Taipei Travel - Four Beasts Mountain Elephant Mountain Hiking Tour in Taiwan vlog - 47 part 1
If you're planning on traveling to Taipei and looking for things to do in Taipei, this video may be perfect for you if you want to go sightseeing in Taiwan. Today I'll be hiking Four Beasts Mountain in Taipei and it'll be my first time hiking a mountain. Four Beasts Mountain consist of Elephant Mountain, Tiger Mountain, Lion Mountain, and Leopard Mountain. Each mountain has its own unique characteristics associated to the beast it represents and has its own hiking paths. Hiking Four Beasts Mountain can give you some of the best views of Taipei and these views are amazing.
Before you go to Four Beast Mountain I recommend that you stock up on some food and water at a store. Depending on how long you hike for some of the trails can take up to 4 hours, so most likely you'll either be here for half a day and you'll probably be hungry at some point throughout the day. I highly recommend that you have some comfortable hiking shoes because the trails can be very steep, some of stones can be loose so you may lose your footing so you need to be careful. Pack light and pack what you need before you go on this hike.
Check out the link below for the map of Four Beast Mountain and some of the main hiking paths. I did not create map, one of my friends sent this to me and the owner of the map has allowed this to be shared. If you can't do super steep steps, maybe you might want to skip out on the blue and green trails and go to Tiger Mountain which I've read is less steep and easier.
Four Beast Mountain - Main Hiking Paths
In order to get to this area, you can easily take public transportation like the train or buses. Most people will go to Elephant Mountain and take the blue trail (Xiangshan Trail)on the map, because the hike here is not as long and also it gives you a pretty amazing view of Taipei 101 and the city. If you're from the midwest like I am or from a place that has no hills, this hike up Elephant Mountain will be incredibly difficult. I don't hike often, however I'm somewhat fit I guess haha and was exhausted hiking up the steps there. The steps are very steep here, however there are frequent places to rest along the Elephant Mountain hiking trail. You can probably go up and down the blue elephant trail in about 2 hours.
If you want to the highest view in the Four Beast Mountain, you can take the Blue Elephant Mountain hiking trail and follow the green trail which leads you to 9-5 Peak. The stairs on the green 9-5 peak trail is not as steep and frequent as the blue Elephant Mountain trail, however this one is quite difficult as well since the hike is very long. Starting from where the Blue Elephant Mountain trail meets the Green 9-5 Peak Trail to the top took me about 1-2 hours to get to the peak. So it's quite a bit of a long hiking trail and can be quite exhausting especially if you don't hike or like to climb stairs. However if you attempt the hike and once you get to 9-5 peak the view is very rewarding! Once you're at the peak you can either continue the green 9-5 peak trail and exit the other side, or you can turn around and head back towards blue Elephant mountain trail. I recommend that you do the latter because if you time it properly you can catch the sunset and the night view of the city at Elephant Mountain.
There are numerous paths here and trails that are not marked on this map, however I think as a first time tourist like myself, going to Elephant Mountain is a must go and going on the 9-5 Peak Trail would be more optional. The 9-5 Peak Trail is awesome, however if you don't have enough time I would say just hike the Elephant Mountain trail. I recommend that you come here around noon order to give yourself enough time to complete the trails and see the Elephant Mountain sunset. You'll probably be exhausted attempting this, but it was definitely worth it! Some other things to keep in mind, when I went here it was cloudy so it wasn't hot, but I can imagine it being extremely hot if the sun was out and also oddly enough I didn't really see any bugs here for some reason. It may have been two cold temperature wise and all the bugs could be hiding, so maybe bring some insect repellent just in case.

The mountains are located to the east of Taipei City in Taiwan. They're named after four animals that they supposedly resemble: Tiger Mountain (虎山), Elephant Mountain (象山), Leopard Mountain (豹山) and Lion Mountain (獅山).
A trip to Tiger Mountain is relatively less demanding. A hike to Tiger Mountain takes less than half an hour. In addition, visitors can find parking spaces at Cihui Temple, which is quite convenient to people who drive. At the entrance of the trail, sometimes there are vendors selling beverages and groceries. During the hike, you can see qigong masters massaging passing travelers under a canopy. Stairs on the route are in proper maintenance, so you won't feel particularly tired while hiking slowly. After reaching the peak at an altitude of less than 140 meters, you can observe the tall buildings standing in the Xinyi District. If the weather is nice, you can also see the distant Linkou Plateau.

Elephant Mountain Hiking Trail view of the Taiwan's Taipei City and Taipei 101
On clear days, the view from Elephant Mountain offers stunning views of Taipei City and the Taipei 101 building. Come up in the evening and the lights will blow you away. It is no wonder it's such a popular place for photographers.
For the best view of Taipei City, make a hike to the top of Elephant Mountain!
Also known as the Nangang District Hiking Trail and Xiangshan (象山), the hiking trail is located close to the Xinyi Shopping District and Taipei 101.
The best time to hike the mountain is during late afternoon, this way you can catch the sunset as well as a daytime view and stunning nighttime view of the city, however the trail can get relatively crowded during the weekend.
The hike takes a total of around 15-20 minutes to the top, and includes lots of stairs! Remember to take a left at the fork in the path. After around 8-10 minutes, there will be a landing area with facilities and restrooms where the path branches off in multiple directions.
From Taipei 101:
From the base of Taipei 101, walk east on Xinyi Road (信義路) for two blocks until you reach MRT Xiangshan Station, only a 15 minute walk from 101 and completely worth it. To get there faster, take a YouBike from the station across the street from 101 (MRT Exit 2), then return the bike at the park nearby the trail entrance.
After arriving at Xiangshan station (象山), the terminus of Red Line 2, leave from Exit 2 and continue walking alongside the edge of the park. At the end of this road, take a left and follow until the entrance for Xiangshan Hiking Trail (象山登山步道), total 650 metres, around 20 mins.

Visit the First Cat Cafè Opened in the World in #Taipei #Taiwan ????????????
The first cat café was opened in Taipei, Taiwan in 1998.
The Taiwanese cat café eventually became a tourist destination, attracting tourists from Japan as well as all over the globe. Though the origin of cat café is in Taiwan, the concept blossomed in Japan, where the first one named Neko no Jikan (lit. Cat's Time) was opened in Osaka in 2004. Due to the Japan's land size and population, many residents live in small apartments or condominiums which do not allow pets, making a cat café a very popular destination for young workers looking for the companionship and comfort offered. Tokyo's first cat café, named Neko no mise (Shop of Cats), opened in 2005. After this, the popularity of cat cafés boomed in Japan. From 2005 to 2010, seventy-nine cat cafés opened across the country.

My first solo trip to Taiwan!
This is my first time travelling alone to Taiwan and it is also my first video of me travelling around the world!
I've read somewhere that every girl should try travelling alone some time. Although it is not a planned solo trip, but I managed to travel by myself for a week in Taiwan!
Guess what, sometimes, you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and sometimes, in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself. I found myself, I found freedom, I found joy. It is not as scary as it seems. ;D
My Itinerary:
Day 1 28th Dec 2015 : Malaysia – Taoyuan - Taipei Ximending One plus One hotel - Shilin Night market
Day 2 29th Dec 2015: Ximending - Cafe Hopping around Xinyi District such as Hello Kitty Cafe, Rilakkuma cafe, Dazzling cafe Pink - Shida Night Market
Day 3 30th Dec 2015: Ximending - National Museum 台北故宫 - Tamshui Old Street
It is a brief video about my trip, if you want to know more about the transportation, exact location and route to the destination, do PM me! =D
Oh Thank you for watching and stay tuned to Part 2 as well!

Where to eat in Taipei. Taipei food tour feast.
Our last full day in Taiwan and we did and ate as much as we could! After a “nap” that turned into a full night of sleep the day before, we were on a mission. Our mission was to eat everything we wanted, but didn’t get a chance to try yet.
First, we ate at the original location of the famous Din Tai Fung. Then, we ate at a few spots on Yongkang Street before heading to Gongguan.

After all of this eating, we headed to the northern coast. Here, we explored Yehliu Geopark, including Queen’s Head.
We ended our trip with a hike up Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan) to see the amazing views of the city. From here, the Taipei 101 stands out among the skyline.

ABOUT FOOD AND FOOTPRINTS:
We are Greg and Jumi, hailing from opposite ends of the globe. Greg is a native New Yorker who was born and raised in Queens NYC and Jumi grew up in the beautiful islands of the Visayas region of the Philippines.
How did we meet? One of us messaged the other on Instagram (before sliding in DM's was even possible through the app!) and we met just after Hurricane Sandy hit NYC in October 2012. Although we grew up in two very different worlds, we bonded over a love of experiences over material things, delicious food and exploration.
We have visited 15+ countries together since December 2014 exploring beaches, ancient temples, bustling streets and ruins. Along the way, we get adrenaline flowing whether paragliding, ziplining, or jetskiing.
To fuel up for our adventures (and everyday life), we eat lots of local food wherever we are. Street food, carts, trucks, hidden gems and family-run sit-downs are our mainstays. We don't cook, but prefer to spend our money on experiences and we treat food as one. Hey, we gotta eat regardless, right? May as well enjoy it and support good businesses while we're at it!
All of this is done while we work full-time at our day jobs. How do we do it? Follow along our journeys and you will learn more. Welcome to our lifestyle!

Taiwan - The Heart Of Asia Timelapse
Taiwan – The Heart Of Asia is my best work. After 5 timelapse from different cities around the world, I try to catch one country in a movie. I explore Taiwan over 3 weeks in November 2017 and stay in 4 big cities (Taipei, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung), switch 9 times my hotel, create 99 timelapse with over 21000 images, 137GB in around 24 hours recording time.
After several hours video editing I present my masterpiece.
Taiwan himself is a great place to travel. Not so common for western tourist, but well developed for individual tourist, pretty cheap, super save, clean and with fantastic food, landscapes and people.
