118 Walking the South Downs Way Part 1 Winchester to East Meon Sustainability Centre Camping
The first part of my South Downs Way walk from Winchester to East Meon. This is re-edited and re-uploaded as I accidentally deleted the original. camping in my British army bivvy bad and under my DD Tarp.
The Sustainability Centre
A brief glimpse of life and work at the Sustainability Centre, based in the South Downs National Park near Petersfield. The Sustainability Centre is an educational centre teaching and training all ages in all areas of sustainability.
With our position in the heart of the South Downs National Park, The Sustainability Centre could not enjoy a more idyllic setting.
The Centre is spread across 55 acres of woodland and natural chalk downland. Indeed, the sheer beauty of our surroundings is an enduring reminder of the importance of our work and goals. We are owned by a charity, the Earthworks Trust, which was established in 1995.
The Sustainability Centre aims to educate, enable and inspire people from all walks of life to make positive changes to the way they live and work.
As part of this vision we aim to manage our land, our charity and our businesses as working examples of sustainability.
We practise and promote sustainability as a process of making decisions which balance economic, social and environmental factors for positive benefit.
We nurture people and ideas. And in an increasingly uncertain world, we aim to provide positive messages and practical solutions for dynamic, creative change.
In pursuing this goal, we welcome families and schools; professionals and special interest groups; walkers and cyclists on the South Downs Way; children and young people; and simply anyone with an interest in what we do.

Creating affordable living accommodation in London
Jack Simmons debates density and tenure as the answer to London's residential shortage.
Mill Barrow Down to Soberton - Wayfarers Walk - Weekend Walk 63
A proper South Downs Walk. Continuing along the long distance path from the downs south of Kilmeston, along a bit of the South Downs Way before cutting south past Lomer, Preshaw, the legendary Betty Mundy's Bottom and Corhampton Down, noisy that day with the shooting. The path then heads in a more easterly direction past Corhampton golf course and onto Fir Down above Droxford. After the village we cross the River Meon and follow the water meadows to the small village of Soberton. Outside the White Lion pub I met a white cat, who I was told is deaf and blind.
