Collectives Show At Lincoln Arts Project
A Collection of Bostonia Collectives
A Collection of Bostonia Collectives curated by Fish McGill
Those who believe artists can thrive toiling alone in their studio are
living a lie. Today's success stories feature artists from many mediums
coming together to create projects impossible to conceive on their own.
These collections of collectives around the world team up and tackle large
scale public works of art, museum exhibitions, murals and much more.
Contemporary artists ranging from Friends With You to Jeff Koons to The Yarn
Bombers to Banksy and beyond all work in concert with their teams of
specialists to realize amazing projects. Nobody is going at it alone anymore
especially in the Hub of the Universe, the city with the Dirty Water, The
Capitol of the Commonwealth, the fair city of Boston Massachusetts.
Boston is the proud home of a collection of collectives creating an exciting
body of work. Each of these crews hop over the traditional paths of gallery
representation and getting work into museum collections in favor of silk
screened prints and shirts, live mural painting in new arenas for art, salon
style shows in restaurants and bars, knitting up and down sign posts,
creating superhero personas to live out through their art and much more.
You are invited to see this array of talent for the first time collected in
one spot specifically featuring collaboration amongst artists. See the ins
and outs of how they work together on projects. Enjoy their personal
drawings, paintings, photos and more. Get insight into the inspiring process
of working with a crew of fellow artists. Start a team of your own.

Virtual Tour: Cody Firearms Museum
The Cody Firearms Museum is a part of the Buffalo Bill Center for the West, and one of the very best firearms museums in the US (if not the world). It incorporates a number of substantial donated collections, the most impressive of them being the Winchester factory collection. Thanks to this, the museum has a fantastic array of Winchester production and prototype arms, as well as an extensive archive of factory documentation and correspondence. Unlike many museums, it also makes a concerted effort to actually display as much of its collection as possible - currently approximately 4,000 of its 7,000 weapons are visible to the public.
A project is in progress to completely renovate the galleries, bringing yet more of the collection into displays, and improving the interpretation and information presented with the guns. I'm really excited to see that process take shape; I think there is a tremendous potential for it to to really set a bold standard for arms museums everywhere. The Curator, Ashley Hlebinsky, is an energetic and passionate advocate for the institution (I will be posting an interview with her next Monday), and has a great vision for the institution!
The Museum is located in Cody, Wyoming and is part of a larger overall institution, the Buffalo Bill Center. Alongside the firearms museum there is also a natural history museum, a museum of the Plains Indians, a Western art museum, and a museum dedicated to Buffalo Bill Cody himself and his Wild West Show. This is an assortment sure to provide plenty of interesting diversion for any follow travelers who may not want to spend a day in a firearms museum (I know, who wouldn't want to do that?). You can have a great time there, and then continue your trip into the glorious Yellowstone National Park just a few miles west of Cody. Or if you are more interested in human events than nature, two and a half hours to the northeast is the site of the epic Battle of the Little Bighorn (or as its victors called it, the Battle of the Greasy Grass).
But whatever finds you in Wyoming or Montana, the Cody Firearms Museum is a must-see stop for anyone interested in firearms history and development.

John Hansard Gallery | 12 Countries | University of Southampton International Community
On 12 May 2018, John Hansard Gallery opened its new home at Studio 144 in the heart of Southampton’s Cultural Quarter, with a headline exhibition of works by the renowned international artist Gerhard Richter in partnership with ARTIST ROOMS.
Alongside the opening exhibition, John Hansard Gallery commissioned a project with Southampton’s international student community at University of Southampton responding to one specific work on show on the Gallery’s walls. With focus on Richter’s work 48 Portraits, a series of 48 black and white photographs, the subjects of these portraits are all born between 1824 and 1904 of white, male, central European and North American origins prominent in the fields of literature, science, philosophy and music.
12 Countries saw 12 students from 12 different countries responding to 48 Portraits, with the aim to increase interaction between the University of Southampton’s Student Union (clubs and societies) and the University of Southampton Malaysian Campus.
Places to see in ( Rawtenstall - UK )
Places to see in ( Rawtenstall - UK )
Rawtenstall is a town at the centre of the Rossendale Valley, in Lancashire, England. It is the seat for the Borough of Rossendale, in which it is located. The town lies 17.4 miles north of Manchester, 22 miles east of Preston and 45 miles south east of the county town of Lancaster. Nearby towns include Bacup, Haslingden and Ramsbottom.
The name Rawtenstall has been given two possible interpretations. The older is a combination of the Middle English routen ('to roar or bellow'), from the Old Norse rauta and the Old English stall 'pool in a river' (Ekwall 1922, 92). The second, more recent one, relates to Rawtenstall's identification as a cattle farm in 1324 and combines the Old English ruh 'rough' and tun-stall 'the site of a farm' (Mills 1991, 269), or possibly, 'buildings occupied when cattle were pastured on high ground' (Mills 1976, 125).
The earliest settlement at Rawtenstall was probably in the early medieval period, during the time when it formed part of the Forest of Rossendale in the Honour of Clitheroe, and consisted of simple dwellings for forest servants and animals. More substantial buildings may have followed in the 15th and 16th centuries with corn and flour mills.
Its neighbouring communities in the valley are Bacup, Haslingden and Ramsbottom. The area is bounded to the north by Loveclough and Whitewell Bottom, to the east by Waterfoot and Cowpe and to the south by Townsend Fold and Horncliffe. The River Irwell passes through the town on the first part of its route between Bacup and Manchester. Over recent years the area has become increasingly popular with visitors, attracted by historic buildings, dramatic landscapes and fine walking country.
Rawtenstall railway station also serves the town, but since the closure of the main line to Manchester, it now operates mainly as a tourist route, as part of the East Lancashire Railway, of which Rawtenstall station forms the northern terminus. The M66 motorway from Manchester is linked to Rawtenstall via the A56 bypass, allowing for a driving time between Manchester and Rawtenstall of around half an hour.
Police facilities in Rawtenstall were one of five sites used for the training of new recruits to the Lancashire Constabulary. In late 2011, due to funding cuts, Rawtenstall Police Station, along with various other stations in the area, closed down. Rawtenstall is also the location of the area's county and magistrates' courts.
Whitaker Park is located on the outskirts of the town centre, and consists of the former house of the mill owner George Hardman, set in extensive landscaped grounds. Donated to the township in the early 20th century for the purposes of civic recreation, the house now contains the Whitaker which is Rossendale's Museum and Art Gallery, whilst the gardens and surrounding land are laid out as a public park.
( Rawtenstall - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Rawtenstall . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Rawtenstall - UK

Forgotten Painting Fetches $4M
Robert Warren was poking through his art gallery's closet when he stumbled on an old painting hidden behind a table.
At first, it didn't look like much: a dingy, oil-on-wood panel of nude mythological figures. It had suffered water damage, and it was cracked in places.
I didn't think it was anything of value, said Warren, executive director of the Hoyt Sherman Place art complex in Des Moines, Iowa. I wasn't sure why it would've been in that closet.
This was right before Presidents Day weekend in 2016. The story might have ended there, but on the back of the painting Warren found what looked like an auction sticker.
And from that clue he began an extended sleuthing journey that would eventually uncover the truth: The painting is the work of 16th-century Dutch master Otto van Veen (1556-1629) and it's likely worth more than $4 million.
