The Historical City of Malacca - UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Malacca Malaysia heritage did not remain unnoticed by the appreciating eyes of UNESCO. In 2008, Malacca was listed as a UNESCO world heritage site along with Georgetown Penang. There are plenty of heritage sites, ruins of fort, colonial buildings, temples, churches and old architecture that can be found in Malacca.
Melaka is culturally similar to Malaysian island Georgetown, on Penang. Thus the two share UNESCO World Heritage status. Melaka touches shipping routes that connects Indian Ocean with the Far East. Malacca experiences monsoonal winds and thus the weather is very pleasant during monsoon season. Historically, visitors came to Malacca from India, Arab, China and Iran for trade purposes. It was a hub of traders for exchanging silk, spices and dyes. Every trader and every nation that came to Melaka added some value in it that enhances its grace till today.
Heritage Sites
The Melaka River Cruise is a great way to see the sights of Melaka at a leisurely pace, in comfort and without breaking the bank.
The Melaka River is where the town began and it has played a key role in Melaka's colourful history. Taking a river cruise is like seeing Melaka from the back door.
Melaka River tour should be one of the first things to do in Melaka, so you can get an overview of the area and see which restaurant suits you best. This state has done a great job making a nice river walk a la San Antonio. It’s quiet, clean and pleasant to stroll. There is lots of good graffiti art on the buildings which adds to the atmosphere. This is a real nice touch in hectic Southeast Asia, where cramming as much stuff into tiny places seems to be the norm.

The Beautiful of Malaysia
Malaysia is a Southeast Asian country occupying parts of the Malay Peninsula and the island of Borneo. It's known for its beaches, rainforests and mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European cultural influences. The capital, Kuala Lumpur, is home to colonial buildings, busy shopping districts such as Bukit Bintang and skyscrapers such as the iconic, 451m-tall Petronas Twin Towers.

Malaysia is a country a stone's throw from Singapore and is accessible by short coach ride. A couple of hours north on the west coast of Malaysia is a beautiful place known as Malacca dubbed The Historic State. It is located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Strait of Malacca.
While visiting Malacca we explore the culture, the vegan food options (using the Happy Cow App) and the amazing architecture. There is a lot of foreign influence in Malacca due to several countries that have colonised this place over many years. This is explained by Holly our friend who is a travel advisor.
Malacca was much nicer than we ever expected and being there made us feel like we were in the Mediterranean rather than South East Asia.
I really hope you find this video helpful if you are planning to travel to Malaysia or just want to learn more about the vegan food options available.

Street Food in Malaysia - ULTIMATE MALAYSIAN FOOD in Kuala Lumpur!
Thanks to Oh My Media:
Subscribe for 2 new videos every week
T-shirts and caps:
Huge thank you to Fadhlur for reaching out and taking us on a Malaysian street food tour of Kuala Lumpur. It was an amazing day, and I have so much love to Malaysia as it was one of the first countries where I started making street food videos - as you’ll see in the video!
Ok, here are all the street food stalls and restaurants we ate at on this tour:
Mansion Tea Stall
The thing to order here is the roti canai special, roti that chopped up, then doused in a variety of curry sauces, sambal, and a few soft boiled eggs. It’s a perfect way to begin your day in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 2.80 RM ($0.68) per plate
Nasi Lemak Tanglin
Nasi lemak is often considered the national food of Malaysia, and there are plenty of places to eat it throughout Kuala Lumpur. Having been around since 1948, Nasi Lemak Tanglin is a place I had wanted to go for a while. It was overall very good, with a nice laid back atmosphere and surrounded by nature. Nasi lemak - about 8 RM ($1.94) per plate
Ikan Bakar Seri Melaka (Jalan Bellamy)
One of my favorite places to eat ikan bakar, grilled fish, is on Jalan Bellamy. Back in 2012, I had to hike over a highway and climb a few fences to get there as I was only on foot. In this video, I’m a bit older, and we had a car! The ikan bakar was just as good as I remember it. Total price - 68 RM ($16.51) for everything
Sri Ganapathi Mess
One of the best things about Malaysian food is its incredible diversity, including Malay, Chinese, and Indian food. Banana leaf south Indian food is very popular and I was recommended to try Sri Ganapathi Mess, a restaurant tucked away into a home. An amazing south Indian food experience in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 59 RM ($14.32) for 4 people
Kedai Kopi Lai Foong
Finally, another dish that many had recommended me was the unique clam noodles in Kuala Lumpur Chinatown at the legendary Kedai Kopi Lai Foong. It was delicious, and a perfect way to end an amazing Malaysian street food tour in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 10 RM ($2.43) per bowl
Again, thank you to Oh My Media Malaysia for taking us around:

No Escaping from the Charm of Maverick Malaysia
Of late, Malaysia has drawn in backpackers and classy travellers all alike. What seems to set the tune with all is its unconventional aura. While on one side, the Twin Towers of the Petronas building leave no space for a guesswork about the top pace of advancement, the carefully preserved heritage buildings of Malacca is like the umbilical cord joining the neo-developing society with years of rich tradition.
Penang
Penang is an exceptionally rich state and is particularly famous for her eye candy beaches. The nighttime view of the capital city of George Town could even compete with the scintillating cities of the first world countries.
Malacca
More than a quick photo stop opportunity for the tourists, A’Famosa in Malacca is one of the surviving gems of all the earliest European architectural remains. Here, the history has been written in layers.
Taman Negara
If you want to feel the soul of Malaysia, you need to take a detour to its rainforests. Hundred million years old caves located amidst an even earlier setting- Taman Negara is a must visit place.
Perhentian Islands
Malaysia and its diverse ranges of water sports are inseparable. Never miss the opportunity of exploring the hidden underwater marvels during a scuba diving stint in the Perhentian islands.
Kuala Lumpur
There is more than meets the eyes of a shopaholic in Kuala Lumpur. Soak in the soothing airs of the Cameron Highlands tea plantation that is about 4 hours driving distance from the Malaysian capital city.
Key to this Wonder Land is with ‘Alter Domus’- the official agent of MM2H visa.

5 Reasons to Visit Malacca
The history of Malaysia begins in the era of the Malacca Sultanate in the 14th century. Captured by few colonial powers like the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British.
Fast forward to today, Malacca has transformed from a little fishing village to an entrepot to an abandoned outpost and the recent resurgence as a popular tourist spot. Hence why Melaka were named as UNESCO World Heritage Sites based on its history trails of trade dating back 500 years.
Enough of the history lesson! In this video I will be sharing “5 Reasons to Visit Malacca” and all the addresses of places I have visited are as below.

Globe Trekker Series 5 - Malaysia and Southern Thailand Trailer
Interested in more information? Follow this link to find out everything you need to know!
Traveler Justine Shapiro explores the heart of South East Asia – modern Malaysia, with its ancient forests and vibrant mix of cultures, and the beaches of Southern Thailand just across the border.
Her first taste of Malaysia is Kuala Lumpur. The capital is central to the Government’s Vision 2020 policy which aims to make Malaysia a fully developed nation by the year 2020. Justine visits during Ramadan, when Muslims fast each day until sunset.
Justine hires a car and heads north through the Cameron Highlands to the Temengorr Dam. The area is home to ancient rainforests and tribes, and Justine and her guide Ruben, who is trained in jungle survival skills, take a boat trip out to a village where the Orang Astli people live.
From Temanggor Justine travels to Kota Bharu in the Islamic state of Kelantan. She is invited into a home to celebrate the festival of Hari Raya the end of Ramadan, where she helps out in the kitchen preparing an enormous feast and meets the pet monkey, trained to pick the best coconuts from the trees.
Over the border to Thailand by train, Justine makes her way round the coast to the island of Phuket. Tourism is big in Phuket, but a private beach is a great place to enjoy a Thai massage. That evening Justine hails a motorbike taxi to check out the legendary night-life in Patong. However she finds the blatant sex trade in town unpleasant and off-putting and opts for an early night instead.
Justine’s final adventure begins in the town of Krabi – a sea canoe trek back across the bay to Phuket. The Sea Canoe Company is run by an eco-warrior John Grey, also known as Cave Man who fights against the mass tourism which is destroying the lagoons. He takes Justine to the famous cave formations now under threat from vandals, where she sees the beautiful stalactite formations and learns the ‘look but don’t touch’ message of respect for the environment.
