At a distance of 26 km from Satara, 73 km from Panchgani, 77 km from Mahabaleshwar, 141 km from Pune & 294 km from Mumbai, Thoseghar Falls is a popular waterfalls located at Thoseghar village in Satara district of Maharashtra. It is one of the top waterfalls in Maharashtra and also one of the highest waterfalls in India. Thoseghar falls in among the most popular Satara places to visit.
Thoseghar waterfall is a scenic spot located at the edge of the Konkan region. The waterfall is drops through a series of cascades with a total height of about 500 m. This is a seasonal waterfall which is only seen in monsoon and drops into a deep gorge.
Thoseghar Falls is famous for its serenity, clam and quiet natural surroundings. It is a wonderful place where one can enjoy the beauty of the nature. There is a picnic area and a newly constructed platform which gives a good view of the waterfall. There is no way to enter into the falls but one can go to the starting point of the falls.

प. घाटाच्या पूर्वेकडील उतारावर सातारा जिल्ह्यात, साताराहून २५ किमी, अंतरावर ठोसेघर गावाजवळ ठोसेघर नावचा उत्तुंग असा धबधबा आहे. पुण्याहून सुमारे १४० किमी अंतरावर असलेल्या या ठिकाणी पोहचण्यास प्रथम पुणे - बंगुलुरू राष्ट्रीय महामार्गाने सातारा पर्यंत आणि तेथून पुढे १७ किमी वरील सज्जनगड मार्गे ठोसेघर नावाचे गाव लागते. गावाजावील एका दरीत येथे दोन उत्तुंग धबधबे असून याशिवाय पावसाळ्यात येथे अनेक लहान मोठे धबधबे उगम पावत असतात. हिरवळीने नटलेला हा परिसर सातारा वनविभागाच्या अखत्यारीत येत असून या धबधबा परिसरातील पर्यटनाचे व्यवस्थापन ठोसेघर येथील संयुक्त वन व्यवस्थापन समिती मार्फत कार्यान्वित आहे. धबधब्या कडे जाण्याच्या वाटेवर गावात प्रथम लागते ते येथील पार्किंग आणि तिकीटघर, येथून रीतसर प्रवेश केला कि प्रथम आहे ते येथील निसर्ग माहिती केंद्र, आणि काही निवास व्यवस्था. माहिती केंद्रात मांडलेल्या प्रदर्शानीतून आणि दृक्श्राव्य माध्यमाव्दारे येथील माहिती घेतली कि प्रथम मोठ्या धबधब्याकडे उतरण्यास सुरुवात करावी. हा धबधबा बघण्यासाठी खाली दरीत एक भव्य व मजबूत असा निरीक्षण मनोरा बांधलेला असून येथून डावीकडील सुमारे २०० मीटर उंचीचा मोठा धबधबा दिसतो आणि उजवीकडे छोट्या धबधब्याच्या तीन वेगवेगळ्या धारा दिसतात. जुलै ते नोव्हेंबर हा काळ येथे भेट देण्यास योग्य असून यावेळी हे धबधबे धोधो कोसळत असतात. याशिवाय पावसाळ्यात या दरीत अनेक लहान लहान धारा दरीत कोसळत असतात, या कोसळणाऱ्या जलप्रपाता मुळे आणि जंगलातील हिरवळीमुळे येथील निसर्ग सौंदर्य अधिकच बहरते. भोवताल गावातील हिरवीगार शेती, रिमझिम पडणारा पाऊस, धबधबा जवळून बघतांना उडणारे पाण्याचे तुषार इत्यादी अनुभवण्यासाठी या काळात येथील गर्दी अधिकच बहरते.
हा मोठा धबधबा बघून झाला कि थोडे वर चढून डावीकडील वाटेने छोट्या धबधब्याकडे जाता येते. हा धबधबा आपल्याला माथ्यावरून आणि अगदी जेथे कोसळतो त्या पायथ्याशी जाऊन सुद्धा बघता येते. धबधब्याच्या पायथ्याशी कातळात एक मानवनिर्मित गुफा असून ती सुमारे ३०० वर्षापूर्वी कोरलेली असावी. गुफेचा आकार २० फुट रुंद आणि सात फुट उंच असून जवळपास १०० फुट लांब असून ती थेट धबधबा जेथे कोसळतो त्या पायथ्यापर्यंत कोरलेली आहे. याठिकाणी केदारनाथ व भैरवनाथ या देवतांची भेट घडून येण्याचे हे स्थान आहे अशी आख्याकीय सुद्धा आहे. या ठिकाणाहून या धबधब्याच्या उंचीचा अंदाज येत नसल्याने तो खूपच लहान वाटतो म्हणून याला छोटा धबधबा म्हटल्या जाते. येथे उंचावरून कोसळणाऱ्या पाण्यामुळे घोंगावणारा आवाज वातावरण धीरगंभीर बनवून टाकतो. पाण्याचे उडणारे तुषार ओले चिंब भिजवून टाकतात. येथे मोठा डोह असल्यामुळे पाण्यात उतरणे मात्र धोकायदायक आहे.

There are a series of waterfalls in rainy season but two of them are big. One Chota Dhabdhaba (small) is about 15 to 20 metres and one Motha Dhabdhaba (large waterfall) is approx 200 metres in height. People come from all over Maharashtra to visit the area, especially during the rainy season, and July to November is best season to visit this waterfalls. Area comes under Satara forest department and Tourism management of this area managed by Thoseghar Village Eco Development Committee. One nature interpretation and information center also developed by forest department at entry gate. Tourist can watch waterfall from watch tower constructed in valley in front of Large Waterfall. Small waterfall have two watch point, on is on top of waterfall and one is at base of waterfall. one man made 300 year old cave at the base of small waterfall.

Transport connectivity
Thoseghar waterfalls can be reached using public transport, or by driving. There are regular buses from Swargate (Pune to Satara) and buses or rickshaws from Satara. A full view of the falls can be obtained by going to Chalkewadi where one can park their vehicles at a newly designated parking lot and then walking down the paved road for 0.5 km

There is a picnic area and a newly constructed platform which gives a good view of the waterfall; this platform can be entered in the valley, but it is not safe to do so when it is raining heavily.
