Cannonball GT Rally - Liquid Leisure to Thruxton Race Circuit.
Monika of the Cheeky Girls got the first ever Cannonball GT Rally going by waving the guys and girls off from the start line at the Liquid Leisure Centre in Datchet.
Sunday 17 August see the very first Cannonball GT Rally take place from Liquid Leasure in Datchet to the famous Thruxton Race Circuit in Andover.
50 cars took part in the Rally and were waved off the line by Monika of the Cheeky Girls.
The event was the first of hopefully many to come and included cars of all sorts. Everythig from a Viper Engined Fire Truck to Nissan Skylines and Posches to Aston Martins and a Range Rover. Some of the worlds finest cars graced the rally inlcuding McClarens, a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Spyker C8 Spider and one of the quickest cars to ever be produced a Aero SSC.
Not only were there some fine cars in attendance but there were also celebrities too with Monika of the Cheeky Girls starting the Rally and Elo of the London Motor Museum making an appearance with some of his finest cars.

Out Takes / Cuts From Cp 343 - Clergy Conference, Archery And Vintage Car Auction (1961)
Cuts (rushes, out takes) for stories in Colour Pictorial - CP 343. The original stories are on Pathe Master tape *PM0149*.
01:24:29 to 01:34:54 cuts for story CLERGY CONFERENCE in CP 343. Mostly similar footage to the cut story. Several shots of vicars (most without dog-collars) arriving at the service. Some great shots of vicars finding their accommodation; one walks up a stairway to get to his chalet; rarely seen Butlin's chalet shots! Great M/S of the Bishop of Southwark strolling along in his robes and carrying his mitre; he walks past some Butlin's camp shops that you rarely see in these stories.
M/S of a dark-haired girl doing the chopsticks dance; several sporting vicars join in; nice shots of the crowd laughing and clapping, some in swimsuits sitting in deck chairs. Nice sequence shows two vicars clambering over a climbing frame with two young boys; one of the vicars appears to get stuck and is helped out by the other. A (presumably well-known) clergyman arrives at the camp to much applause and rides in the cab of the miniature train. Several more shots of the Bishops at the swimming pool. A few good general shots of the holiday camp. Excellent stuff - well worth a look.
01:27:18 to 01:27:38 stray sequence from MISSILE FIRING (CP 342); quite a good shot of the missile / rocket taking off, although the camera is unsteady and tracks unevenly.

On-board footage from the second part of the 45min Endurance Race for Round 10 of the PCGB Karting Championship from Thruxton kart track, next to the main motor racing circuit, about 5 miles West of Andover & easy to find off the M3 / A303. The track was very damp & slippery from overnight rain - and unfortunately I took a couple of big hits in the first corner - which dislodged my camera & mic cables slightly - leading to some break-up of pictures and sound during the race - particularly on tight left handers! About 10-15min into the race I found some lines where I could get the kart to work - and then was able to start doing some overtaking. I managed to work my way up to 7th - where a sizeable gap had developed to the leading karts - but I couldn't get enough out of mine to get in touch. RM ;-)

On-board footage from the Practice & Qualifying Session for Round 10 of the PCGB Karting Championship from Thruxton kart track, next to the main motor racing circuit, about 5 miles West of Andover & easy to find off the M3 / A303. The track was very damp & slippery from overnight rain - so the 10min session was tricky for getting used to the circuit and karts. After finding out how little grip there was at the first corner I decided to take it fairly easy and not bend myself or the kart before the race had even started - but others were soon exploring the grass banking - where there was even less grip than on the circuit!! RM ;-)
