M/Ss of the Orient Liner ship Orontes as it arrives at Southampton docks, bringing the 1938 Australian cricket team to England. On the deck of the ship, Team Manager Mr Heanes says how happy they are to be there and introduces each player (natural sound) as we pan across the line of men - Stanley McCabe, Arthur Chipperfield, Chuck Fleetwood-Smith, Bill O'Reilly, Ernie McCormick, Ted White, Sid Barnes, Jack Fingleton, Lindsay Hassett, Don Bradman, Jack Badcock, Ben Barnett, Frank Ward, Bill Brown, Mervyn Waite. Most of the men look rather bashful as they are introduced - quite endearing!
Bill Jeanes ends by saying they are sure they will be playing some good cricket during this season and he hopes everyone will enjoy it.
Note: spellings of names may be incorrect; they don't appear in the paperwork so have been taken down from the soundtrack.
