This time we are on a country walk in East Sussex from the hamlet of Three Cups down to Rushlake Green a traditional English village with a green shop and pub.

Starting at Three Cups Corner on the B2059 – easy to park up

The 16th century Three Cups Inn is a very picturesque beamed pub with an open inglenook fireplace - a great place to sit in the winter, serves a selection of food.

This walk is on a quiet B road; we have done the walk numerous times running, with a buggy and with a dog on a lead.

As you come into Turners Green - you will see the first “Finger Post Sign” - veer to the right and continue.

On the left you will The Chantry - a restored chapel now used for weddings.

Look out for the yellow East Sussex Council Footpath signs. Whilst our walk is down a road; there are many walks you can take across country.

The walk down to Rushlake Green is about 20 minutes.

Earliest records of the village date back to the 16th century although the Horse and Groom pub and other cottages were built in the 17th century.

Thriving village with lots of events including a flower show in the summer and a huge fire works event.

This walk can be started at either end of the lane.

On a mild, Spring March Morning I took a long walk around our Garden Valley, then up towards Maresfield Village, pausing to capture this Video portraying the lovely Daffodils & Daybreak over a quaint Cottage.

Victoria Inn Ashburton AleTasting 2010

Ale Tasting at the Victoria Inn, Ashburton on 17th July 2010 as part of Ashburton's Ale Tasting & Bread Weighing Ceremony. With it's origins in the Assize of Bread & Ale from the Magna Carta the practice died out in Ashburton to be revived in the 1930s. It continues each year with the Town Crier announcing the Bailiff after the 2 Court Stewards have knocked on the closed door of the inn with staves. The landlord (in this case landlady) is asked to produce 2 tankards of ale which the 2 Ale Tasters first test (by sitting on a wooden bench with leather britches) to see if it has been adulterated with sugar. It is then tasted by them (along with other members of the Court Leet and Baron Juries i.e.Viewers of the Market, Inspector of Trees, Pig Drovers, Searchers and Sealers of Leather, Scavengers, Viewers of the Watercourses, etc). Finally the Portreeve awards a certificate and a sprig of evergreen to announce to all that the inn do sell good Ale here. On this occasion the landlady was a very tall lass.

Nottingham Famous Graves- James Shipstone

The video shows the grave of James Shipstone the founder of Nottingham's most famous brewery 'Shipstones'. James Shipstone also shares the grave with several of his family members.

James Shipstone & Sons was the name of a brewery based in New Basford in Nottingham, England that opened in 1852 and closed in 1991.

The company produced the Shipstones brand of beer, known locally as Shippos.

The company was founded by James Shipstone in 1852. The company's offices and brewery were based at the 7-acre (28,000 m2) Shipstones 'Star' Brewery in the New Basford area of Nottingham. The brewery earned the nickname of 'Star' brewery because of the distinctive red illuminated star which stood at the top of the brewery's tower which could be seen for many miles around.

In 1922 it absorbed both the Beeston Brewery Company and William Hooley Limited.
By 1939, the company owned 550 licensed premises, 30 diesel lorries for long distance delivery work and 50 horses for local delivery work.

The brewery remained an independent family business until 1978 when the company was purchased by Greenall's of Warrington which also purchased a number of other breweries from neighbouring towns and cities. Greenall's introduced minor changes to the production of the various Shipstones beers and increased the marketing of the company, in 1987 Shipstones became the main shirt sponsor of Nottingham Forest Football Club, in an arrangement which continued until 1994.

In 1990, Greenall's announced that they were ending all beer production and becoming a retailer only company. Production at Shipstones Brewery ended in early 1991 after 139 years. The Shipstones brand continued to be produced for some years afterwards at breweries in Burton upon Trent.

Today the company offices have been taken over, while some housing and retail units have been constructed on other parts of the site. The landmark Victorian building, constructed in 1900 with later extension, remains standing and has been earmarked for conversion into offices.

Lear has dementia. His children never visit him. He forbids it, ever since they betrayed him and he disowned them many years ago. So what happens when Cordelia - his youngest, whose betrayal was the greatest - knocks on his door? Why has she come back? What's her story? And is there any chance of reconciliation?

Lear/Cordelia is an experimental double-bill: a radical reworking of Shakespeare's King Lear followed by Cordelia, a new play from the perspective of Lear's youngest daughter.

Digital projection-mapping combines with Shakespeare and new writing to open up the emotional landscapes of a man with dementia and the woman who tries to reconnect with him.

This exciting new pilot production is based on our research-and-development project that explored King Lear in the context of dementia through participatory research.
