Panda playground: giant bear cubs play around in Chengdu, China
A China Central Television (CCTV) program broadcasting giant panda cub's daily life live on internet has been welcomed by the Chinese public, who have been impressed by the young pandas' vigorous side as well as the adult pandas' clumsiness.
The giant panda's most active stage of life is usually between the ages of one to three years old. As opposed to a common misunderstanding that giant pandas spend their entire life eating bamboo and sleeping, panda cubs actually spend approximately one third of their time moving around.
During this time, cubs can be seen playing alone, or play fighting with their peers, as shown on the internet broadcast.
Female pandas appear to be more aggressive than their male counterparts. After eating bamboo, the cubs begin to fight each other, an important form of entertainment in their daily lives.
In the giant panda kindergarten at the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding and Research Base, panda cubs can be seen taking part in heated play fights. At times when an opponent is absent, panda cubs can be seen tussling with a bamboo poles.

3rd generation traditional noodles factory found in Jenjarom !
The folks in Jenjarum are blessed with a unique offering right in their neighbourhood. This video takes you to the place where a 3rd generation noodle factory produces noodles without preservatives. These are the noodles that you experience in laksa noodles and Hokkien mee in the stalls in Jenjarom.
Manaweblife learned that this age-old noodle factory was started by one Chinese immigrant Mr Wong Chen Heong back in 1950 after his career journey took him from tree cutter to motorbike vegetable seller to noodle maker. This is because he loves noodles and decided to produce them himself. Indeed , back then the production process was all by hand, even the spicing of the dough was done with manually. Today , this factory is run by his family member Mr Wong Thien Fatt, who started doing it since he was 16 years old , now for almost 40 years. The video takes you through the noodle making process, from the interesting dough kneading with long wooden rolling pins that presses the dough with the use of human weight , to the now modern cutting of various sized noodles. The production from this factory is taken up 70% by the noodle-based food hawkers in Jenjarum and it is well-known for being preservative -free and good.
Let's hope that this traditional hand-made noodle process is kept going forever for all to witness and enjoy!
Check out the videos on the Jenjarom food discoveries in this channel and go experience the end result from this noodle factory at its best!

Everest & Tibetan Plateau as seen aerially
Aerial view of Everest and Tibetan Plateau.
Mount Everest, also known in Nepal as Sagarmāthā and in Tibet as Chomolungma, is the Earth's highest mountain. It is located in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas. Its peak is 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) above sea level and is the 5th furthest point from the center of the Earth. The international border between China and Nepal runs across the precise summit point. Its massif includes neighboring peaks Lhotse, 8,516 m (27,940 ft); Nuptse, 7,855 m (25,771 ft) and Changtse, 7,580 m (24,870 ft).
In 1856, the Great Trigonometric Survey of India established the first published height of Everest, then known as Peak XV, at 29,002 ft (8,840 m). The current official height of 8,848 m (29,029 ft) as recognized by Nepal and China was established by a 1955 Indian survey and subsequently confirmed by a Chinese survey in 1975. In 1865, Everest was given its official English name by the Royal Geographical Society upon a recommendation by Andrew Waugh, the British Surveyor General of India. Waugh named the mountain after his predecessor in the post, Sir George Everest. Tibet and Nepal were closed to foreigners at the time, preventing any attempts to obtain local names.
The Tibetan Plateau, also known in China as the Qinghai-Tibet (Qingzang) Plateau or Himalayan Plateau, is a vast elevated plateau in Central Asia or East Asia, covering most of the Tibet Autonomous Region and Qinghai Province in western China, as well as part of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir state of India. It stretches approximately 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) north to south and 2,500 kilometres (1,600 mi) east to west. With an average elevation exceeding 4,500 metres (14,800 ft), the Tibetan Plateau is sometimes called the Roof of the World and is the world's highest and largest plateau, with an area of 2,500,000 square kilometres (970,000 sq mi) (about five times the size of Metropolitan France). Sometimes termed the Third Pole, the Tibetan Plateau is the headwaters of the drainage basins of most of the streams in surrounding regions. Its tens of thousands of glaciers and other geographical and ecological features serve as a water tower storing water and maintaining flow. The impact of global warming on the Tibetan Plateau is of intense scientific interest.

Dai Li, the name of three-legged panda. He is living in the Dujiangyan Panda Base of the China Conservation Research Center for the Giant Panda.(CCRCGP) His left hind leg has been amputated after he was rescued at the bottom of a cliff. All bruised and battered from an apparent fall off the cliff. His body covered with cuts and gashes and his ear was bitten to pieces, evident of a near-fatal fight with one or more predators.

On the edge of Chengdu, in China's Sichuan province, a ceremony at a historic site honors a genius whose engineering legacy remains after more than two thousand years. The place’s name, Dujiangyan, meaning dam on the capital city’s river is a modest title for an undertaking of incredible scope. The great rivers of China helped the civilization flourish, but also brought devastation during years of severe flooding. In the third century B.C., Li Bing, serving the ruling Qin state, devised this system of weir works—levees, partial dams, and waterways—to regulate the flow of the Min River, the largest tributary of the Yangtze. Upriver from the Chengdu Plain rise the high Longmenshan—Dragon’s Gate Mountains. In springtime, meltwater pours down. By diverting part of the Min at Dujiangyan, Li Bing's system prevented floods and provided consistent irrigation for farming. On the eve of China's Qingming Festival, a day to celebrate ancestors, Dujiangyan hosts the Water Releasing Festival with traditional costumes and events honoring Li Bing, whose historical impact is as clear as the azure water of the Min River.

Clio Cup China R4: Tommy Chan's won after tense battle at Chengdu
Hong Kong driver Tommy Chan won R4 of 2013 Clio Cup China Series after an immense dual with FRD's Kenneth Ma. His 3rd win of the season extended his lead in the Championship. Ye Xingping, meanwhile, scored another Class B win.
R4 Pole-sitter Kenneth Ma did not make the mistake he made in the last round. He successfully held on to his lead in the first lap, while R3 winner Yang Xu lost a place to the fast starting Tommy Chan.
Kennth Ma and Tommy Chan then pulled a gap over them and the rest of the field. They set up their own battle for the win afterwards. At first, Kenneth Ma held a one-second lead over Tommy. But at the closing stage, Kenneth ran out of tires and Tommy would start to close the gap. He then made his move at Lap 12, took the lead and never looks back. He took the win by only 0.488 seconds of margin.
Kenneth Ma took 2nd, while Byron Tong overtook Yang Xu mid-way through the race and took 3rd.
Class B winner went to Ye Xingping again, after the opening lap's battle with Huang Yi. Huang took 2nd and Jian Bo brought up the field.
After 4 rounds, Tommy Chan extended his lead in the Championship with 132 points in his tally, while Kenneth Ma and Byron Tong in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The next race will stay in Chengdu International Circuit as a supporting race of CTCC on 23-25 August.

World’s first virtual train track unveiled in central China
The world's first virtual track train was unveiled on Friday in the city of Zhuzhou in central China's Hunan Province.
The train, which is 32 meters long and 3.4 meters high, can accommodate 307 passengers and has a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour.
Instead of tracks, the train runs along white-dotted lines on the test ground, controlled by hundreds of sensors. The train also uses rubber tires, which makes the ride like riding the bus.
Its lithium titanate battery enables the train to run 25 kilometers after just 10 minutes of charging.

2020 Volvo Polestar 1 – 600 hp Small Monster!
Polestar unveils its first car – the Polestar 1 – and reveals its vision to be the new electric performance brand
Polestar, Volvo Car Group’s performance brand, has today revealed its future as a new standalone electric performance brand. Polestar confirmed plans for its first three models, a new purpose-built production facility in China and a customer-focussed route to market that will set a new industry benchmark for performance vehicles.
Polestar also unveiled the 600hp Polestar 1, the company’s first car, which is set to roll off the production line in mid-2019. Polestar’s technology and product offering benefits from synergies and economies of scale enabled by the Volvo Car Group, helping Polestar to accelerate design, development and production processes at fraction of the time it takes other new entrants.
Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar said; “Polestar 1 is the first car to carry the Polestar on the bonnet. A beautiful GT with amazing technology packed into it - a great start for our new Polestar brand. All future cars from Polestar will feature a fully electric drivetrain, delivering on our brand vision of being the new standalone electric performance brand.
The Polestar 1 will form a halo for the future Polestar brand. The Polestar 1 is a two-door, 2+2 seat Grand Tourer Coupé with an ‘Electric Performance Hybrid’ drivetrain. An electric car supported by an internal combustion engine, it has a range of 150kms on pure electric power alone - the longest full electric range of any hybrid car on the market. Its output of 600hp and 1000Nm of torque places the car firmly in the performance car segment.
The Polestar 1 is based upon Volvo’s Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) but approximately 50% is new and bespoke, created by Polestar’s engineers. To reinforce its dynamic driving characteristics, Polestar 1 benefits from a host of new technologies, all aimed at making it a true driver’s car. Polestar 1 is the world’s first car to be fitted with the all-new class-leading Öhlins Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension (CESi) advanced chassis technology. A carbon fibre body reduces bodyweight and improves torsional stiffness by 45%, as well as lowering the cars’ centre of gravity. Additionally, Polestar 1 uses a double electric rear axle which enables torque vectoring. This supports the driver with precise acceleration on each wheel to keep the maximum road grip and maintain speed while cornering.
The Polestar 1 will be built in the state-of-the-art, purpose-built Polestar Production Centre in Chengdu, China. Currently under construction, it is due for completion in mid-2018.
Polestar will also move away from today’s traditional ownership model. Cars will be ordered 100% online and offered on a two or three year subscription basis. The zero-deposit, all-inclusive subscription will also add features such as pick-up and delivery servicing and the ability to rent alternative vehicles within the Volvo and Polestar range, all incorporated into one monthly payment.
The flat rate subscription means that having a Polestar car becomes a hassle free experience for the customer. This is facilitated by Phone-As-Key technology. It allows the owner to share a virtual key with a third party, and also enables access to a host of other on-demand features. This concierge service ensures that the customer only needs to focus on the enjoyment of driving.
All future cars from Polestar will have a fully electric powertrain. Polestar 2 will start production later in 2019 and will be the first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) from the Volvo Car Group. It will be a mid-sized BEV, joining the competition around the Tesla Model 3, and with consequently higher volumes than Polestar 1. The initial phase of the Polestar product roll out will then be completed by the subsequent arrival of a larger SUV-style BEV, the Polestar 3, which will create a modern expression of electric performance and driving dynamics.
The ordering and configuration of Polestar cars will be conducted online via a Polestar app or online portal. However, Polestar also recognises that customers still want to physically engage with the brand so Polestar will open a network of Polestar Spaces around the world. This is where future Polestar customers can interact with products and the brand. Polestar Spaces will be standalone facilities and not within existing Volvo retailer showrooms.
The order books for the new Polestar 1 open on 17 October 2017, with Polestar able to take expressions of interest from prospective customers immediately.
