For watch collectors, notably Rolex enthusiasts, they’d probably know that 1988 was the year Rolex equipped its famed Daytona with the Calibre 4030 automatic movement. This was an improved Zenith El Primero movement which did not beat at 36,000 vibrations per hour (VPH) but at 28,800 VPH.
For fans of well-known author Roald Dahl, they might also know that 1988 was the year Matilda was published. It was Dahl’s last children’s book.
In 2010, Matilda The Musical, a production by The Royal Shakespeare Company, opened at The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in England. After playing for 12 weeks (November 2010 to January 2011), it was subsequently transferred to London’s West End. It is said that more than eight million people have watched Matilda The Musical in London.
In 2013, Matilda The Musical opened on Broadway at Shubert Theatre in New York City.

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s West End production of Matilda The Musical has today announced the new adult and child cast, including casting the 100th Matilda to go into the show, worldwide, since the original opening.
Direct from the UK and Ireland tour, Elliot Harper joins the cast as Miss Trunchbull alongside Sebastien Torkia as Mr Wormwood who joins Marianne Benedict as she continues as Mrs Wormwood. Following this, Carly Thoms will take over the role of Miss Honey from Gina Beck, after her final performance in March 2020.
The show introduces its 100th Matilda as Tilly-Raye Bayer, Olivia Juno Cleverley, Alex Munden and Zoe Simon share the lead role from September 2019.
The full cast includes Alex Louize Bird, Liberty Buckland, Georgia Carling, Roger Dipper, Kelly Ewins-Prouse, Ben Kerr, Matt Krzan, Connor Lewis, Tom Mather, Kane Oliver Parry, Landi Oshinowo, Ryan Pidgen, James Revell, Gemma Scholes, Christopher Tendai and Dawn Williams.
The young performers announced today join the London company in the three teams who play the roles of Bruce, Lavender, Amanda and the rest of the pupils at Crunchem Hall are as follows: Lily Armitage, Brian Bartle, Kaspar Cahill-Ritter, Kingsley Campbell-Golding, Sienna Clarke, Haydn Court, Tyler De Souza, Shana Diallo, Rosie Gell-Marquez, Beth Gilmour, Louie Gray, Edward Haddon, Gracie Hodson-Prior, Emily Rees, Elliott Rose, Samson Wakayu and Louis Wint.
Toby Brandon, Tom Brown, Lucia Coleman, Leonardo Dickens, Ta’niyah Fearon-Telfer, Sophie Richards, Bella Simmons and Mia White continue in the roles of Bruce, Lavender, Amanda and the pupils at Crunchem Hall.
Matilda The Musical celebrated its first UK and Ireland Tour finishing at the Theatre Royal in Norwich this August, 18 months after its opening at the Curve Theatre in Leicester. Since March 2018, the production has travelled 2,599 miles and toured to 13 venues, with 541 performances seen by a total of 855,000 audience members.
Winner of over 90 international awards including 23 for Best Musical, Matilda the Musical has been seen by over 9 million people across more than 70 cities worldwide. Still delighting audiences of all ages as it approaches its 9th year in London, the hit show is now a West End classic and plays to packed houses at the Cambridge Theatre six days a week. It has become the Cambridge Theatre’s longest running production and one of the top twenty longest running musicals in the West End having now welcomed over 3 million audience members in London. Matilda The Musical is currently booking at the Cambridge Theatre until 20 December 2020.
Written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and direction by Matthew Warchus. The production is designed by Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and the special effects and illusions are by Paul Kieve.
Matilda The Musical is still widely considered to be one of the most innovative British Musicals of the century. Adapted from Roald Dahl’s much loved 1988 book and commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company, the musical premiered at the RSC’s Stratford-upon-Avon home in 2010, before transferring to the West End in 2011, where it opened to rave reviews.
Bursting with revolting fun and naughtiness, it tells the story of Matilda, the strong, determined heroine, who stands up to her bullies. This brave bookworm outwits her ghastly parents The Wormwoods and horrible headteacher Miss Trunchbull using her vivid imagination, intelligence and magical powers. Dahl’s themes of rebellion, bravery, protest and standing up for what you believe in are more relevant in 2019 than ever before.
Matilda The Musical swept the board at the 2012 Olivier Awards, with a record-breaking seven awards, and won four Tony Awards and a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theater for the four girls sharing the title role on Broadway. It has since toured to Australia, New Zealand and China and played its first non-English language production in Seoul, South Korea in 2018/19.
Matilda The Musical is produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company with André Ptaszynski and Denise Wood as Executive Producers. The production was developed with the support of Jeanie O’Hare and the RSC Literary Department.

LONDON: Stratford
LONDON: Stratford
Stratford is a district in the East End of London, in the London Borough of Newham, England. It is 6 miles (10 km) east-northeast of Charing Cross and is in East London. Stratford is part of the Lower Lea Valley and includes the localities of Maryland, East Village, Mill Meads (shared with West Ham), Stratford City and Forest Gate. Historically part of the ancient parish and subsequent County Borough of West Ham, which became the western half of the modern borough within a Greater London in 1965. Historically an agrarian settlement in the county of Essex, Stratford was transformed into an industrial suburb after the introduction of the railway in 1839.
The late 20th Century was a period of severe economic decline, eventually reversed by regeneration associated with the 2012 Summer Olympics, for which Stratford's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was the principal venue and later with West Ham United F.C. and British Athletics moving to the London Stadium.
Stratford, along with Ilford and Romford are East London's primary retail, cultural and leisure centres. Stratford has also become the second most significant (after Canary Wharf) business location in the east of the capital.

K M Traveler -Day trip tour uk Warwick Castle Stratford Oxford Review
Day trip time is really rush. Each places view for 2 hrs limit only. I can't have much time to take video.
Recommendation:
1) Go before Warwick castle should check about daily show time table. Otherwise, missed a lot great performance.
2) Warwick Castle & Stratford is really close. I suggest at least 3 hrs each place.
3) Oxford is good place as well. Better spend 2 hrs over there.

Cotswolds, England: Village Charm
More info about travel to the Cotswolds: As with many fairy-tale regions in Europe, the present-day beauty of England's Cotswolds was the result of an economic disaster — in this case, the collapse of the wool industry. The fine Cotswold towns fell into a time warp, creating a rustic charm that is the basis of today's new prosperity from tourism.

Summer Stratford Steam Specials - Shakespeare Express & Merchant of Avon - 2019
2019 saw Vintage Trains starting their summer Sunday trips - The Shakespeare Express - from Birmingham to Stratford up and running again after not running them since 2017 as well as West Coast Railway Company starting up Sunday trips to Stratford Upon Avon from Burton Upon Trent - The Merchant of Avon. These tours ran over alternating Sundays from July through to September. This video capture four of the charters/specials with 4 different locomotives.
The video starts with LMS 45596 'Bahamas' at Stratford-upon-Avon with Vintage Train's Shakespeare Express. The first return is seen at Stratford Parkway where the Jubilee accelerates through away from the central station. The afternoon return is seen from a footbridge in Shrewley as Bahamas gets back up to speed after joining the Chiltern Mainline at Hatton North Junction.
Two weeks later and it's back to Stratford-upon-Avon for GWR 7029 'Clun Castle's turn on VT's Shakespeare Express. The Castle is seen powering through Lapworth on it's first return run. Later in the day, 7029 races through Widney Manor returning back to Birmingham.
The next Sunday and it was the first Merchant of Avon I was able to see with 48151 (turning out to be it's final tour before going for overhaul). The day starts at Wychnor Junction where the 8F is almost at top speed after departing Burton Upon Trent. The next shot is at Water Orton where 48151 is seen powering away from the Coleshill Parkway stop. Final shot of the outward run is seen at Wilmcote where the 8F gently chuffs through. 48151 is then seen on it's turning move round Hatton triangle at Hatton station and crossing the canal near Lapworth. The return is seen at Wilmcote where 48151 crests the summit while priming and at Water Orton with 31128 piloting due to a fire risk.
The final day of summer steam to Stratford was Sunday 22nd September with LMS 45699 'Galatea' working WCRC's Merchant of Avon. The jubilee is first seen powering up the bank past Elford/Portway Lane. She is then seen powering through Water Orton changing tracks before the station. The next shot was at Wood End where 45699 coasts through into the tunnel. The last shot of the tour and video is Galatea roaring up the bank away from Henley in Arden past Blunts Green. The jubilee could be heard for a good 5 minutes before her passing and a few minutes after! A brilliant end to a summer of steam specials in the midlands!!

113. Narrowboat trip from Offenham lock to Stratford-upon-Avon
Filmed way, way back in the dizzying summer scorcher of mid-June, this is the final section of my trip up the River Avon in Warwickshire, from Offenham lock (where the last vlog ended), to the canal basin at Stratford-upon-Avon.
Along the way there was lovely scenery, gentle river tranquility, and a plethora of ice cream at the end.
