KRAKOW (CRACOW), EXPLORING the famous medieval MARKET SQUARE (POLAND) ????️

The main square is a square space surrounded by historic townhouses (kamienice) and churches. The center of the square is dominated by the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), rebuilt in 1555 in the Renaissance style, topped by a beautiful attic or Polish parapet decorated with carved masks. On one side of the cloth hall is the Town Hall Tower (Wieża ratuszowa), on the other the 10th century Church of St. Adalbert and 1898 Adam Mickiewicz Monument. Rising above the square are the Gothic towers of St. Mary's Basilica (Kościół Mariacki). Kraków Main Square does not have a town hall, because it has not survived to the present day.

Krakow, Poland - Travel Around The World | Top best places to visit in Krakow
Top best places to visit in Krakow
Krakow second biggest polish city, lies in the south of Poland. One of the most important polish city with the great history. Official name is The Royal Capital City of Krakow. Central point of city center is Adam Mickiewicz Monument. The Main Square is dominated by the Town Hall Tower, Cloth Hall and St. Mary’s Basilica. Florianska Street is part of The Royal Route which begins at Wawel Hill continues through the center and leads to Florian’s Gate. On the other side of the walls there is Planty park surrounding the Old Town and Barbican, a historic gateway into the medieval city. The Grunwald Monument at the center of Matejko Square, also part of the Royal Route, is located just behind the Barbican. On the way back to the center we suggest you to see the Slowacki Theater. Old Town has many squares the Little Marketplace and the Stefanus Square are ones of the biggest.
Jagiellonian University is one of the best and the oldest university in Europe and its oldest part is the Collegium Maius. On the way to Wawel Castle you should not miss two monasteries Franciscans and
Dominicans. St. Mary Magdalene Square is the oldest part of the Old Town with the column of Peter Skarga and St. Peter and Paul Church. Wawel Castle is a symbolic place of great significance for Polish people. The seat of Polish monarchs... Coronation of Polish kings took place in this cathedral. The Royal Castle and the Cathedral is the best highlight of the city. Don’t forget about Wawel Dragon, one of the symbols of Krakow.
Kazimierz was a separate town, today, part of it, is a Jewish district, here you can find synagogues and Jewish hotels and restaurants. Around Remuh Synagogue there is even a small Jewish cemetery. This is also a good place for a nightlife, Near the New Square are a lot of bars and restaurants. The Old Town Hall is on the Wolnica Square. In this area there are several important churches. St. Micheal’s Church or Church on the Rock is the best example. Many famous Poles are buried here. And behind this church is Vistula River... just a stone’s throw from the Wawel Castle.
Krakow is not only Old Town and Kazimierz. There are some other interesting districts like Podgorze and Nowa Huta which means New Steel Mill. It was build by communists and it is very typical of socialist realism.
Not far away from historic center there is a large green space called Blonie If you want to see great view of the city you have to visit the Kosciusko Mound.

Krakow Travel Guide - Poland Magical Time
Krakow Travel Guide - Poland Magical Time
Kraków (Cracow) is not only a historical and visual gem, it's Poland's second largest city and covers both banks of the Wisla (or Vistula) river. At the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, the metropolitan area has more than 1.4 million inhabitants if you include the surrounding communities. Kraków is also known as Cracow, or Krakow (without the diacritic) and dates back to at least the 7th century. It was the capital of Poland from 1038 to 1569 and then of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1569 to 1596 (1609 by some accounts) and this long history has made it one of the leading hubs of Polish academic, cultural, and economic life.
Although Kraków is officially divided into eighteen dzielnica or boroughs, each with a considerable degree of autonomy within the municipal government, this division is relatively recent and prior to March 1991, the city had been divided into just the four quarters of Podgórze, Nowa Huta, Krowodrza and the ancient town centre of Kraków itself.
(The historic Old City is now officially situated in District (I), Stare Miasto. Even though the words Stare Miasto mean 'old town', it should not be confused with the historic old town of Krakow itself, as the medieval old town is only a small central part of District I Stare Miasto).
Some of the communities around the edge of Kraków can show you real Polish life away from the tourist-focused economy of the centre.
Kraków distinct areas:
Old Town — Consists of the historic Kraków Old Town, as well as the Wawel castle hill, Nowe Miasto (New Town), Nowy Świat (New World), Kleparz, Okół, which previously was situated between the Wawel hill and the Old Town but soon became part of the latter, Piasek, Stradom and Warszawskie (partly in Prądnik Czerwony). Kraków's historic centre, covering the Old Town and Wawel was entered on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1978. These are the most popular tourist destinations, and if your time is limited, you would be best sticking to these. Kazimierz - Area located really close to the Old Town, independent city in medieval times with a Christian quarter in the West and a former largely Jewish quarter in the East.
Western part
Zwierzyniec — The greenest area in Krakow; includes Błonia, Las Wolski forest and the Kosciuszko Mound.
Krowodrza
Grzegórzki
Prądnik Czerwony
Prądnik Biały
Bronowice
Southern part
Podgórze — The area on the southern bank of the river Vistula, where the Jewish ghetto was located during the Nazi occupation.
Dębniki — Green area to the South West of Old Town, which includes the Tyniec Monastery.
Łagiewniki-Borek Fałęcki
Swoszowice
Podgórze Duchackie
Bieżanów-Prokocim
Eastern part
Nowa Huta — The New Steel Mill area built in the communist era.
Czyżyny
Mistrzejowice
Bieńczyce
Wzgórza Krzesławickie
Depending on your level of fitness, you can see the whole of the city centre without needing any transport. There are some beautiful walking routes, try the Royal Way or the Planty park that surrounds the old city all the way from Florian's Gate to Wawel castle. It is very relaxing. There is also a well cared for river bank next to the castle to stroll around.

Welcome to beautiful Kraków! In this video my dear viewer you can see mainly the Historic Cloth Hall, therefore first some information about this beautiful building. The Kraków Cloth Hall (Polish: Sukiennice, pronounced in Lesser Poland, dates to the Renaissance and is one of the city's most recognizable icons. It is the central feature of the main market square in the Kraków Old Town and also is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978.
Cloth Hall was once a major centre of international trade. Traveling merchants met there to discuss business and to barter. During its golden age in the 15th century, the hall was the source of a variety of exotic imports from the east – spices, silk, leather and wax – while Kraków itself exported textiles, lead, and salt from the Wieliczka Salt Mine.
In the immediate vicinity of the hall, the Great Weigh House and the Small Weigh House existed until the 19th century. Other, similar cloth halls have existed in other Polish as well as other European cities such as in Ypres, Belgium; Braunschweig, and in Leeds, England.
Kraków was Poland's capital city and was among the largest cities in Europe already from before the time of the Renaissance. However, its decline started with the move of the capital to Warsaw in the very end of the 16th century. The city's decline was hastened by wars and politics leading to the Partitions of Poland at the end of the 18th century. By the time of the architectural restoration proposed for the cloth hall in 1870 under Austrian rule, much of the historic city center was decrepit. A change in political and economic fortunes for the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria ushered in a revival due to newly established Legislative Assembly or Sejm of the Land. The successful renovation of the Cloth Hall, based on design by Tomasz Pryliński and supervised by Mayor Mikołaj Zyblikiewicz, Sejm Marshal, was one of the most notable achievements of this period.
The hall has hosted many distinguished guests over the centuries and is still used to entertain monarchs and dignitaries, such as Charles, Prince of Wales and Emperor Akihito of Japan, who was welcomed here in 2002. In the past, balls were held here, most notably after Prince Józef Poniatowski had briefly liberated the city from the Austrians in 1809. Aside from its history and cultural value, the hall still is still used as a center of commerce.
In this video you can see among other :
0:42 - Cloth Hall
2:44 and 4:08 - historic Town Hall
5:00 - The sculpture of Igor Mitoraj Eros Bendato
Enjoy the walk!

POLAND - WikiVidi Documentary
Poland , officially the Republic of Poland , is a sovereign country in Central Europe. It is a unitary state divided into 16 administrative subdivisions, covering an area of 312679 km2 with a mostly temperate climate. With a population of over 38.5 million people, Poland is the sixth most populous member state of the European Union. Poland's capital and largest city is Warsaw. Other cities include Kraków, Wrocław, Poznań, Gdańsk and Szczecin. The establishment of a Polish state can be traced back to 966, when Mieszko I, ruler of a territory roughly coextensive with that of present-day Poland, converted to Christianity. The Kingdom of Poland was founded in 1025, and in 1569 it cemented a longstanding political association with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania by signing the Union of Lublin. This union formed the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, one of the largest and most populous countries of 16th and 17th century Europe with a uniquely liberal political system which declared Europe's fir...
