Brüd - Live at The Yorkshire House Lancaster (Part 1)
Brüd Live 12-12-09
This recording has only just recently emerged when a team of government-appointed receivers went into the now-closed BERG record company in Bremen, Germany. They auctioned off this footage to recoup losses for BERG'S numerous creditors. This particular tape reel was found in the company's underground vault complex and was rumoured to have originally been compiled as part of a live DVD featuring the band. The DVD in question was believed to be a visual diary -produced by the band themselves- of all their UK tour dates. It auctioned for only £1500 here in London last year -a true bargain!
Brüd have been 'inextricably' linked to the demise of the BERG Holdings Corporation by the media recently and disbanded late in December 2010. There have been many reports that the two front men, Herman Jerricho and Arnold Gunther, were sighted fleeing to 'inhospitable' climates whilst at an international airport in February 2011. These climates are believed to include the town of Prypiat, northern Ukraine, and Centralia -a similar ghost town- in Pennsylvania, America. The elusive third member of the band, Josef Abdul Heston, has been well documented in travelling to Tangier, northern Morocco. When interviewed recently he described his new home as 'My very own Interzone'.
These UK gigs were organised surreptitiously by the band's manager Francis Zoblov from 2008-2010 -as the group were deemed too risky to perform on the Continent due to their tax-evasive exploits. There were also many angry shareholders who suffered after the collapse of BERG across Germany, France and Belgium --including countless members of the public. Gigs were therefore quite small and ill informed, with advertising taking place on a local scale to prevent information reaching mainland Europe; small venues were also booked so as not to raise the attention of the German government. Although many members of the audience were unaware as to the prevelance of the band they were watching, small numbers of tickets had been sold for high prices on the black market which are said to have been the main bankroll behind the entire venture. Brüd were trained to use mild Lancastrian accents and English forenames during their visit to further conceal their true identity, but if you listen carefully you can detect some Bavarian intonations when they address the crowd.
Wish I had been one of the lucky ones to actually attend!

John Lennon
We listen to old rock-and-roll
under the comeback sun,
my girl and I, and talk of kids,
but oh, where's John?
I watched the game that winter night
the newsman said he's gone:
imagine there's no heaven, oh
then oh, where's John?
I sent my love to Yoko, and
dear Julian and Sean,
but all that they could answer me
was oh, where's John?
I don't know why that man cracked up
or who sold him the gun:
it's you and I who make the laws,
and oh, where's John?
That little war, the English let
the Argentine boys down
into the waves, and who spoke out,
and oh, where's John?
I love the earth, like always, but
it's hard to write a song:
it's not as good as it once was,
and oh, where’s John?
