Thottada Beach is a beautiful beach in Kannur district of Kerala, south India. It is situated at Thottada just about 2.5 km from the NH 17 connecting Kannur town and Thalassery and 7 km from Kannur town. The virgin beach 800 meter long is ideal for sun bathing. Tourists could stay at the beach house or guest house near the beach. The Thottada river (a small one) flows into one end of the beach. There is also a dam/bund built across the river 3 decades ago to keep the fresh water from salt water. Away from the sea the river spreads to form swamps which makes a great habitat for various birds and fishes.

KIZHUNNA BEACH THOTTADA , Kannur
Kizhunna beach is one of the most popular beach destinations located around 11 km from Kannur. It is a secluded beach which is frequented by those who value solitude. The gentle wind and warm sands make for a delightful blend to simply have a stroll or a sunbath in the middle of the day.

കണ്ണൂർ ഓഥേൻസ് ഹോട്ടലിൽ നിന്നും തിരിച്ച ഞങ്ങൾ അന്ന് തങ്ങിയത് കണ്ണൂരിലെ തോട്ടട ബീച്ചിനടുത്തുള്ള ഒരു ബജറ്റ് റിസോർട്ടിൽ ആണ്. റിസോർട്ടിൽ വൈകിട്ട് എത്തിയ ഞങ്ങൾ യാത്രയുടെ ക്ഷീണം കാരണം നേരത്തെ തന്നെ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി. കടലിന്റെ ഇരമ്പലും കടൽക്കാറ്റിന്റെ താളവും എല്ലാം ആസ്വദിച്ച് ഞാൻ അന്ന് നന്നായി ഉറങ്ങി.
അടുത്ത ദിവസം അതിരാവിലെ തന്നെ ഞാൻ ഉറക്കം ഉണർന്ന്‌ തോട്ടട ബീച്ചിലേക്ക് നടന്നു. കണ്ണൂരിലെ സുന്ദരമായ ബീച്ചുകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് തോട്ടട ബീച്ച്. രാവിലെ കുറച്ചുപേർ ബീച്ചിൽ വ്യായാമത്തിനു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. കുറച്ചു മുക്കുവർ മീൻ പിടിക്കുവാനായി പോവുന്ന കാഴ്ചയും കണ്ടു. ഞാനും കടലിൽ ഒന്ന് മുങ്ങികുളിച്ചു. കുളിയൊക്കെ കഴിഞ്ഞ് എനിക്ക് തോട്ടട ബീച്ചിനടുത്തുള്ള ബാക്ക്വട്ടേഴ്‌സ് ഒക്കെ പോവണം എന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു, പക്ഷെ അപ്പോഴേയ്ക്കും വെയിലുറച്ചു.
പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങൾ സീഷെൽ റിസോർട്ടിലെ അംഗങ്ങൾക്കും മറ്റു ഗസ്റ്റുകൾക്കും ഒപ്പം അയക്കൂറ ചുടാനും കൊഞ്ചുകളെ ചുടാനും ഉള്ള തയ്യാറെടുപ്പിൽ കൂടി. പച്ചക്കുരുമുളക് ഒക്കെ അരച്ച് മസാലപ്പൊടികൾ ഒക്കെ ചേർത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയ മസാലക്കൂട്ടിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞ് അയക്കൂറയെ ഒരു വാഴയിലയിലാക്കി കനാലിന്റെ മുകളിൽ വെച്ചാണ് ചുട്ടതു. എന്നാൽ കൊഞ്ച് അതിനുവേണ്ടിയുള്ള സ്പെഷ്യൽ മസാലകളിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞ് അയക്കൂറയുടെ സൈഡിൽ വെച്ച് ചുട്ടെടുത്തു. ഇതെല്ലാം കൂടാതെ ഞങ്ങൾ അവിടെ നെയ്ച്ചോറും, നെയ് ചപ്പാത്തിയും, മീൻ കറിയും എല്ലാം കഴിച്ചു.
