TAIPEI: EXPLORING Historic FORT SANTO DOMINGO ????️ (Tamsui), TAIWAN
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go for a brief tour of this historic fort, located one hour north of the beautiful capital of Taiwan, Taipei. Taiwan, 180km east of China, is known for modern cities, traditional Chinese temples, hot springs resorts and dramatic mountainous terrain. Taipei, in the north, has a number of busy night markets, as well as Chinese Imperial art at the National Palace Museum. Taipei 101, a 509m-tall, bamboo-shaped skyscraper with an observation deck, rises above the city.

Tamsui, New Taipei City, Taiwan - Not Just About Food 淡水不只有美食
Tamsui, the historical sea port of Taipei, is in fact one of the best tourist area in Northern Taiwan, also very accessible. Do not waste your time on main streets for food only! I recommend people take buses (Line R26 or 836) from the MRT station to Hobe Fort, then slowly walk back to MRT station, passing by various spots on the way. On the weekend Line 836 would drive directly to the fort. On weekdays you'll have to walk 200 meters from the riverbank bus stop to the fort. You can buy one single ticket (80 NTD) for Hobo fort, Fort San Domingo and Custom Officer's Residence in any of these places.

Former warehouse of Lapraik Cass & Co:
Remember to get your map at the MRT station. They also have a tourist information center there. Noted that a few places (for example, Tamsui Itteki Memorial House, some buildings in Aletheia University, and the Lapraik Cass & Co warehouse) might be closed on Sunday and/or Monday.
(No, I didn't go to Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf and Lover's Bridge in this video, because they are too far from all other places. It's a nice place to see sunset, then again there's virtually nothing else around to see. However, you can still take buses or boats to there if you want.)

Soloing the Tamsui Lover Bridge: A Guide to New Taipei City
This is one of the highlights of of Taiwan and it is highly recommended that you go, especially if you're a couple.
There is a big focus on... love and stuff in this area.
So finally, here is our of the first stops. We’re at a place called …. 淡水河 Danshui / Tamsui Lover’s Bridge.
This view is absolutely amazing. It’s located in the Tamsui District, New Taipei City and it lies on the Tamsui River estuary.
In the early days of Taiwan, this was an important harbor for fishing in Northern Taiwan.
The sources of the water is from the combination of the.. .Xindian Creek and the Dahan Creek and this joint river flows north and into the Taiwan Strait. Overall, the Tamsui river goes 159 km (99 in freedom units)(ZOOM IN ON FACE) long. However, the water is heavily polluted due to the industry and sewage in the area.
Remember what I said about bringing your lover with you? yeah... turns out, bad idea! haha. Rumors have it that if you cross with them, you will break up. Oops.
The name though comes from the day of its opening on February 14, 2003, aka Valentine’s day. It’s a beautiful 196 meter bridge though and takes a few minutes to walk across.
If you’re ever in Taiwan, check out the area here. The beautiful water and coast really soothes the soul and the bite from the wind is great in the summer

Tamsui is an historical town located at mouth of the Tamsui River esturay. (this river runs through Taipei City)
Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf A beautiful Night View
Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf A beautiful Night View
Tamsui Station (淡水)
Located at the northern tip of Taiwan, Tamsui is located along the north coast about 40 minutes from Taipei by MRT and very accessible as a day trip, especially popular with locals during the weekend. Home to a variety of western colonial, Japanese, southern Fujianese, and native Taiwanese cultural and architectural attractions, Tamsui is a must visit location for all visitors to the Taipei area.
Most renowned for its amazing sunset landscape, Tamsui is home to a large array of restaurants, cafés, shops, hawker stalls, street performers, traditional cultural performances, and is the gateway to Taiwan's scenic North Coast.
A special attraction ticket for tourists is available for NT$80, permitting access to Tamsui Museum, Hongmao Cheng, Tamsui Customs House Museum, and Hobe Fort.
Within the past few years, the official English spelling of the town has reverted to Tamsui, a Romanization of the Taiwanese Hokkien version of the town's name, roughly pronounced in Hokkien as dǎm zwèe. This change only occurred in English, as the large majority of people still refer to the town by its Mandarin name of dànshuǐ. On signage, Tamsui may be referred to as Danshui, Tansui, Tamshui, or any similar variant.
How to get there:
Take the Red Line 2 to Tamsui (淡水), the northern terminus station. Upon exiting the station, turn left to reach Tamsui Old Streetand the waterfront.

Taiwan 02 Tamsui & Bali part 1
Taiwan is a very attractive country for people who like to travel around and see interesting places instead of laying on far away or busy beaches.
In the past my family and I only visited the main cities of Taiwan like Taipei, Keelung, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung always carrying our baggage with us.
In recent years we discovered it is more relaxed to stay a couple days in one city before going to the next city and take a local train or regional bus every day to discover smaller places and areas around the bigger cities. Public transport and taxis in Taiwan are relatively cheap compared to the rates in Europe so the daily surprise trips are affordable.
With the video series “Attractive Taiwan – Interesting places” we want to share our impressions of the surprise places we have visited in the past years which can be seen as suggestions to others when planning a holiday to Taiwan.
We hope you will enjoy watching each video.
THE RED CASTLE, TAIWAN (淡水紅毛城)
Hi guys, if you are traveling to Taiwan, you can visit The Red Castle in Danshui, New Taipei City. Across the Red Castle is the Tamsui Customs Wharf, there's also a new attraction there called (玫瑰花海).
Plus, there's a lot more in Danshui to explore!!!
As in!!! ????????????
TIPS: If you are visiting Taiwan, the best seasons to come is Spring (MARCH-MAY), Autumn ( SEPTEMBER-NOVEMBER) & Winter ( DECEMBER-FEBRUARY), because Summer (JUNE-AUGUST is so hot here.
We will show you more of Taiwan in our upcoming Taiwanderful Episodes! ????
Let's Keep In Touch!
Don't forget to like, comment, share and subscribe!

2019 Mazu Homecoming Festival | Jinshan District, Taiwan
On Sunday, March 20th, Peter, Taylor, and I went to Jinshan District to participate in the 210th anniversary of the Mazu Homecoming Festival.
This is an informational video explaining everything I learned about Mazu and rituals to celebrate her. If you want to know more about a uniquely Taiwanese festival, praying routines, and see traditional performances, this video is just for you!
