Thredbo Valley Track Complete & Uncut - On a Gepida Asgard 1000, 29er Hardtail
The Thredbo Valley Track is a walking and Mountain Biking trail that runs from Thredbo Alpine Village (NSW, Australia) to the Lake Crackenback Resort 18km away. It passes through the Ngarigo Camp Ground and The Diggings Camp Ground as well as running through the Kosciuszko National Park.
There are five bridges en-route. The first three are suspension bridges and the other two are arch bridges.
The course is suitable for beginner mountain bikers up to the third bridge (about 5km), and then the course is suited to more experienced riders.
From the third bridge the path becomes one-way downhill to Lake Crackenback Resort.
The National Parks service suggests that this path would take about eight hours to walk one-way and about three hours to ride on-way.
I completed the course in about an hour and ten minutes averaging about 15km/h.
I wouldn't advise the full course for children or inexperienced riders. There is is limited mobile phone reception along the route and it stays away from the main road for the vast majority of its length.
It s a great ride though and you can see the changing flora along the route as it descends through the Thredbo Valley. The bridges are a surprise for their size and location. They can't be seen from the roadway at all. They are a great addition to the route and a credit to the National Parks and Wildlife Service NSW.
This route opens up a segment of track that differs to the other tracks around the Thredbo area.

The trip computer shows the speed in km/h. It shows distance in km. At the beginning of the video the trip meter was reading 1.00km. This is because I rode 1km from the main village to the start of the track when I started recording the video.
For the length of the track, or the distance from the start, subtract 1km from the distance shown.

Thredbo Mountain Bike Park: Thredbo Valley Trail
This is an impressive trail ride with a nice mix of terrain and highlights. A shared use trail takes riders down the picturesque Thredbo Valley across three amazing suspension bridges to the old Rangers Station. Meandering along the banks of the famous Thredbo River, riders can maintain flow undulating though open grasslands and thick eucalyptus. This section of the trail is perfect for the beginners with some climbing involved on the return trip back to Thredbo. Riders then cross the river from the Ranger Station on another impressive archway bridge. Here you will find the excitement starts to pick up in the forests and open woodlands with smooth descents and short uphill bursts littered with rollers to keep the flow going. Running parallel with the run of the Thredbo River, you continue onto Thredbo Diggings riverside campsites where riders can call it a day or if the energy is there, make you way to the well-maintained trails of Lake Crackenback Resort.

Elderly man rescued from Thredbo avalanche | Nine News Australia
An elderly man has been caught in an avalanche at Thredbo ski resort, just 24 hours after a father and his young daughter were rescued from deep powder nearby.
Nine News was on the scene as fire-fighters on snowmobiles raced to pull the injured walker to safety.
