The Smallest Town, With A Population Of Just Four With Two Streetlamps
If you've ever dreamed of living the quiet life, you'll no doubt be jealous of the residents of Tilt Cove, Canada.
This tiny town in Newfoundland and Labrador, on Canada's east coast, has a population of just four.
All four residents are part of the town's government, with the mayor Don Collins claiming there 'is a lot to do to keep it on the straight and narrow'.
Tilt Cove was once a thriving copper mining town, which boasted a population of 2,000 people.
However, the mine closed in 1967 following an accidental collapse, leaving most of the residents jobless - forcing them to leave town forever.
Today, Tilt Cove still has postal, rubbish collection and road maintenance services - as well as two streetlamps.
It also has a museum that houses pictures, letters and artifacts that detail the town's history. Named The Way We Were, the museum was built single-handed by Collins using local timber as a 40th birthday present for his wife.
Margaret Collin's family have been here since 1813. Her brother and his wife are the only other two residents in Tilt Cove.
Joggins Fossil Cliffs Guided Tour | Beach Combing | UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nova Scotia, Canada
Joggins Fossil Cliffs are located along the Fundy coast in Nova Scotia, Canada. This area is the best known location to see fossils from the Coal Age - about 100 Million years prior to the Dinosaurs. Because of this rarity, in 2008 it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During our visit of this site, we decided it would be very beneficial to have a guided tour. Here our guide (a Geology student) took us from the Visitor Centre, down to the beach and went over all the fossils that can be seen in the area (as you'll see in the video). Some of the most impressive fossils were the old tree trunks that have since turned into rock.
After our tour, we stayed on the beach and began beach combing for some fossils of our own. I think we did fairly well! (Well, Adam did anyway).
Our day ended up inside the museum at the Visitor Centre where you can see a small collection of fossils that they have found in the area.
We had a good time exploring the Joggins Fossil Cliffs, here in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Newfoundland - Change Islands
We went to Change Islands by accident. Not enough room on the ferry to go all the way to Farewell. We were so glad we did. Stayed in a lovely B and B - all meals provided - did a walking trail along the rugged coast - and visited Peter Porter's excellent museum.
Oak Island Money Pit Mystery Resolved
I think I have resolved the Oak Island Money Pit mystery with a scientific explanation.
Another shorter version 7.5 minutes is here
Please support my work.
No one built that structure like that. It is just a ship fallen down in sinkhole. The mast and the sail structure ( Which the Vikings took a little far from the place of the tragedy towards the cove ) was covered with stones along with the mast in Vikings burial ritual. Unusual ritual, created unusual mystery.
I know the video is long and I am trying to edit it. In the meantime, please you could start from 20 minutes onwards into the video. That will make it about 35 minutes to watch the important points.
( Please Note: The other video ( ) I posted has my demo with two 3D short movies in the end )
All questions are welcome... I also added some more comments from my side which will clear many things..so if you sort them by 'Top Comments.. you can see my comments and I'll encourage you to read them.
Main points :
1. Coconut fibers are just kind of pillow stuffing, The panels/Backrest supports against which Vikings used to push the oars were covered on both sides by the coconut fibers filled coverings, for some comfort on long voyages.
There is enough evidence of coconut fibers used as stuffing's all over the world and as Vikings were traders too, The trade was happening all over Europe. As per the requirements in ship design and comfort these were used in the ship.
2. The Medieval warm period as I explained was from 950-1200AD , The Vikings last known voyages were before 1050AD. In Green land as well as Baffinland region there is evidence of Vikings artifacts and the routes they were taking, Oak Island fall on the same route.
3. The Stone's characters and writing matches the one used in Nunavut region of North Eastern Canada. They picked up this probably as to cut something on top of it, to cook on it, to sit and bath on it, could be anything in their daily routine..
4. The coconut fibers are still stuck in the narrow cavities and the mast area because at the time of the fall of the ship the sail got tangled and pulled down for centuries. The push and pull of waters for years brought the coconut fibers which by that time were disintegrated from the panels/backrests and flowed to the water and got clogged for ages.
5. The ship went at an angle and got pushed for years into the position, it is close to vertical 90 degrees or less not known as the ship was torn unknowingly from the top by treasure hunters not knowing what the structure was as part of the structure was visible.
6. Ships of type Skied dimensions fit exactly the pit dimensions and the way they were constructed the mast area around 90 feet down etc..
7. The parchment with writing ( 2 characters ). didn't make any sentence, could be from the body clothing, could be part of the sail of the ship.
I want to mention again that the so called floors are the panels stretching throughout the long ship( with gap of 9-10 feet ), some are on the one side of the mast ( The one which treasure hunters destroyed ) The others they keep finding after a gap are on the other side of the mast as explained in detail in my demo.
My scientific explanation could bring out a site to be preserved, the site where Vikings landed in Nova Scotia on their Skeid Long Ship.
The site of Money Pit is an actual Viking Long Ship of type skeid.
This could be a treasure in itself.
Here is a brief explanation what I think it is( for audience who don't want to watch 1 hour of me talking, I understand! )
The Viking Long Ship along with 70-80 people on board traveled to Oak Island and the Long Ship went deep in the area where it now because of Medieval Warm Period which occurred during 950 to 1200 AD( according to the research of scientists ) and there was water present there where the ship landed in shallow waters and then the weight of the water produced sinkholes and caverns due to which one side of the Long Ship fell down and tilted to a vertical angle and got stranded and then pushed up due to the movement of Ice bergs formed in Northern Atlantic due to the increase in ocean temperatures by 1-2 degrees Celsius. Further during the Little Ice age between 1200-1600 AD the water and land mass around the vertical stranded ship froze along with the movement of soft sand. The excavators find some sort of tunnels feeding the pit , which I believe are actually the Sail ropes and timber attached to the Mast and being pulled down in that position and for the last 1000 years have built soft of cavities around them and thus the water seeps into the pit itself.

SUMMARY
=======
Newfoundland (, locally ; French: Terre-Neuve) is a large Canadian island off the east coast of the North American mainland, and the most populous part of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It has 29 percent of the province's land area. The island is separated from the Labrador Peninsula by the Strait of Belle Isle and from Cape Breton Island by the Cabot Strait. It blocks the mouth of the Saint Lawrence River, creating the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, the world's largest estuary. Newfoundland's nearest neighbour is the French overseas community of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon.
With an area of 108,860 square kilometres (42,031 sq mi), Newfoundland is the world's 16th-largest island, Canada's fourth-largest island, and the largest Canadian island outside the North. The provincial capital, St. John's, is located on the southeastern coast of the island; Cape Spear, just south of the capital, is the easternmost point of North America, excluding Greenland. It is common to consider all directly neighbouring islands such as New World, Twillingate, Fogo and Bell Island to be 'part of Newfoundland' (as distinct from Labrador). By that classification, Newfoundland and its associated small islands have a total area of 111,390 square kilometres (43,008 sq mi).According to 2006 official Census Canada statistics, 57% of responding Newfoundland and Labradorians claim British or Irish ancestry, with 43.2% claiming at least one English parent, 21.5% at least one Irish parent, and 7% at least one parent of Scottish origin. Additionally 6.1% claimed at least one parent of French ancestry. The island's total population as of the 2006 census was 479,105.

DEF CON 22 - Richard Thieme - The Only Way to Tell the Truth is in Fiction
Slides Here:
The Only Way to Tell the Truth is in Fiction: The Dynamics of Life in the National Security State
Richard Thieme THIEMEWORKS
Over a decade ago, a friend at the National Security Agency told Richard Thieme that he could address the core issues they discussed in a context of ethical considerations for intelligence and security professionals only if he wrote fiction. It's the only way you can tell the truth, he said.
Three dozen published short stories and one novel-in-progress (FOAM) later, one result is Mind Games, published in 2010 by Duncan Long Publishing, a collection of stories that illuminates “non-consensual realities:” the world of hackers; the worlds of intelligence professionals; encounters with other intelligent life forms; and deeper states of consciousness.
A recent scholarly study of “The Covert Sphere” by Timothy Melley documents the way the growth and influence of the intelligence community since World War 2 has created precisely the reality to which that NSA veteran pointed. The source of much of what “outsiders” believe is communicated through novels, movies, and television programs. But even IC “insiders” rely on those sources as compartmentalization prevents the big picture from coming together because few inside have a “need to know.”
Thieme asked a historian at the NSA what historical events they could discuss with a reasonable expectation that their words denoted the same details. “Anything up to 1945,” the historian said with a laugh – but he wasn’t kidding.
Point taken.
This fascinating presentation illuminates the mobius strip on which all of us walk as we make our way through the labyrinth of security and intelligence worlds we inhabit of necessity, all of us some of the time and some of us all of the time. It discloses why “post-modernism” is not an affectation but a necessary condition of modern life. It addresses the words of an NSA intelligence analyst who responded to one of Thieme’s stories by saying, “most of this isn’t fiction, but you have to know which part to have the key to the code.” This talk does not provide that key, but it does provide the key to the key. It also throws into relief everything else you hear – whether from the platform or in the hallways – inside this conference. And out there in the “real world.”
“Nothing is what it seems.”
Richard Thieme is an author and professional speaker focused on the challenges posed by new technologies and the future, how to redesign ourselves to meet these challenges, and creativity in response to radical change and identify shift. His column, Islands in the Clickstream, was distributed to subscribers in sixty countries before collection as a book in 2004. When a friend at the NSA said, The only way you can tell the truth is through fiction, he returned to writing stories, 19 of which are collected in “Mind Games.” He is co-author of the critically acclaimed “UFOs and Government: A Historical Inquiry,” a 5-year research project using material exclusively from government documents and other primary sources, now in 50 university libraries. Speeches based on the book have been given for HITB-KL, an FBI/Infragard “superconference,” the Ryerson Astronomical Society at the University of Chicago, the Chicago Astronomical Society at Adler Planetarium, and dozens of libraries.
A novel, FOAM, is in progress and “A Richard Thieme Reader” will be published soon. His work has been taught at universities in Europe, Australia, Canada, and the United States, and he has guest lectured at numerous universities, including Purdue University (CERIAS), the Technology, Literacy and Culture Distinguished Speakers Series of the University of Texas, the “Design Matters” lecture series at the University of Calgary, “The Real Truth: A World’s Fair” at Raven Row Gallery, London, and as a Distinguished Lecturer in Telecommunications Systems Management at Murray State University. He addressed the reinvention of “Europe” as a “cognitive artifact” for curators and artists at Museum Sztuki in Lodz, Poland.

SUMMARY

Oregon ( (listen) OR-i-gən) is a state in the Pacific Northwest region on the West Coast of the United States. The Columbia River delineates much of Oregon's northern boundary along Washington state, while the Snake River delineates much of its eastern boundary along Idaho. The parallel 42° north delineates the southern boundary with California and Nevada. Oregon is one of only three states of the contiguous United States to have a coastline on the Pacific Ocean.
Oregon was inhabited by many indigenous tribes before Western traders, explorers, and settlers arrived. An autonomous government was formed in the Oregon Country in 1843 before the Oregon Territory was created in 1848. Oregon became the 33rd state on February 14, 1859. Today, at 98,000 square miles (250,000 km2), Oregon is the ninth largest and, with a population of 4 million, 27th most populous U.S. state. The capital, Salem, is the second most populous city in Oregon, with 164,549 residents. Portland, with 632,309 residents, is the most populous and ranks as the 26th most populous city in the United States. The Portland metropolitan area, which also includes the city of Vancouver, Washington, to the north, ranks the 23rd largest metro area in the nation, with a population of 2,389,228.
Oregon is one of the most geographically diverse states in the U.S., marked by volcanoes, abundant bodies of water, dense evergreen and mixed forests, as well as high deserts and semi-arid shrublands. At 11,249 feet (3,429 m), Mount Hood, a stratovolcano, is the state's highest point. Oregon's only national park, Crater Lake National Park, comprises the caldera surrounding Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the United States. The state is also home to the single largest organism in the world, Armillaria ostoyae, a fungus that runs beneath 2,200 acres (8.9 km2) of the Malheur National Forest.Because of its diverse landscapes and waterways, Oregon's economy is largely powered by various forms of agriculture, fishing, and hydroelectric power. Oregon is also the top timber producer of the contiguous United States, and the timber industry dominated the state's economy in the 20th century. Technology is another one of Oregon's major economic forces, beginning in the 1970s with the establishment of the Silicon Forest and the expansion of Tektronix and Intel. Sportswear company Nike, Inc., headquartered in Beaverton, is the state's largest public corporation with an annual revenue of $30.6 billion.Like its northern neighbor Washington, Oregon is one of the most socially progressive states in the country. Same-sex marriage in Oregon was recognized in 2013 before its full legalization in 2015, cannabis is legal for recreational and medicinal use in the state, and assisted suicide is also permitted by law in Oregon.
The Hidden Door Design and Construction Remodel in Coto De Caza, CA
WoodworkSolutions.net
Scope of Work:
Floor to ceiling recessed panel wainscot, coffered ceiling, 2 piece crown moulding, custom entertainment wall, fireplace mantel, recessed panel columns, recessed panel hidden door, custom paint and audio/video system.
This project was a collaboration of old world traditional design. The Woodwork Solutions Team did a complete remodel of Vicky and John Higgins grand family room. We started with floor to ceiling recessed panel wainscot, and a 12 dropped coffered ceiling with 2 piece crown moulding. This also included 6 can lights within each square. To display their art work and family pictures, we built them a 17X8 custom entertainment wall with lots of shelving, this entertainment wall consists of matching cabinets on each side of the custom wood fireplace mantel. As the centerpiece of the room, this mantel was designed with recess panel columns and triple stacked mouldings. To the right side of the cabinet is a hidden door, which resembles the recess panel wainscot that is throughout the room. Behind this hidden door houses the complete house audio system and video system-installed by Troy Vallin and his team at Custom Installations. The Higgins wished to also modify the step at the room entrance, so we accomplished that by removing the stair rail and built a longer step for a more grand appeal. Dave Monaco and his team installed the granite foe the step, bar top, and fireplace surround. Foe the finishing touch, we finished the bar, entertainment center, and crown moulding within the coffered ceiling in an antiqued cream color. the recessed panel floor-to-ceiling walls were painted in a brown satin to finish off this magnificent transformation. We thank the Higgins family for the opportunity to be apart of this beautiful room remodel!

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
