SWC Free Walk 70, Part 3, Wells-Next-The-Sea to Cley-Next-The-Sea. 7/2/12.

Another bracing 10 miles in the snow and fantastic scenery of North Norfolk. Unfortunately though, this is only a short snapshot of this section as said weather drained my camera battery quicker than anticipated!
Leaving Wells, the walker is soon in familiar marshland surroundings; delightfully remote and tranquil today! After a short respite for a hot drink in the hostelry at Stiffkey, there's more marshland walking through to Morston and then on to Blakeney. Intensely bitter Easterly winds killed this walker's camera battery somewhere around Blakeney Eye, meaning no windmill at Cley in this video. Next time!
Another lovely day's walking, despite the chill, providing some less frequently seen snowy views of the coastline here.

Chichester Harbour Walk from Bosham

We had an amazing walk, suggested by fancyfreewalks.org from Bosham, round Chichester harbour, via Itchenor, Chichester Marina, Fishbourne and back to Bosham for sunset this Bank Holiday. The weather was perfect, and the views and wildlife were absolutely stunning! Our Jack Russell terrier absolutely adored it, and the whole route seems ideal for dogs (on the proviso that they're the right size for the foot ferry - we saw a couple of labradors on the boat, so basically, unless they're St Bernards, they should be fine). The route is 11 miles, so it's not a short walk, but the route is entirely flat, and easy going.

AccessTOG Cotter Force Miles Without Stiles Walk in the Yorkshire Dales

Updated: Cotter Force Walk is one of the Yorkshire Dales National Parks ‘Miles without Stiles’ walking routes.

This secluded waterfall is about two miles north-west of the town of Hawes and a mile north-west of the village of Hardraw towards the head of Wensleydale. There is some limited road side parking at the start of the walk.

Othello Tunnels

Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park, popularly called The Othello Tunnels is a provincial park located near Hope, British Columbia focused on the canyon of the Coquihalla River and a decommissioned railway grade, now a walking trail, leading eventually to Coquihalla Pass. Originally part of the Kettle Valley Railway, five tunnels and a series of bridges follow a relatively straight line through the gorge, which is lined with sheer, flat rock cliffs.

The park was established by Order-in-Council in as the Coquihalla Canyon Recreation Area, the upgraded and renamed with full provincial park status in 1997, at 151.3 hectares in size. It was expanded to its current 159 hectares in 2004.

The park's rock cliffs and relative close distance to Vancouver has resulted in many popular movies being filmed there. Rambo: First Blood, Shoot to Kill, The Adventures of Yellow Dog and Cabin in the Woods were all filmed in Coquihalla Canyon.

The location is easily recognizable when watching Rambo: First Blood where Sylvester Stallone hangs off the cliff while a helicopter tries to snipe him down.

As of May 2015, the tunnels have reopened after having been closed for over a year due to rockfall concerns.[1]

These are the Othello Tunnels also known as Quintette Tunnels as there is actually five of these tunnels.

However the Tunnel #3 almost appears to be one long tunnel, but there is a small opening about half way along, I guess that is enough to call it five tunnels.

These tunnels were designed by Andrew McCulloch to save going around the Coquihalla Canyon. The railbed crosses the Coquihalla River several times and the views are well worth the trip. The trestles have all been converted to walkways now, and it is a provincial park. It is located about 5km outside of Hope to the east.

These tunnels have been preserved as a Provincial Park and are one of the few things of the Kettle Valley Railway that have been saved for future generations to see.
