SUMMARY
=======
Duncan & Miller Glass Company was a well-known glass manufacturing company in Washington, Pennsylvania. Items that were produced by the company are known as Duncan glass or Duncan Miller glass. The company was founded in 1865 by George Duncan with his two sons and son-in-law in the South Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. By 1890, the company joined other glass companies to form the United States Glass Company, a powerful glass trust. In 1892, the factory was destroyed in a fire, and the company was relieved of its trust relationship with the US Glass Company. After the fire, the second generation of the Duncan family moved operations to Washington, Pennsylvania. In 1900, John Ernest Miller, the company's long-time designer, became a full shareholder along with members of the Duncan family. By 1955, economic pressures from machine-produced glass forced the company to sell off its assets to the US Glass Company, who continued to produce Duncan-style glass until 1980.

SUMMARY
=======
The Sneath Glass Company was an American manufacturer of glass and glassware. After a brief 1890s startup in Tiffin, Ohio, the Company moved to Hartford City, Indiana, to take advantage of the Indiana Gas Boom. The small city was enjoying the benefits of the Indiana Gas Boom, and could provide natural gas as an energy source for manufacturers. Sneath Glass was one of many glass manufacturers that moved to the region, and became Hartford City’s second largest employer.Among the original owners, Ohio businessman Ralph Davis Sneath provided capital and financial knowledge—and his family is the company’s namesake. Sneath was president of the firm when it moved to Indiana. Henry Crimmel, who already had over 25 years of glassmaking experience when he joined the company, provided the manufacturing expertise after the firm's reorganization. Following the reorganization, Alva Clyde Crimmel (Henry’s son) was the firm's secretary, while John W. Geiger served as treasurer. These four members of the management team were the company’s owners when it moved to Indiana.In Indiana, the company’s main products were initially lantern globes and founts (which held the lantern’s fuel), and railroads were its major customers. As demand for lanterns declined during the beginning of the 20th century, Sneath evolved to be a maker of glassware for portable kitchen cabinets, such as those made by Sellers and the Hoosier Manufacturing Company. Eventually, portable kitchen cabinets lost their popularity after new houses began utilizing built-in cabinetry. Sneath transitioned to be a maker of a new group of wares—glass products for refrigerators. While lanterns, kitchenware, and refrigerator products were the major goods manufactured by the company during its existence, it also made a wide variety of additional merchandise. Aquariums, lenses, and mailboxes were also among the glass products made by the company. Sneath was also an early manufacturer of heat-proof glass.After World War II, Sneath’s major products began to become obsolete because of the plastics industry. Unlike earlier in the century, the company did not transition to a new major product when demand for its portfolio of manufactured goods subsided. Management did not adapt to competition from the plastics industry, faced a shrinking market for its goods, and could not raise prices due to post-war government price controls. The factory closed in 1952 after a work stoppage led by the local labor unions.

Community Saves Holiday Postmark Tradition - Aircheck
Community saves holiday postmark tradition in Rudolph
Christine Long Reports
Every year thousands of people around the world send their Christmas cards to a tiny town in Wood County for a special reindeer postmark.
Although it was in jeopardy this year because of budget cuts, the tradition continues thanks to help from the community.
This is always the most wonderful time of the year in the Village of Rudolph, just take a look at the sign as you drive into town. It reads, Welcome to Rudolph, the Deerest Little Village in Wood County.
This year is extra special, though.
On the corner of Rudolph and Mermill sits quite possibly the most famous post office of all.
Every year roughly 80,000 pieces of mail from all over the world come through the Rudolph Post Office in the month of December for the special reindeer station postmark.
I can't afford to get to the North Pole so this is the next best choice, says Colin Baird who drive 15 miles from Van Buren for the holiday postmark.
Linda Arno of Grand Rapids drove in to get the special cancellation on her 70 Christmas cards. It's a trip she's made for 22 years.
Everybody likes to see the little sticker saying it's coming from Rudolph. I think it's neat, says Arno.
Betty Quickle and her husband are from Tiffin. They're sending a special letter as a surprise to their seven year old granddaughter.
We both feel like little elves, says Quickle.
It's a tradition, says Charlotte Lamb, the postmaster in Rudolph.
Lamb says it's a tradition that almost died this year.
The US Postal Service kept the tiny post office open in the middle of big budget cuts. However, leaders cut it down to one office employee and one carrier.
After that, Lamb said the reindeer station postmark which has changed style every year had to end.
Because I was the only one here that did the stamping, says Lamb. I mean, the carrier helps, yes. But I couldn't run the window and do the stamping at the same time, there's just no way.
The US Postal Service did something special, though. It gave Lamb the OK to bring in volunteers during December.
People in the community stepped up with glee, including the postmaster's grandson.
I know she needs a lot of help out here with all the mail that comes through, says David Lamb.
Mark Reddin, a judge in Bowling Green, believes the thought of losing the reindeer postmark is abominable.
It's a tradition that's been going on since I moved out here about 28 years ago and I didn't want to see that tradition die, says Reddin.
It is awesome. the community rallied behind our post office is what they did, says Charlotte Lamb.

SUMMARY
=======
A lunch box, spelled lunchbox in almost all UK and US dictionaries, also referred to as a lunch pail or lunch kit, is used to store food to be taken anywhere. The concept of a food container has existed for a long time, but it was not until people began using tobacco tins to carry meals in the early 20th century, followed by the use of lithographed images on metal, that the containers became a staple of youth, and a marketable product.
The lunch box has most often been used by schoolchildren to take packed lunches, or a snack, from home to school. The most common modern form is a small case with a clasp and handle, often printed with a colorful image that can either be generic or based on children's television shows or films. Use of lithographed metal to produce lunch boxes in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s gave way in the 1990s to use of injection-molded plastic.
A lunch kit comprises the actual box and a matching vacuum bottle. However, pop culture has more often embraced the singular term lunch box, which is now most commonly used.
Official 9/11 Memorial Museum Tribute In Time-Lapse 2004-2014
A letter from the CEO & Founder of EarthCam:
It's been a heroic undertaking to rebuild downtown New York City after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Within days of this national tragedy, I personally installed a camera to webcast the rescue and recovery for the families, and the world, to see the brave determination of first responders. As the recovery effort continued, we installed more cameras to document the rebuilding and construction of the site. This commemorative time-lapse honors the victims of 9/11 and is dedicated to their families and friends, with special gratitude to the first responders and the steadfast construction teams.
A super hardworking team at EarthCam, who I am so proud to work with, spent countless hours keeping the many webcams at the World Trade Center active for 4,617 days (and counting). This unprecedented effort provided our in-house editors with over 1 million images to choose from when creating this two-and-a-half minute video, as well as our other commemorative World Trade Center movies.
We at EarthCam are committed to continuing this photographic documentation to educate future generations and have donated all the images as well as the original camera to the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
I hope this time-lapse serves as a way to recognize that for the 10 years of construction, there was constant progress made to rebuild these important 16 acres of America.
Sincerely,
Brian Cury
