Tibet Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Tibet.
Tibet is a relatively little known and mysterious land of snow high up in the Himalayas that borders Nepal, Bhutan ad India. It is protected by the highest mountains in the world and is a region that has developed a unique society whose philosophy, art and religious faith have earned much interest and respect.Lhasa is the capital of Tibet and also its largest city. The Barkhor Road extends for eight hundred metres around the Jokhang Temple and nearby Tsuklakhang Square. For the faithful a visit to the Jokhang Temple is the highlight of a long and arduous pilgrimage and the Dalai Lama once sat in its inner courtyard during the monks’ annual final examination, which was also a splendid festive event. On the other side of the Chakpori, a small mountain opposite Potala, is the seldom visited Sang Gya Thong Ku Temple that is somewhat hidden away and therefore off the tourist trail. This ‘temple of a thousand images of god’ is nevertheless very popular among devout Buddhists and is a place of silent prayer. The Yarlung Valley is full of history such as possessing the oldest field in Tibet, as well as the oldest village that is located at the foot of the country’s oldest fortress, Yom Bu La Khang, the rock palace of the country’s first mystic king. One of the largest monuments in Tibetan architecture is the unique Kumbum Chörten, a three-dimensional mandala that can be entered. Eyes decorate the upper part of the Stupa. The ritual walkabout begins on the lowest level with simple deities then follows the entire Pantheon of Tibet, immortalised in both sculptures and wall paintings. Despite Chinese influence, Tibet is still a religiously devout country with a fascinating monastery culture and amazing natural scenery. Tashi Delek! Happiness and Blessings! On the “roof of the world” one is always close to the gods…!...

Volunteering for Tibetan refugees to teach Chinese at Lha
We began offering Chinese language classes at Lha in 2004. Due to a shortage of teachers for two years we could not offer these classes. Fortunately classes resumed in 2007 and have been progressing successfully since then. Currently we teach 35 to 40 students every month.
We have three different levels - Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels, each an hour-long class offered daily, Monday through Friday. We ask that Language Teachers at Lha commit to a minimum stay of two months, in order to ensure as much course continuity as possible for our students. Teachers have access to a variety of teaching aids and materials through the Lha Library located in the main office building on Temple Road. Language Teachers at Lha are responsible for taking daily attendance, lesson planning, creating and grading homework and periodic exams for their students, and notifying the Teacher Coordinator in a timely manner should they be unable to attend their scheduled class.
Most of our Chinese language students are Tibetan, and many have a strong will to go back to Tibet. These days there is a strong demand for Chinese language skills among Tibetans in Tibet, as it offers greater opportunities for employment and in communication. We recognize that the Chinese language is gaining in prominence globally; therefore many of our students regard it as important to know at least basic Chinese to communicate with the world.

Man travels 2,150 km by bicycle to Tibet
Meet Zhang Jian from Hubei Province who decided to bike the 2,150 kilometers from Chengdu to Lhasa, capital of Tibet. It took him 25 days in which he met many interesting experiences, but upon seeing the Potala Palace, he says, I welled up with tears.
Nepal, Upper Mustang is on an ancient trade route between Nepal and Tibet
Nepal, Upper Mustang is on an ancient trade route between Nepal and Tibet exploiting the lowest 4,660 metres (15,300 ft) pass Kora La through the Himalaya west of Sikkim. This route remained in use until China's annexation of Tibet in 1950.
Mechanized access inside Nepal began with the opening of an airstrip at Jomsom at the approximate boundary between the southern Thak and northern Lo sections of the valley, which was in operation by the 1960s.
China eventually decided to revitalize trade and in 2001 completed a 20 kilometres (12 mi) road from the international border to Lo Manthang.[3] Across the TAR border is Zhongba County of Shigatse Prefecture. China National Highway 219 follows the valley of the Yarlung Tsangpo River some 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of the border.
Meanwhile, road-building from the south was inhibited by difficulties along the Kali Gandaki Gorge to the south, but proceeded incrementally. In 2010, a 9 kilometres (6 mi) gap remained but the road was completed before 2015 and is suitable for high clearance and 4 WD vehicles. Currently, the easiest and only widely used road corridor, from Kathmandu to Lhasa—named Arniko Highway in Nepal and China National Highway 318 in the TAR—traverses a 5,125 metres (16,810 ft) pass. This is some 465 metres (1,530 ft) higher than Kora La.
Mustang was once an independent kingdom, although closely tied by language and culture to Tibet. From the 15th century to the 17th century, its strategic location granted Mustang control over the trade between the Himalayas and India. At the end of the 18th century the kingdom was annexed by Nepal and became a dependency of the Kingdom of Nepal since 1795
Though still recognized by many Mustang residents, the monarchy ceased to exist on October 7, 2008, by order of the Government of Nepal.[5] The last official and later unofficial king (raja or gyelpo) was Jigme Dorje Palbar Bista (1930–2016), who traced his lineage directly back to Ame Pal, the warrior who founded this Buddhist kingdom in 1380. Ame Pal oversaw the founding and building of much of the Lo and Mustang capital of Lo Manthang, a walled city surprisingly little changed in appearance from that time period.
In 2007, a shepherd in Mustang discovered a collection of 55 cave paintings depicting the life of the Buddha. Nepal, Upper Mustang is on an ancient trade route between Nepal and Tibet

Scam! Accesstibettour.com Tibettravel.com, Part 2a
Access Tibet Tour is a scam! Avoid accesstibettour.com a.k.a. tibettravel.com at all costs! They sold us a tour to Everest Base Camp, despite the fact that they knew with certainty that Base Camp was inaccessible during the dates of the trip.
We spent 4 days out of 5 touring days on a bus under the illusion that we would reach Base Camp, while the agency staff merrily deceived us! Furthermore, the management continued to lie to us through their teeth, claiming ignorance despite the fact that their guides and drivers had found the same site inaccessible the week before our tour commenced. Watch the video to witness a stream of lies. Read tripadvisor.com reviews and you will see that others have been tricked before too. Furthermore, they neglect to plan for major holiday closures, and cut corners at every opportunity. We were not the first to be cheated, but what a pity if you should be the next!
Access Tibet Tour is a scam! Save your money and travel with a reputable agency!!!
