Lawang Nakamamatay |Kyshtym Disaster | Nuclear Accident | Kasaysayan

Meteorite hits Russia - footage - compilation 2/15/2013
Asteroid 2012 DA14 cluster hits earth. Scientist claimed there was no chance earth would get hit - apparently they didn't think about clusters and fragments. Perhaps there is something they are not telling us. Rare footage. The chance of a different (unknown) meteor hitting at the same time are like the odds of you winning the lottery jackpot 2x back to back.
video sources were general copyright and should be free to use.
Morning of February 15, 2013, began in Chelyabinsk loudly and clearly. Earth literally shook after the flash in the sky. Thanks to the DVR can record up to a second call time appears in the sky puzzle - 9 hours 26 minutes 23 seconds local time.
Having seen flying through the sky fireball and could not believe it, many residents of the Urals immediately jumped out of their cars and started to watch the video from on-board cameras. On one record shows that the driver almost lost control of his car.
Meteorite light up on the webcam on one of the city's intersections. For a few seconds, city life just disappears out of the frame - very powerful flash. Many people missed work this morning.
In the first minutes after the scare of the accident, no one understood what had happened. Initially, residents were divided into two camps - some have argued that the culprit was the commotion comet, meteor or even a mysterious celestial body. Others spoke of the man-made emergency - the crash or other aircraft. However, MOE quickly made clear: this is really an alien visitor.
Meteorite entered the atmosphere over Kazakhstan, passed over Tyumen, Kurgan and Sverdlovsk regions - in all these regions, it is also seen. It exploded in the air and fell into the 80 kilometers from Satka Chelyabinsk region. The landing of space guest already found.
Residents of the Chelyabinsk region share photos with broken stacks and broken window panes. According to official reports of those killed and seriously injured has not been discovered. In one of the rural schools in the Chelyabinsk region, four student suffered minor injuries - cuts fragments ejected by the sound wave. Part of the meteorite landed in a zinc plant building, hit the wall of the warehouse.

DA-14 IS A SMALL METEOR DUE TO PASS BY TOMORROW. NOT LARGE ENOUGH TO CAUSE ANY TIDAL PROBLEMS AS SOME MORONS HAVE STATED, AND NOT ON COURSE WITH EARTH EITHER... BUT ON IT'S WAY THERE ARE FRAGMENTS BOTH AHEAD AND BEHIND. THIS FRAGMENT IS HOPEFULLY THE LAST WE'LL SEE BUT WHO KNOWS.

BTW; I don't know why this warehouse has a hole, but most likely it was caused by the sonic boom, not from an impact. The meteor did not seem to become a meteorite by finding earth, rather it burnt up into dust before it could even reach the ground. This is the case with most, especially those that strike the atmosphere at such a slight angle.

BELARUS: RUSSIA HELPS RESOLVE A TENSE POLITICAL STANDOFF
Russian/Eng/Nat
Russia has helped resolve a tense political standoff in neighbouring Belarus, persuading its president Alexander Lukashenko to compromise with politicians who were threatening to oust him.
After overnight meetings with Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, parliament said it would drop impeachment proceedings against Lukashenko.
Lukashenko, in turn, agreed that a controversial referendum to expand his already considerable powers will be nonbinding.
But pro and anti-Lukashenko demonstrators continued to surround the Belarus parliament building Friday, despite the compromise reached during the night.
Russia, after flexing its diplomatic muscle to defuse an ugly political crisis across the border in Belarus, took credit for a successful compromise on Friday.
Moscow's intervention came before a referendum on Sunday in which President Alexander Lukashenko intended to seek much wider powers.
But Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin and his mediators were able to convince the Belarus President to soften his stance and defuse the political tension.
After overnight meetings with high-level mediators from Moscow - including Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin - parliament said it would drop impeachment proceedings against President Alexander Lukashenko.
And Lukashenko was persuaded to accept that a referendum on expanding his powers, planned for Sunday, would not be legally binding.
The resulting agreements were signed by all parties.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
The constitutional court of Belarus on 22 November 1996 is halting the procedure of impeachment of the President.
SUPERCAPTION: President Alexander Lukashenko
Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin welcomed the positive progress that was made and said he believed it signified the end of the political stand-off.
Demonstrators continued to surround the Belarus parliament building Friday despite the compromise reached between Belarus President Lukashenko and the parliament.
Several hundred pro and anti-Lukashenko refused to leave.
Pro-parliament supporters believe Lukashenko is a dangerous man with too much power, a view also held by the leader of the Belarus Popular Front Party.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
I have no illusions according to this parliament which has a communist majority, but we see that Mr Lukashenko tries to liquidate any parliament, tries to liquidate the constitutional card, tries, he is striving to a dictatorship of Hitler style.
SUPER CAPTION: Lyavon Borshevsky, Leader of the Belarus Popular Front
But others were of a different opinion.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
I'm for disbanding parliament, what is this, I don't understand, see what happens in Moscow. Yeltsin did exactly what he should have done (by disbanding the Russian parliament) so then why can't Lukashenko do the same.
SUPER CAPTION: Maria Tereshuk, Communist Supporter
Under the agreement signed Friday, a Constitutional Assembly of representatives from both sides will be formed to work out an acceptable draft constitution, taking into account the referendum results.
Lukashenko will head the assembly, and has agreed not to disband parliament during the three months the commission has to come up with a draft.

SUMMARY
=======
Yekaterinburg ( yih-KAT-ər-in-burg; Russian: Екатеринбу́рг, IPA: [jɪkətʲɪrʲɪnˈburk]), alternatively romanized Ekaterinburg, is the fourth-largest city in Russia and the administrative centre of Sverdlovsk Oblast, located on the Iset River east of the Ural Mountains, in the middle of the Eurasian continent, on the Asian side of the boundary between Asia and Europe. It is the main cultural and industrial centre of the oblast. In 2018, it had an estimated population of 1,501,652. Yekaterinburg has been dubbed the third capital of Russia, as it is ranked third by the size of economy, culture, transportation and tourism. It is located about 1,420 kilometres (880 mi) to the east of Moscow.
The region was settled and developed by Novgorodians already in the 11th century.
Yekaterinburg was founded on 18 November 1723 and named after the Russian emperor Peter the Great's wife, who after his death became Catherine I, Yekaterina being the Russian form of her name. The city served as the mining capital of the Russian Empire as well as a strategic connection between Europe and Asia at the time. In 1781, Catherine the Great gave Yekaterinburg the status of a district town of Perm Province, and built the main road of the Empire, the Siberian Route, through the city. Yekaterinburg became a key city to Siberia, which had rich resources, and was known as the window to Asia, a reference to Saint Petersburg as a window to Europe. In the late 19th century, Yekaterinburg became one of the centres of revolutionary movements in the Urals. In 1924, after Russia became a socialist state, the city was named Sverdlovsk (Russian: Свердло́вск) after the Bolshevik leader Yakov Sverdlov. During the Soviet era, Sverdlovsk was turned into an industrial and administrative powerhouse. In 1991, after the fall of the Soviet Union, the city returned to its historical name.
Yekaterinburg is one of the most important economic centres in Russia, and the city had experienced economic and population growth recently. Some of the tallest buildings in Russia are located in the city.
Time of DDT - Part 1 of 4
(for English subtitles, make sure that the closed captioning (CC) button at the bottom of the video menu is turned on)
A translation of the documentary Время ДДТ (Time of DDT), which traces the history of Russia's premier rock band, DDT, in the first two decades of its existence. This first part (of four) covers the Ufa period of the band's history, from 1980 to 1985. This sees the band start from humble beginnings - but gaining audience attention was the least of their worries, as Shevchuk and company realize that their message is not welcome by oppressive Soviet authorities. DDT thus have to survive not just audiences and critics, but also the pervasive censorship and the KGB secret police. Thus starts the story of a small rock-n-roll group...
A highly recommended viewing to anyone not just interested in DDT, but Russian rock music, culture and recent history generally - it provides a very personal, candid perspective on the lives and struggles of some very difficult times in the lives of free-thinking people in the country.

The project provisionally titled “Forgotten Leaders” is a series of seven films, each featuring an individual from the leaders of the Soviet state in power during the time period from 1920 to 1953. SUMMARY
=======
The Tatars (; Tatar: татарлар; Russian: татары) are a Turkic-speaking peoples living mainly in Russia and other Post-Soviet countries. The name Tatar first appears in written form on the Kul Tigin monument as ???????????? (Ta-tar). Historically, the term Tatars was applied to anyone originating from the vast Northern and Central Asian landmass then known as the Tartary, which was dominated by various mostly Turco-Mongol semi-nomadic empires and kingdoms. More recently, however, the term refers more narrowly to people who speak one of the Turkic languages.
The Mongol Empire, established under Genghis Khan in 1206, allied with the Tatars. Under the leadership of Genghis Khan's grandson Batu Khan (c. 1207–1255), the Mongols moved westwards, driving with them many of the Mongol tribes toward the plains of Kievan Rus'. The Tatar clan still exists among the Mongols, Hazaras and Uzbeks. The largest group by far that the Russians have called Tatars are the Volga Tatars, native to the Volga region (Tatarstan and Bashkortostan), who for this reason are often also simply known as Tatars. They compose 53% of population in Tatarstan. Their language is known as the Tatar language. As of 2002 they had an estimated population around 5 million in Russia as a whole. There is a common belief that Russians and Tatars are closely intermingled, illustrated by the famous saying scratch any Russian just a little and you will discover a Tatar underneath and the fact that a number of noble families in Tsardom of Russia and Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth had Tatar origins; however, genetics show that majority of Russians form a cluster with Northern and Eastern Europeans (especially Belarusians, Ukrainians and Poles), and are relatively far from Tatar peoples. In modern-day Tatarstan, however, Russian-Tatar marriages are very common.Current day Tatars comprise a range of physical appearances, from Mongoloid to Caucasoid.
