Live Art - Love Art - Free Art
The second leg of the work of three of the artists from the Free Art Society. The original piece was completed in acrylics, from scratch, with no sketches, from three artists (Thorn, Ani Morton and Siobhan O'Leary) who had never worked together and have hugely different styles.....It was tense at times on European Culture night in The Studio, home of Free Art and 11-11-2010 was the date set to go deeper into what had been kindled from the inspiration of musicians Gary Dunne, Robbie Hogan, and Kathy Henderson. Ray Beggan (Operation See-Saw) caught the atmosphere on camera that time. This time the winds howled and the roof leaked as the rains fell so hard that many shyed away from the roads......however, some hardy rock n roll art fans ventured out to play, Notably, Gurtrude (Free Art member) and Atsuko, Frank Byrne (innate, Mystery White Boys) playing 'no woman, no cry' as well as Gary Dunne who all helped entertain the crowd. The painting is ongoing now, until completion....no more open doors for this canvas, unless you happen to wander into the Studio while one of us is there painting :) Next time the doors are open for a 'Free Art' event is 17th Dec 2010 and more info on this can be found closer to the time on freeartsociety.net Thanks for watching!
Red Moon Rising
Red Moon Rising Music Project - performed by pioneering vocal artists - Ruth Wieder Magan, Avia Gurman and Deborah Shayovitz from Israel. Iris Eyal accompanying on the Celtic Harp is renowned as the finest Celtic Harpist in the Middle East and special guest Brian Ó hUiginn, on uileann pipes.
It is a contemporary music-theatre performance. It is a wild and loving peace ritual.
Ritual Lullabies and Keening songs from Ireland and South America blend with Sacred Medieval Chant and Contemporary Popular Music.
The singers and instrumentalists together weave a healing ritual where the magic and power of the female voice is revealed. Celebrating, wailing, crying and rejoicing the participants both challenge and embrace humanity. Can the desire to spill blood be transformed, returned to its source? Can the female voice remind us the very fragile beauty of our bodies, the eternity of our souls?
