Rafting the biggest tidal waves on earth - TIDAL BORE RAFTING!
With the worlds highest tide of over 50 feet, this bay acts as a massive funnel for more than 320 billion tons of seawater cycling through everyday. This results in a massive wave and huge rapids for half an hour when the tides roll in and out. Today I went rafting in them. This is the only place in the world where you can do this. Pretty incredible!
Thank you Tidal Bore Rafting Resort for having us and giving us this great adventure!

A four hour tour by Shubenacadie Tidal Bore Rafting Park on August 20, 2012. (26.9ft tide) Mud sliding, hit the bore, then the very watery ride upriver through the standing waves. We just can't seem to hold on and stay in the boat!
Tidal Bore Rafting in Nova Scotia
This girl's reaction to the cold waves was priceless!
Rafting on the Shubenacadie River is a BLAST! Truly a must-do activity in Nova Scotia, Canada!
We went before the season officially opened, which is when the water is still really cold! (8 degrees Celcius cold!).
It was SO MUCH FUN but we love this video because of the girl on the left! She had a great time as well but I don't think she was expecting the water to hit so hard and to be so cold.
Good Times!

Tidal Bore Rafting Adventure in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia
The Tidal Bore Rafting Resort in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia offers one of the most unique adventures in the world. This is the only place on earth where you can go rafting on a tidal bore. A tidal bore is when ocean levels rise at the beginning of high tide and the tide is so big that it rushes back up rivers and essentially changes the rivers current pushing everything back up stream. When the two currents meet they create a crazy amount of rapids and waves that can be up to 12 feet tall. The tidal bore only lasts about an hour and is a crazy experience as you go rafting through these huge waves. Nova Scotia is the perfect location for it on the Shubenacadie river where it meets the Bay of Fundy home of the largest tides of the world.
At the Shubenacadie Tidal Bore Rafting Resort on certain dates they offer a unique experience called The Fundy Tides & Fireside Adventure. This excursion includes tidal more rafting, a lobster boil and big feast of a dinner, fireside drinks, live music and marshamallows as well as an over night stay in one of their cottages.
