wealthiest institutions in the country, and Henry’s lifestyle, along with his wars, had led to a lack of money. Monasteries owned over a quarter of all the cultivated land in England. By destroying the monastic system Henry could acquire all its wealth and property whilst removing its Papist influence.
On this trip i visit Beaulieu Abbey, Netley Abbey, Calshot, Hurst and Netley castles.

Solent Way - Lee-on-Solent to Warsash - Weekend Walk 35
Continuing the Solent Way after a break for winter, this is the fourth stage. I started around 10am from Lee on Solent, past Hill Head, Titchfield Haven, Meon Shore, Brownwich Cliffs, Chilling Cliffs, Hook, and on to Warsash. From just north of the village, the Solent Way goes via ferry to Hamble, but I stopped today on the eastern shore. On the way I saw dogs (many), jetskis, birds, helicopters, the Isle of Wight, the nature reserve, erodind cliffs, fawley power station, oil refinery, and the village of Warsash. Hurst Castle UK Milford on Sea, Lymington
Hurst Castle UK is an artillery fort established by Henry VIII on the Hurst Spit in Hampshire, England, between 1541 and 1544. It formed part of the king's Device Forts coastal protection programme against invasion from France and the Holy Roman Empire, and defended the western entrance to the Solent waterway. The early castle had a central keep and three bastions, and in 1547 was equipped with 26 guns. It was expensive to operate due to its size, but it formed one of the most powerful forts along the coast. During the English Civil War of the 1640s, Hurst was held by Parliament and was used briefly to detain King Charles I before his execution in 1649. It continued in use during the 18th century but fell into disrepair, the spit being frequented by smugglers.
Repairs were made during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars with France, and the castle was modernised to enable it to hold 24-pounder (10.8 kg) guns. Fresh fears of invasion followed in the 1850s, leading to heavier, 32-pounder (14.5 kg) armament being installed and new gun batteries being laid out on both sides of the castle. Technological developments rapidly made these defences obsolete, however, and a fresh phase of work between 1861 and 1874 created sixty-one gun positions in two long, granite-faced batteries alongside the older castle. These held very heavy weapons, including massive 12.5 inch, 38 ton (317 mm, 39,000 kg) rifled muzzle-loading guns. As the century progressed, these too became outdated and lighter, quick-firing guns were installed at the castle to replace them.
The castle formed part of a network of defences around the entrance to the Solent during the First World War, and was re-armed again during the Second World War. The military decommissioned the fort in 1956 and it passed into the control of the Ministry of Works. In the 21st century, it is run jointly by English Heritage and the Friends of Hurst Castle as a tourist attraction, receiving around 40,000 visitors during 2015. Coastal erosion has become a growing problem despite government intervention to protecting the spit. Four lighthouses have been built at Hurst from the 18th century onwards, one of which, a high lighthouse first opened in 1867, remains in active service. mavic 2 pro drone.

Lymington, Milford & Mudeford South Coast Easter 2019
A long 30 minute video that was supposed to be about Amateur Radio, my hobby.
Its Easter 2019, The first Holiday for the UK and the weather is INCREDIBLE.
However the moment took over and it ended up being mainly a video about the Western Solent area between Lymington and Mudeford.
I have been here before, many times but mainly by sea. There is a huge part of the video which is Ted & I walking up the high St of Lymington and back down.
I chose to include this as I thought people may like to see it.
I hope you enjoy this as we really enjoyed our few days down south.
