17th Century Gun Money James II 1690 Half-Crown May Irish Coin
Gunmoney was an issue of coins minted in Ireland during the Williamite war between William III and James II.
James was short of the silver needed to mint money to pay his troops, and to pay for supplies. He addressed this by issuing a token coinage made from obsolete cannon and other metallic scrap, to be redeemable later in silver.

G. Farnaby-The Old Spagnoletta
Giles Farnaby (c. 1563 -- November 1640) was an English composer and virginalist of the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Giles Farnaby was born about 1563, perhaps in Truro, Cornwall, England or near London. His father, Thomas, was a Cittizen and Joyner of London, and Giles may have been related to Thomas Farnaby (c. 1575--1647), the famous schoolmaster of Kent. But it was his cousin Nicholas Farnaby (c. 1560--1630), who may have turned him to music. Nicholas was a virginal maker, at this time a generic word that included the entire family of plucked keyboard instruments: the harpsichord, virginal, muselar and doubtless the clavichord, and it is for these instruments that Farnaby's compositions are best known. Like his father however, Giles trained as a joiner or cabinet-maker, starting his apprenticeship in about 1583, and gave this trade as his occupation for most of his life.
He married Katherine Roane on 28 May 1587, and first lived in the parish of St. Helen's, Bishopsgate, in London. The couple had a daughter, Philadelphia, baptised on 8 August 1591, when the Farnabys moved to the neighbouring parish of St. Peter's, Westcheap, and later a son, Richard Farnaby (1594--1623). After Philadelphia's premature death, prior to 1602, the Farnabys had three more children: a son Joy (1599), a daughter, also baptised Philadelphia (1602), and a last son, Edward (1604).
In spite of his social background, hardly suited at this time to a university education, he graduated from the University of Oxford on 7 July 1592, receiving a Bachelor's degree in music. This was the very same day that John Bull, his eminent fellow composer to be, obtained his degree: Bull evidently knew Farnaby, and influenced his musical style considerably.
In 1602 the family moved to Aisthorpe in Lincolnshire, where they remained until at least 1610. Farnaby obtained a position in the household of Sir Nicholas Saunderson of Fillingham, as music teacher to his children. By 1614 the Farnabys had returned to London, registered at Grub Street, Cripplegate in 1634, where Giles died in 1640 and was buried on 25 November.
Farnaby is considered one of the great English virginalists, together with William Byrd, John Bull, Orlando Gibbons, Peter Philips and Thomas Tomkins among others. Unlike them however, he is the only one not to have been a professional musician.
His best known works are included in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, which contains 52 of his pieces. Notable among them are 11 fantasias, a wonderful and technically demanding set of variations called Woody-Cock, and short but charming descriptive pieces such as Giles Farnabys Dreame, His Rest, Farnabyes Conceit and His Humour. There are also four pieces by his son, Richard. In addition to his keyboard compositions, Farnaby also composed madrigals, canzonets and psalms.

AWC WrestlePalooza IV Promo
As was announced at AWC: Uncivilized this past Friday in Truro a former WWE/TNA superstar had signed a short-term deal with AWC, that superstar is none other than Gangrel (Vampire Warrior in TNA) Gangrel made a huge impact when he destroyed both Rob Hollywood and Steven Kasabian in the main event of Uncivilized. However, Gangrel has his sights set on WrestlePalooza IV which will be held in the city later this month and it he has hand-chosen his opponent to be Doug Robar. Robar no-showed Uncivilized and has been on bad terms with AWC management lately but apparently has been in talks with managment lately about coming in for a one-time-only deal to face Gangrel, apparently all thats left to do is sign the name on the dotted line.

Eton Field Game (1959)
Eton, Berkshire.
Various shots show boys of Eton College preparing for and playing the 'Field Game', which is apparently a cross between soccer and rugby football, with lots of strange rules added in. Several shots of the scrums and then boys running with the ball. In a weird move, one of the boys takes small steps to the side while dribbling the ball delicately; his team mates walk sideways in a line beside him, each with their hand on the shoulder of the boy next to them.
Another strange part of the game involves most of the boys standing in front of the goal with the ball on the ground before them; three other boys stand one behind the other (with arms hooked over the next one's shoulders) facing the group and jig up and down in unison on the spot before charging towards the ball and boys, creating a scrum - it looks quite comical!
More general shots of the game and young boys watching.
Note: on file is a small booklet giving the rules of the game. Mute neg is badly cut; print used for telecine transfer.

Etonian school boys' skiing app hits the slopes
It may be far from the ski slopes, but here at Eton College, these two school boys are bringing snow to smart phones.
Ski fans Kit Logan and Ed Hardy - both 17-years-old - are now enjoying the fruits of their labours having launched their own free slope-based phone application, called Edge.
It happened after they created their own website, which provided resort recommendations. Hardy and Logan then designed the app having won a work space at a London-based start-up incubator.
Edge uses GPS technology to provide skiers and snowboarders with slope analytics including speed, distance and vertical change.
Users can then share that information on social media sites including Facebook and Foursquare to compete with friends or keep personal records.
The students' school, Eton College in Windsor, is an independent boarding school for 13 to 18-year-old boys. Former students include the UK's Prime Minister, David Cameron, and Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.
Having both achieved top grades at GCSE, Logan and Hardy are now in the process of studying for their A-levels, but they still find time to work on Edge outside of classes.
Logan says one inspiration was other smart phone activity apps.
It was a lot of running and a lot cycling in cities particularly where there were these apps popping up for tracking and information, he says.
It was basically competing against each other in specific tracks around London that made us think, 'Well hang on, why doesn't this happen for skiing?
Having begun to create Edge, Hardy says they discovered a wealth of interest from winter sports fans for exploring and analysing their slope runs.
There are lots of new sensors on the market, people are really interested in the data that they're accumulating during these sports, he says.
They want to see the speed that they hit when they went over that jump, they want to see the vertical distance, the altitude, all that kind of information that previously they've not even been aware of. It's suddenly coming to the forefront and it's a way to compete and further enjoy your experience on the mountains.
Slope analytics is just one part of Hardy and Logan's ski app.
Building on their resort website, Edge also features a database of around 600 ski resorts with detailed reviews of venues - from restaurants to ski hire.
Hardy says it's all about giving tourists more choice when it comes to organising their own winter trips.
It's helpful for them to see the venue's around the resort, he says.
Previously you'd kind of stick with a group and you didn't have the information available to you to truly understand the venues around the resort. With us, we're seamlessly hooked in with Foursquare, you don't need an account to sign in, just go on, tap a venue and you can flick through the photos, get a feel for the venue that you're visiting and then make the decision to go there.
In the creation of their app, Hardy and Logan have received backing from some reputable investors.
Entrepreneur Frank Meehan, who mentored and backed Nick D'Aloisio - a British schoolboy who last year sold his news-summary app 'Summly' to Yahoo for millions - is among their investors.
Now, Edge can claim 35 million metres skied and 1,000 unique resort check-ins since launching in December 2013.
But Logan and Hardy aren't content with just bringing social media to the slopes, in the future they plan to create similar apps for other sports such as biking.
According to Hardy, that's where social media is headed.
There's something about sitting behind a computer to socialise with people that's almost in a way not sociable at all, he says.
It's like extra fun, says Susanne Matena, a snowboarder from the Netherlands.
Skier Ferenc Bodor from Germany agrees.
