Newton Broadway Upper Level Electrification Works
Testing further extensions of the electrification on the upper level tracks of my OO layout, Newton Broadway. This now leaves only the storage loops to be wired, plus the frog polarity on the points leading into the yards at the right.
Test trains today were a Realtrack Models First Great Western class 143, 143 618, and two Bachmann South West Trains class 450s, 450 084 and 450 107 (converted from class 350/1 units) using Electra Railway Graphics vinyl overlays. Both have legomanbiffo sound fitted. I have been experimenting with some Hornby Scharfenberg couplings between the units, but they are a fraction tight and caused the leading bogie of one unit to derail.

Quantock Coombes Walk, 'Where The Coombes Meet' Part VI, May 2013
I have arrived at the coombes junction where Somerton, Slaughterhouse and Holford Glen combes and Lady's edge meet at the head of Hodder's combe. I am very familiar with this area having navigated this area many times in the past. Its a place I have walked with friends and family, and many moons ago with my Primary School on day trips and nature trails. Lady Edge is popular with mountain bikers who travel at some speeds down from Bicknoller Post to the bottom at this junction. Its a walk made by Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy along with Coleridge as they sought the source of the Brook--the latter can still be seen today as you progress upwards following the stream flowing down the pathways--a diversion from the main path leads up towards the source of the Brook, emerging from the hillside via an underground spring... Returning to the main lady Edge Track will take you to Bicknoller Post---a main track junction point on the top of the Quantocks with various tracks and pathways leading off to various parts.
