Surprises abound in the ancient headquarters of the Duke of Wellington, the future Prince of Waterloo. This is where he slept on the nights of 17 and 18 June 1815, and where he drafted his victory announcement.

Description
The Road to Waterloo - Thank you Sponsors and Stakeholders
When we received a request from the Financial Times of London to use our recount of the 200th Anniversary reenactment of the Battle of Waterloo we were excited, but we never expected the email we got last week:
At the request of the reigning Duke of Wellington and the Belgian Ambassador, can we use your video, and can you make it longer?
Of course the answers were yes, and yes.
So it turns out the Ambassador wanted to show the video at a dinner being held to thank the sponsors and stakeholders of #Waterloo200, and among the guests will be the reigning Duke of Wellington and Prince von Blucher who represent, let's see, the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandsons (+/- a great or two) of the two men who led the Seventh Allied Coalition to victory over Napoleon at Waterloo.
We were honored that the Ambassador selected the following account showing Napoleon's rise to power, exile, return, and final defeat at Waterloo as depicted in the great neoclassical art of the time and footage from the spectacular reenactment held this past June on the very ground where it occurred 200 years ago.
On behalf of the 100s of thousands of spectators who attended and the many, many thousands of reenactors and volunteers, Seven Days joins in thanking the sponsors and stakeholders of Waterloo 200 and hope you like this tribute too.
WATERLOO MUSEUM
The Battle of Waterloo was fought on Sunday, 18 June 1815, near Waterloo and the battlefield is located about 15 kilometres south of Brussels.
The Battle of Waterloo which took place in Belgium on June 18, 1815, marked the final defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte, who conquered much of Europe in the early 19th century. Napoleon rose through the ranks of the French army during the French Revolution, seized control of the French government in 1799 and became emperor in 1804. Through a series of wars, he expanded his empire across western and central Europe. The Battle of Waterloo, in which Napoleon’s forces were defeated by the British and Prussians, marked the end of his reign and of France’s domination in Europe.
