Dr. Helen Caldicott in Saskatoon CBC SK November 1, 2012
CBC Saskatchewan covered Dr. Helen Caldicott's public talk at Third Avenue United Church in Saskatoon on November 1, 2012.
Just days after Dr. Caldicott's visit to Saskatoon, Prime Minster Stephen Harper announced he had finalized a deal to sell uranium to India, a country which refuses to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. So as Dr. Caldicott has stated, SK & Canada will continue to export poison and death to the world. India used Canadian nuclear technology to build and detonate a nuclear weapon in the 1970s. SK Premier is gleeful, and apparently prepared to believe India's plans to build 12 new nuclear reactors.

Before Dr. Caldicott delivered her public address, she was the guest of John Gormley on his radio call in program.
Listen to the program:
John Gormley also writes a column in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, and the day after Dr. Caldicott left town, and could not defend herself further, Gormley wrote a very nasty article attacking her. Rather than deal with the serious issues she has been raising for decades, he went after her personally:

In Herschel, Saskatchewan, there is an interpretive centre called ANCIENT ECHOES. It sits on undisturbed prairie where you can still see teepee rings and ancient petroglyphs left by the early inhabitants. It is truly a place of sanc- tuary set apart from this world.
Since 1997, the Exhibit Room has featured an 18-painting exhibit titled The Disappearance and Resurgence of the Plains Buffalo, by Metis artist Jo Cooper from Fronteneac, Quebec. The exibit tells the story of the plains tribes whose lives revolved around the buffalo, and how the changes in history brought about the animal's decline and near extinction.
The 2 poems used in this composition are part of the display at the interpretive centre. ancientechoes.ca

Joni Mitchell
Joni Mitchell, CC (born Roberta Joan Anderson; November 7, 1943), is a Canadian musician, singer songwriter, and painter. Mitchell began singing in small nightclubs in Saskatchewan and Western Canada and then busking in the streets and dives of Toronto. In 1965, she moved to the United States and began touring. Some of her original songs (Urge for Going, Chelsea Morning, Both Sides, Now, The Circle Game) were covered by notable folk singers, allowing her to sign with Reprise Records and record her own debut album in 1968.
Settling in Southern California, Mitchell, with popular songs like Big Yellow Taxi and Woodstock, helped define an era and a generation. Her 1971 recording Blue was rated the 30th best album ever made in Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Mitchell switched labels and began moving toward jazz rhythms by way of lush pop textures on 1974's Court and Spark, her best-selling LP, featuring the radio hits Help Me and Free Man in Paris.
