Belgrade (Serbian: Београд, Beograd) — meaning 'White City' — is the capital of the Republic of Serbia. Various styles of architecture dominate the city while its recent resurgence as the leading hub in south-eastern Europe makes it a must-see destination.
Kalemegdan - Belgrade Fortress. Once an important military fortification, it now serves as the central park of Belgrade. Accessible from the end of the Knez Mihailova street, it offers beautiful views, especially during sunset. The largest part of is a park, along with the fortress walls, with several cafes, tennis and basketball courts, museums and an observatory. Don't forget to take a look at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, and the statue of Pobednik (Winner), one of the symbols of Belgrade.Take tram number 2 from the railway station and disembark at the 4th stop (Kalemdag)to avoid the walking uphill.
Republic Square (Main Square). Main meeting point in the city (also called kod konja - by the horse), right next to the statue of Mihailo Obrenovic (riding a horse), National Theater, National Museum and Knez Mihailova Street. Best place to arrange a meeting.
The National Assembly of Serbia (Serbian Cyrillic: Народна Скупштина Србије), located across from the Old Royal Palace, at Nikola Pasic Sqaure.
St. Mark's Church (Serbian Cyrillic: Црква Св. Марка) built from 1931 to 1940 is located in Tašmajdan park in Belgrade, near the Parliament of Serbia. It was designed as a copy of the famous Gračanica monastery near Priština. Behind the church, there is the Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, built by White Russian immigrants who came to Serbia after the Russian Revolution of 1917-1922.

Congratulations are in order for Prince Philip of Serbia and his fiancée Danica Marinkovic. The couple tied the knot in a spectacular wedding at the White Palace in Belgrade, Serbia, with a host of European royals in attendance. Philip, 35, and his new wife Danica, 31, were the picture of happiness as they said “I do” at the Cathedral Church of St. Michael the Archangel on Saturday.
Danica was the modern bride in a full-length silk gown that featured billowy sheer long sleeves, a thick belt and a sweeping train. Her hair was styled into an elegant low chignon and decorated with pearls. The graphic designer accessorised with emerald diamond drop earrings, a matching pendant necklace and her new wedding band.
During the traditional church wedding, the Prince and his new wife wore red crowns. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden acted as maid of honour and looked lovely in a blush pink gown and white shawl. She was accompanied down the aisle by the groom’s older brother, Prince Peter. Queen Sofia of Spain was another notable royal in the crowd, as was the groom’s younger twin brother Prince Alexander, and their parents Crown Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia and Princess Maria.
After the ceremony, the royal couple were showered with rose petals as they left the cathedral, and chauffeured back to the White Palace for their lavish reception. Guests were treated to traditional dance performances, live music and speeches, and gathered around to watch Philip and Danica cut their six-tiered wedding cake. Other special moments were captured on film, including the bride and groom’s first dance and the throwing of the bouquet.

COME WITH ME and explore the city with my eyes. ENJOY! :)
Outspoken, adventurous, proud and audacious, Belgrade’s dynamic spirit makes it one of Europe’s most happening cities. This is where the Sava and Danube Rivers kiss, and feels like the old-world meets the new!
One of the oldest cities in Europe and the only one built on the confluence of two rivers, Belgrade is known as “The White City”- Beograd as the Slavs, of many tribes and nations lived in this area, have name it. Today, Belgrade is a modern European city with population of about 1.7 million people. It is an administrative, political and cultural center of Serbia.
A lively pedestrian boulevard full of historical buildings all the way to the ancient Belgrade Fortress, the riverside Savamala quarter, Skadarlija, the bohemian Street are all full of energy. Deeper in Belgrade’s bowels are museums guarding the historical, cultural and religious heritage of the country as remnants of the Habsburg legacy contrast with Ottoman relics. All the people that have lived here and the armies that passed through Belgrade have left their marks on the city. The magnificent Victor monument, the remains of the Belgrade fortress, the Stambol gate, the Old Palace, National Museum of Serbia, the oldest and most significant museum, and many other sites of Belgrade are inviting you to discover them.
