I Know You Got Me | Yellowknife Wedding Video
Now here’s some romance for ya. Jordan and Aislinn worked together at Aislinn’s family owned sports shop in downtown Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Jordan was smitten from the moment he saw Aislinn. So, as any savy salesmen would do, he charmed her by winning an in-shop contest to sell a baby stroller that had been for sale for some time. His prize? He got to choose. He asked that the store’s team is taken out for a staff dinner. That dinner led to them first sharing that they were crazy for each other.
Fast forward to the next in store challenge. Sell a watch that no one seemed interested in. This time the prize would be a dinner for just the two of them. By the end of the day, Jordan presented Aislinn with the sales receipt for that watch. He had done it!
So, that year when Aislinn unwrapped her Christmas present from Jordan, the watch she had thought was long gone turned out to have been bought by her very determined and creative now boyfriend.
I can’t believe how amazing it was to witness their day. Fierce support for these two was pouring out from friends, family, and faith. Finally being able to capture a wedding in my hometown was so special.

Vote for the Yellowknife Public Library in the Aviva Community Fund 2017
VOTE HERE:
We want to create a holistic public library for the community of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. This will be a space that will engage your mental, physical, and spiritual health using western and traditional knowledge.
The idea:
- We want to bring in self regulation and exercise equipment like, alternative seating like yoga balls, light therapy lamps (SAD lamps), a drinking fountain, yoga mats, and riding work stations.
- Cultural environment: We will build a tent frame/tipi and bring in a boulder to sit on as a way to bring the outside, inside.
- Literature: We will buy more books and audiovisual resources related to physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional health. We will build physical literacy kits for all the seasons! There are activity books where you can read while playing games at home.
Holistic health and increased programming: Dene games, traditional Dene medicine, multi-faith presentation, yoga for families, mental health talk, a breastfeeding event, and a local hiking talk.
Sustainability:
This equipment and programming are inexpensive, and after the initial start up cost, the staff and patrons will be responsible for ensuring the long-term sustainability of the holistic library.
This idea is unique, and if we win, we will be the FIRST PUBLIC LIBRARY IN CANADA with a holistic space. We hope this will inspire other public libraries to follow!
Yellowknife Public Library is the largest public library in the Northwest Territories, serving its 20,000 residents and visitors.

We are Canada
made up of 10 Provinces
and 3 territories
with capitals in all
We’re here to teach you all and then
some facts that go along with them
So sing along with me

I am Alberta
My capital is Edmonton
I am a Province of Canada
My time zone is in Mountain
My flower’s the wild rose
My tree’s the Lodgepole Pine
My birds the Great-horned Owl
and my scenery is fine
Hello I’m Quebec
In case you didn’t notice me
My capital is also Québec
with an Accent aigu: é
I am a French-speaking province
of this Canadian country
And I’m the largest province by area
in Canada you see
I am Saskatchewan
My capital is Regina
Royal Saskatchewan Museum

I became a province of
Canada in 1905
and my provincial bird
is a Sharp-tailed grouse that can fly
I’m British Columbia
Victoria’s my capital
Canada’s westmost province
touching the Pacific coast
I have lots of mountain ranges
Whistler Mountains my most famous
If you’re looking to ski or snowboard
I have lots of these places
Aye my Manitoba
my capital’s Winnipeg
I’m a province of Canada
I’m not pulling your leg
Pasqueflower’s my Provincial flower
GreatGrey Owl’s my Bird
I have Arctic Tundra in the North
And southern farmland to herd
Hey I’m Ontario
My capital is Toronto
The Hudson Bays to my North
And the US to my south you know
Half of Lake Ontario
sits in my Province you see
It’s one of the 5 great lakes
4 of them do border me
We are Canada

August 1, 2015 10:09 AM EDT ... There’s the Internet, strip bars and hotels, and yet parts of the city still feel like you’re stepping out of time. Home to the Dene people as well as Canadians from everywhere, you’re never more than 300 kilometres away from the oldest rock formation on Earth and places where the First Nations have lived since beyond imagination.
Southwest of the city — and 40 minutes by plane — in the Deh Cho region, you can stand in the Nahanni National Park below endless ranges and towering cliffsides missed by glaciers. Great Slave Lake and the Mackenzie River both evoke ancient histories of an ancient land, and if lingering on a dock in busy Muskoka is one thing, standing on the shoreline of the Slave is to fade toward an eternal sense of place.
This sense of a lost time has also come to me through experiences writing for the twice-weekly Yellowknifer, the city’s thriving, and long-standing, local press. The Yellowknifer is such a throwback newsboys and newsgirls still hawk the paper on city corners.
“We sell at 75 cents a pop, and give the kids a quarter for every paper sold,” says managing editor Bruce Valpy, a transplanted former playwright from Saint John, N.B.
The printing press, a hulking blue colossus that roars when running, lies a few doors beyond the newsroom. The paper is found in every variety store and shopping depot in town; copies linger in diners, gas stations and restaurants. Yellowknifers rely on it to tell them about themselves, to say nothing of breaking stories from the north through the 20 territorial titles with names like the Inuvik Drum and the Kivaaliq News, all run on the same press and produced by a 14-member newsroom, with writers filing from around the territories. ...
