Early morning walk in Kobarid, Slovenia
Kobarid is best known by its Italian name, that of Caporetto and in this case for the battle that took place there in October 1917 and wherever we go in the town and around we are reminded of the first world war. But other than that Kobarid has much more to offer in the form of nature along the banks of the turquoise coloured Soca river. In this film, I go out for a walk to the outstanding Vielki Kozjak waterfall and discuss the history of the town, pointing out relics from WW1 and finishing with commentary on an ambush in WW2. Other than this, I also discuss nature and motorhome life!

Soča Valley - Walk of Peace (GB-version) HD.mov
The Soča Valley was part of the Isonzo Front during the First World War. Lads and men of many nations fought, died and suffered along the Soča. Preserved from this era have been trenches, fortifications, caves, military cemeteries,...
Listen to the stories of World War I and you will hear the thunder of battle. Open your heart to peace. The green colourful Soča valley is rich with majestic waterfalls, fabulous river pools, mysterious springs, gorges, canyons, flora and fauna. All those things make the Upper Soča Region so special.
Do not be afraid to experience it all!

The First world war outdoor museum Kolovrat (GB version) HD
On the right bank of the Soča river, between Kobarid and Tolminm there rises a steep slope of the kolovrat ridge from wich a splendid view opens over the one-time Isonzo front battlefield, stretching from Mt. Kanin, the Krn range to Mt. Sveta Gora; the view on the other side stretches over the Veneto region and Friuli lowland all to Adriatic sea. During the First world war the Italian Army build on the Kolovrat range an extensive system of the third line of defence, called linea d`armata, a part of wich is now arranged as the outdoor museum.

Slovenia: Julian Alps and Soča River Valley
More info about travel to Slovenia: This northwestern corner of Slovenia is busy with visitors both winter and summer. The Julian Alps, laced with hiking paths and alpine villages, and the milky-blue Soča River flowing down into the peaceful valley below offer plenty of diversions for nature-lovers. This terrain also has a terrible war history—it was the Soča Front during World War I; a nearby museum tells the story.

On the Battlefield of Caporetto - Exploring the Kolovrat I THE GREAT WAR Special
The Walk of Peace in the Soča Region Foundation
Follow Indy and his guide Leon up the heights of the Kolovrat Ridge and into the Italian frontline trenches and bunkers. From there we take a look down towards the Isonzo Valley and reconstruct the advance of the German and Austro-Hungarian forces during the Battle of Caporetto towards Tolmin and Kobarid. Walking through the narrow corridors, we try to understand the conditions in which the defenders lived and fought.

Otvoritev JULIANA TRAIL
Otvoritev JULIANA TRAIL, pohodniška pot
Pot osebnega romanja z bogato naravno ter kulturno dediščino in spoštljivo razdaljo pod vznožja mogočnih očakov … …
Peljala vas bo tja, kjer boste začutili pravi utrip življenja v Julijskih Alpah in spoznali bogato naravno in kulturno dediščino tega čudovito osupljivega gorskega sveta z neizmernim biotskim bogastvom. …
Pot vas bo presenečala z posebnostmi in unikatnimi kulinaričnimi, kulturnimi, poselitvenimi in zgodovinskimi posebnostmi. Nova pot vas ne bo postavila pred izzive junaških osvajanj vrhov, temveč pred osebni izziv iskanja lastne vloge v odnosu do narave in odgovornega turizma. Juliana trail išče drugačne junake - z duhovnim napredovanjem in ne višinskim … …
