Tigers of Pench National Park, M.P., India
Safari on 3rd January, 2015 at Pench National Park in Madhya Pradesh was my 10th Jungle Safari in last 12 years. But it was altogether a different experience, as for the first time I was face to face with the ever elusive Royal Tigers. Any adjective will fall short of describing the glossy, elegant & majestic three young male tiger siblings who were in front of my eyes for at least 15 minutes. Here are some memorable moments with the Royal Tigers, captured in my video camcorder.

Taraniya Forest Lodge and Resort
THE LOCATION OF THE PROJECT:
Taranya is a small hamlet, nestled in the midst of dense forest on the banks of a perennial river Kanad. It is about 70 Kms from Indore with 40 kms of pucca road Indore -- Khandwa road and 30 Km of all-weather forest road. Currently work is under progress for pucca tar road being built up to the site under PM's Rural Road Scheme.
Taranya village falls in Mehendikheda tribal Panchayat consisting of 3 villages viz: (1) Mehendikheda (2) Kundi (3) Taranya, all dominated by tribals like Bheels and Bhilalas.
Taranya has a population of only 300 of which majority is of Bheels. Total cultivable land in the whole village is hardly 70 acres, which contains land holdings of 2 to 4 acres per family, which are unable to provide them sustainable livelihood.
This village has abundant natural beauty which remains untapped yet as a tourist destination. The crystal clear waters of river Kanad flows throughout the year & meets river Narmada about 12-14 Kms downstream. The place is full of wild life and is a paradise for ornithologists (Bird watchers) and herb healers. It is soon going to adjoin The Omkareshwar National Park under development by the state. Boating expeditions in the backwaters of Omkareshwar dam. Possibilities of white-water rafting from Tincha fall up to Taranya to be explored with the help of experts. Two to three large caves downstream, big enough to be converted into temporary bedrooms for night stays for a unique and adventurous experience.
THEME OF THE PROJECT:
Indore city has a trend of spending weekends out of homes. At present people do so by going to nearby locations, hotel, and picnic spots. Etc. which are located solely on the main roads and highways, hence are easily accessible. This is so because places in the interior villages are not connected by good motor-able road, so are hard to reach, hence remain unknown to city dwellers. Although such places have natural beauty in abundance and are rich in flora and fauna but they are lacking in minimum luxury/ facilities and basic amenities.
Younger generation, which is at the high end of the income criterion and is increasing in numbers, is also on the lookout for newer adventurous locations, hitherto unknown but which provide basic infrastructure for comfortable overnight stays with safety. Our idea is to develop this site to suit the need/desires/demands of these visitors and also to help/guide the local population to benefit out of this activity.
This project also envisages bridging the ever widening gap between India and Bharat. As the people born and brought up in the cities & urban areas do not have an inkling of how villages are surviving and facing hardships in their day to day lives. So one of the main intentions of this project is to bring the people closer and bring about general awareness of rural plight and problems.
This project will promote indigenous tourism with wild life safaris, camping, fishing rafting, rappelling, trekking and other adventure sports.
This will be an eco-friendly project making full use of solar power, biogas, zero-head hydro power generation, etc. without taxing the environment.
This initiative will promote community level efforts to address issue of rural poverty and ignorance by interaction of the visitors with villagers, with rural poor being the target beneficiaries.
It will create sustainable livelihood opportunities among the rural poor, which their small land holdings with large families cannot provide. The project shall generate employment to young men as cooks, guides, waiters, gardeners nearer to their homes and generate employment.
The design of rooms will be Nimadi village style and the food shall provide local flavours. Since water is in abundance, landscaping could be undertaken on a massive scale without any hinderance as to their irrigation.
Thus this innovative project will be a boon for the village and it's surrounding areas as well. It would also provide employment for locals and ready market for their products.
Also, a clear title land (5 beegha) is available for purchase for anyone interested. The title is absolutely clear and it is the only land in the buffer zone of Omkareshwar National Park (later to be included in core). All else are tribal lands which no one can legally purchase according to law.

Bandhavgarh tiger reserve and National park forest, Madhya Pradesh
Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the popular national parks in India located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. Set among the Vindhya hills of Madhya Pradesh with an area of 168sq miles (437sq kms) it contains a wide variety of habitats and a high density of game, including a large number of Tigers. This is also the White tiger country. These have been found in the old state of Rewa for many years. The last known was captured by Maharaja Martand Singh in 1951. This white Tiger, Mohun is now stuffed and on display in the Palace of Maharaja of Rewa. Bandhavgarh was declared a national park in 1968, spread over the forest divisions of Umaria and Katni.
The park derives its name from the most prominent hillock of the area, which is said to be given by Hindu Lord Rama to his brother Lakshmana to keep a watch on Lanka (Ceylon). Hence the name Bandhavgarh. This park has a large biodiversity. The density of the tiger population at Bandhavgarh is one of the highest known in India. The park has a large breeding population of Leopards, and various species of deer. Maharaja Martand Singh of Rewa captured the first white tiger in this region in 1951. This white tiger, Mohan, is now stuffed and on display in the palace of the Maharajas of Rewa. Prior to becoming a National Park, the forests around Bandhavgarh had long been maintained as a Shikargarh, or game preserve of the Maharaja of Rewa. The Maharaja and his guests carried out hunting - otherwise the wildlife was well protected. It was considered a good omen for Maharaja of Rewa to shoot 109 tigers. His Highness Maharaja Venkat Raman Singh shot 111 Tigers by 1914.
There are 32 hills in this part of the park, which has a large natural fort at its center. The fort's cliffs are 2625 feet (800 meters) high, 1000 feet (300 meters) above the surrounding countryside. The four main zones of the national park are Tala, Magdhi, Khitauli and Panpatta. Tala is the richest zone in terms of biodiversity, mainly tigers. Together, these four ranges comprise the 'Core' of the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. The vegetation is chiefly of Sal forest in the valleys and on the lower slopes, gradually changing to mixed deciduous forest on the hills and in the hotter drier areas of the park in the south and west. Winter temperatures (Nov-mid-February) vary from almost freezing at night to around 68 degree Fahrenheit in the daytime. Summer nights are also cooler than the daytime temperature, which rises to 104 degree Fahrenheit. This park is closed during the breeding season, which coincides with the monsoon (July-October). Rainfall in the park averages 50 inches (120cm) per year.
Bandhavgarh offers excellent game and bird viewing and a historical interest too which most other parks lack. There are several good weather roads in the park. Jeeps are definitely recommended over other vehicles and can be hired from the Tiger's Den resort. A forest guide must accompany all visitors into the park. Entry in to the park is allowed only during daylight hours. For both elephants and jeep rides the hour immediately after dawn and before sunset are best.

Kanha National Park is very special for me, because it was the first park i have visited at the age of 10 and i fell in love with the nature and animals. we spent 3 days there and i still remember each and every min of it.
Kanha National Park, is one of the tiger reserves of India and the largest national park of Madhya Pradesh. Kanha National Park was created on 1 June 1955 and in 1973 was made the Kanha Tiger Reserve. Today it stretches over an area of 940 km square in the two districts Mandla and Balaghat. Its 161 Kilometer from Jabalpur City.
Together with the surrounding buffer zone of 1,067 km square and the neighboring 110 km square Phen Sanctuary it forms the Kanha Tiger Reserve. This makes it the largest National Park in Central India.
The park has a significant population of Bengal tiger, Indian leopards, the sloth bear, Indian wild dog and Barasingha. There were around 300-350 Barasingha in 1988 and in the recent survey of 2016,the number of Barasingha has increased to 750 approx. in Kanha.
