MOTOLAO DIARIES I Ho Chi Minh Trail Story Laos
Mr. Lung Ky from Ban Nong Bua, located at the Ho Chi Minh Trail in the Khammouane province of central Laos shares his personal story during the secret war. His village lived and survived for almost 9 years in a nearby cave, hiding from bombings of the Vietnam war.
From 1964 to 1973, the US dropped more than two million tons of ordnance on Laos during 580,000 bombing missions - equal to a planeload of bombs every 8 minutes, 24-hours a day, for 9 years - making Laos the most heavily bombed country per capita in history. The bombings were part of the U.S. Secret War in Laos to support the Royal Lao Government against the Pathet Lao and to interdict traffic along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The bombings destroyed many villages and displaced hundreds of thousands of Lao civilians during the nine-year period.

Tiger Trail 2018
In the morning of 15 Aug, 3rd Singapore Division (3 Div) conducted their signature Tiger Trail Challenge, which saw participants compete in a 16km run through SAFTI Training Area. Being the Division's signature event, the challenge aims to promote fitness culture among the members of the Tiger family. It also served as a good opportunity to train and build up their endurance for the upcoming Army Half Marathon 2018. Brigadier-General Alfred Fox, Commander 3 Div, was present to flag off and participate in the challenge.
After a gruelling morning of running and climbing slopes, 2nd Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (2 SIR) emerged victorious as the team champion of Tiger Trail Challenge 2018!

The lazy Mekong River is a sleepy, undeveloped river waiting to be explored. The Mekong is Southeast Asia's longest river and is perfect for leaving your busy life behind to immerse yourself in the beautiful and exotic riverscape. On this mythical journey you will hear many legends about the river, which is hollowed out of massive limestone cliffs along both sides of its river; we make a stop at Pakou to engulf ourselves at the fascinating gilded Buddha cave on bank of Mekong River.
Tiger Trail Team Training
Here’s a recap of our 2-day community-based tour guide training program for our staff working here in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage town in Northern Laos.
--
Tiger Trail Travel is excited to announce the completion of another exciting 40+ person training course for our local tour guides. Our staff enjoyed a 2-day course on customer experience management with integrated principles of community-based tourism.
Through role play and group exercises, our guides worked on their communication and presentation skills, improving their ability to act as an active link between village communities and the tourists who come to visit them here in Laos.
We also built upon our Fair Trek initiative, adding an ambassador team whose purpose includes further outreach and training to communities not yet under the umbrella of Fair Trek. This was in addition to improving upon our guide services for the student travel and eco-construction programs of our Fair Trek brand which continue to enjoy rapid growth and interest by tourists looking to travel responsibly through the country.

Journey into the Heart of Luang Prabang, Laos.
Spending two weeks in the rainy season of Laos, I was able to volunteer to teach English to the locals and the novice monks of Luang Prabang.
Here is what I was able to see.
The video doesn't even begin to cover the scope of my experience there, but it's a start. If you find yourself with enough time to give to others, go out in the world and volunteer.
You won't regret.
This video is dedicated to my fellow volunteers and my students.
