A visit to the Thursford Steam Collection, North Norfolk
In August 2019, I visited The Thursford Collection, which is located between Fakenham and Holt in North Norfolk. My interest in visiting was to see the magnificent collection of steam powered traction engines and steam rollers but there is much more to Thursford than that. The Collection includes fairground carousels and organs, stationary engines, and a mighty Wurlitzer. An ‘olde worlde’ shopping village adds to the atmosphere. The ‘behind the scenes tour’ includes Santa’s Magical Journey.
At the end of the year, Thursford stage a Christmas Spectacular with singing, dancing, music and variety. For opening times and prices please see their website

Organist goes Crazy! The Worlds Fastest Organist
The fastest, craziest playing you will ever observe with this exceptionally energetic, entertaining, fingers flying take of The Old Pianna Rag, performed by Robert Wolfe on the Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ of the Thursford Collection, Norfolk, UK.
Robert Wolfe is recognised as being one of the world's leading interpreters of the theatre organ. Acclaimed for his sheer artistry, renowned for his musicality, he is undoubtedly one of the top British organists.
At the early age of sixteen, he became the youngest musician at that time to join the team of organists at the world-famous Tower Ballroom, Blackpool. After three years, in 1981, he was invited to inaugurate the Wurlitzer show at the Thursford Collection, near Fakenham in Norfolk.
This sight and sound spectacular has come to be known locally, nationally and internationally as The Thursford Experience. From early spring to late autumn, seven days a week, Robert draws large crowds who delight in his warm personality and his unique musical combination of meticulous precision and interpretative sensitivity.
Robert's music is often heard on BBC Radio 2 and he has been featured on Television. Highlights of these broadcasts include playing live for The National Lottery, with an audience of around 20 million people hearing the magnificent sounds of Robert at the Wurlitzer organ at Thursford.
