Flagstaff Update - April 5, 2017
Meg Roederer joined NAZ Today to discuss the city council meeting last night. They had to meet at the Coconino County board of supervisors’ chambers due to theirs being under construction. They discussed the purchase of new playground equipment for Thorpe Park, the annexation of 20 acres near Schultz Pass and the ordinance regarding the cable license franchise agreement. They also voted to move the city council meeting that falls on July 4th to July 5th. Roederer encourages the public to come to their weekly meetings, or stream them live. For the next couple meetings, the live stream can be found from the Coconino County website.
Roederer discussed the Mayor and council doing a meet greet with the Hopi tribe. Finally, April is Arizona’s Water Awareness month. Flagstaff plans to celebrate all month with events and activities. This will be kicked off at city hall. Flagstaff is also participating in Wyland Foundation’s National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation. Roederer encourages everyone to go to mywaterpledge.com to win prizes and conserve water. If Flagstaff ranks in the top in the nation there is a chance to win a Toyota Prius.

Disk Golf is a popular sport with all ages here in Flagstaff. The city has built a great course at the park in Thorpe St a few blocks north of Rt 66 and just west of old downtown. Its an 18 hole that is played in a beautiful forested setting....and its FREE to play. Several stores sell disks ranging from $7 up, with most being around $20.
Looks like a fun, low impact sport.

Starts off looking at Lowell Observatory (where Pluto was discovered). Then I go to the north end of NAU (Northern Arizona University).
During the winter, I've had over a foot of snow dumped on me here in one night.... Great town and people!
