The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) was founded by The 14th Dalai Lama at Dharamshala India in 1959. TIPA was established to preserve Tibetan artistic heritage especially Opera, Music and Dance. As part of this effort, the cultural festival of Yarkyi is observed every year to showcase the Tibetan cultural and theatrical art.

They were performing a dialogue using a sort of body language technique putting a strong enphasis in making a point in a conversation.. it almost looked like they were getting angry

Tibetan Children Village Dharamsala 56th Anniversary rehearsals
Some preparations of the celebration for the 56th anniversary of Upper TCV (Tibetan Children Village) in Mcleodganji, which is also called Little Lhasa, as the area is a concentration of Tibetan Refugees, hosting the H.H. Dalai Lama's residence, monasteries, temples, schools and other institutions of the Tibetan Community in exile. This video was made the day of our departure after one month's stay in this community, and I was lucky to document the students preparing the event (see also ).

Domay Lhabdrang Khordo is a beautiful folk dance from North eastern part of Tibet, from the region of Domay or Amdo Lhabdrang.
The dance was researched and performed by the artistes of Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Dharamsala during the Yarkyi 2011 Musical program.

TIPA, in Mcleodganj, is one of the oldest performing arts institute outside Tibet, where each individual, whether student or teacher, has a story to tell: a story of struggle, pathos, spirituality and hope… hope to keep Tibet alive.

Nidhi is a script writer and documentary filmmaker. She was awarded the Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarship to pursue Masters’ in Feature Film Screenwriting from the Royal Holloway, University of London, 2003-04. While at UK, she won the Raindance Film Pitch Competition at the Edinburgh Film Festival 2004. She co-wrote dialogues for Mansoor Khan’s Josh and Rohan Sippy’s Kuch Naa Kaho. Nidhi has directed and produced the much acclaimed documentary Ladies Special that won the John Abraham National Award in 2005 and the George Ragot love the Train Award at Cine Rail Paris in 2009. Other films directed by her include Art in Exile, TIPA, Of Friendship, Films and Swords and The Saint of Chitrakoot. Her television show Khata Rahe Mera Dil on Food Food was awarded as the Best Travel Show at the recently held Indian Telly Awards.
Ashraf Abbas is currently the head of Promos/films at CNBC TV-18. He was recently awarded a Promax Award for one of his films. He has extensive experience in advertising through his association with Lock Stock and Barrel films as an Executive Producer and Production Designer.
Rajiv Mehrotra is the Managing Trustee and Commissioning Editor of PSBT - his films have won more than 300 awards worldwide, including 32 in 31 years from the President of India. His nine books are available in 50 languages and editions.
PSBT is a not-for-profit that nurtures and supports the production of independent documentary films. Over two decades, it has produced some 700 documentary films. Each film averages two festival selections and every second film an award.
