Lavender Fields | The Weekend Vlog
This weekend's adventure was a visit to Somerset Lavender and then on to The Walled Garden at Mells. Neither went quite according to plan, but we had fun nonetheless and then ended up in an American style diner for lunch.

OPEN GARDEN AT THE SHAMBLES Montville October 2016

Sycamore House is a home for all seasons, with four reception rooms, wonderful at any time of the year. On a hot summers day the family who live here may be found in the secluded garden. In winter they all tend to congregate in the snug with the roaring fire. The orangery opens out into the rear garden and leads through to the kitchen, so that the whole area becomes one big open space for the family and their guests to enjoy. Spring, summer, winter or fall, they will be in the wonderful walled garden with its ancient yew trees and bay tree. Here they can relax on the lawns and admire the colourful expanse of flowerbeds, or watch the birds on the numerous trees in the garden.
Residing at Sycamore House was like a dream come true for the owners. They lived in the village and were familiar with the property and aspired to live in a home such as this, with character and period features in abundance. They carried out improvements such as the skylight in the kitchen which lets the light flood into the kitchen. The main living rooms all have wood burners, which help to bring a real glow to the whole of the ground floor of the house. At Christmas the property, thought to date from around 1780, is resplendent with real trees festooned with decorations in all of the reception rooms. As well as space where all the family can be together, theres plenty of room with accommodation on three floors. They can enjoy their own space to read, watch a movie, listen to music or play a musical instrument.
Located in the High Street, the house is at the heart of the historic village centre, close to boutique hotels and restaurants, designer fashion outlets, a country pub, and Buckden Towers. The Towers has a rich history spanning more than 900 years and was once known as Buckden Palace, when it was home to the Bishops of Lincoln. The family try to do most of their shopping in the village, which has a great butchers shop, also selling fresh bread and including a small delicatess

Helmsley Town Crier Competition. Natalie Eaglen presenting #77
I was recently invited to film the Town Crier competition in Helmsley, North Yorkshire. A Town Crier is a very old tradition here in the UK, and it brought other Town Criers who also have the same tradition in their countries.
Somerset Levels
North Hide, Westhay Moor, Avalon Marshes. Early afternoon, 25 May 2013.
Westhay Moor, a National Nature Reserve, is part of the Avalon Marshes within Somerset's historic Levels and Moors. It provides a home for rare wildlife and a unique insight into 6000 years of shifting landscapes as it was when the first settlers, Neolithic farmers, made the marshes home - a mosaic of wetlands, lakes and reed beds alive with hidden wildfowl and fish, like this video clip heard but not seen.
Wuthering Heights Audiobook by Emily Bronte | Audiobook with Subtitles | Part 1
Wuthering Heights (Version 2)
Emily BRONTË
Emily Brontë's only novel, published in 1847 under the pseudonym Ellis Bell, tells the tale of the all-encompassing and passionate, yet thwarted, love between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, and how this unresolved passion eventually destroys them and many around them.
Now considered a classic of English literature, Wuthering Heights met with mixed reviews by critics when it first appeared, with many horrified by the stark depictions of mental and physical cruelty. Though Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre was originally considered the best of the Brontë sisters' works, many subsequent critics of Wuthering Heights argued that its originality and achievement made it superior.
