Locally owned by the Teichmiller family since 1995!
Norwood Pines Supper Club in Minocqua is not your average restaurant. Not only is the food better than at your everyday dining spot, but it also has plenty of unique stories to tell. The restaurant has been open since the late 1930s and in that time has had more than 15 owners. None were successful until brothers Tom and John Teichmiller took the place over in 1995.
Upon taking possession of the building, they were given a stern warning from the banker who owned the property. He informed them that not only was the restaurant allegedly cursed, but that it was also supposedly haunted by a ghost.
During the period of time that the bank owned the establishment, the banker would check on it a couple of times. He ended up taking a junior banker with him after a while because he got freaked out a number of times and was not coming in here alone. jokes John Teichmiller.
Legend has it that the restaurant is haunted by a man named Edgar. He supposedly was a guest who died while staying at the hotel that used to be above the current supper club. To this day, staff and customers claim to see Edgar roaming about the restaurant. While neither John or Tom say they have ever seen Edgar in their 19 years as owners, they have devised a plan to try to catch him.
I have poured him a brandy before just because I thought that every once in awhile it would be good to leave him a brandy on the bar. Its always there when I come back the next day. John says.
Its important to know that their is much more to Norwood Pines than just ghost stories. The food is truly top notch. John and Tom say that they have always tried to strike a balance between keeping traditional supper club fare alive, while also branching out with new menu items.
So, whether you come for the food or the mysterious ghost stories, Norwood Pines is a place worth paying a visit.

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Minocqua (#808)
[Original Airdate: February 21, 2019]
Most people go to Minocqua to play in the north woods of Wisconsin – and there is no finer playground. If you are thinking about cabins, lakes, waterski shows and supper clubs, then you are right on the money. But after this half hour, you’ll also think of jerky, popcorn, zoo safaris and vitamins – no kidding! Hopefully you’ll also gain an understanding of its true culture, one that is rich with Ojibwe and founding family histories. The word “eclectic” comes to mind. But “rejuvenating” may be the best description of Minocqua.
