The highlight of this property is the beautiful native forest and all that it contains. It is part of a large forested area with another Trust for Nature property adjoining to the east. The predominant trees in the bush are messmate and narrow-leaved peppermint. They occur with brown stringybark in the drier areas and with mountain grey (some of which are extremely large) in the wetter areas. Other trees include silver wattle, black wattle, blackwood, hazel pomaderris, blanket leaf and mutton wood. The understory ranges from open to dense and includes ferns, various banksias, handsome flat-pea, common correa, dusty miller, prickly moses, purple coral pea, dusty daisy, cats claw grevillea, yellow rice flower, prickly tea tree, furze hakea, wire grass, hop goodenia, white elder-berry, wonga vine, austral clematis, small-leafed clematis, love creeper, tasman flax lily, grass trigger plant, slender knotweed, native violets, milk maids, running postman, bidgee widgee, common fringe lily and drooping mistletoe. In the bush area of the domestic area the uncommon long pink bells thrive. The property has a range of orchids including common bird, rosy hyacinth, mayfly, alpine greenhood and small tongue.
The bush is home to a wide range of native wildlife. Of particular note are the lyrebirds that are plentiful. There are also wallabies, wombats, echidna and many smaller animals including frogs, lizards and insects. Lyrebirds are, of course, not the only birds. Upwards of 70 birds species are said to have been identified. The birds are a constant source of enjoyment.
