A short hop, skip and a jump from Melbourne's CBD, Yarra Bend's parklands encompass scenic, riverside landscapes as the Yarra River snakes its way through Melbourne's green wedge.
Highlights include the Collingwood Children's Farm, views from the Yarra Boulevard of the city skyline, Studley Park and Fairfield Boathouse, Dights Falls, various historical beacons and the Yarra Bend bat colony.

Steps on Main Yarra Trail at Abbotsford
The steps on the Main Yarra Trail at Abbotsford continue to be a headache for pedestrians and cyclists (particularly those heading toward the city). It would be good if government allowed cyclists and others to donate funds to speeding up the project to replace these stairs with an alternate ramp or nearby bridge. That said though, I'd want to be confident that the funds would be used to replace the steps and that this would be done efficiently (not at a cost of X million dollars). Or better still, how about diverting the funds used by local government to replace concrete gutters at roadsides (with new concrete gutters) to this project instead?
Pipe Bridge,Fairfield - Main Yarra Trail
Filmed Good Friday April 6 2012. This was a 3 km return hike starting at the Wurundjeri Lookout, Yarra Boulevard, down the Main Yarra Trail to the Bridge, then to the Boathouse. My visit included exploration of some of the bush tracks next to the river. Excellent views from the Lookout!

Highlights of Race #05: Yarra Bend Park - The Trail Running Series presented by The North Face 2018
The Trail Running Series presented by The North Face headed to the exciting location of Yarra Bend, just north of Melbourne for race number 5.
The 5th race at Yarra Bend is the final race of the 2018 Trail Running Series presented by The North Face and what better way to celebrate the end of the Series than with a massive party at the finish line! The 5th race of the series will be conducted at night, after sunset with all runners carrying a (head) torch to light up the trail.
This unique trail running event was the first of its kind in Australia in 2016 with the entire race being held after dark – making it an incredible race experience for everyone. The courses will be the exact same as those used in race 1 from previous years giving you some familiarity but you will be amazed at just how different they feel when you’re vision is restricted to the cone of light emanating from the front of your torch.
We’re sure you’ll find it to be a great experience and a suitable finale to another great series.

20120521-missing-link.MOV
This video shows the missing 900m of concrete path where the Dandenong Creek trail ends before meeting up with the Eastlink trail. This section is very busy, every time I have ridden this small section there is always at least someone else walking. Lots of dog walkers. As you will see in the footage there is lots of puddles and loose gravel making is unsafe for both pedestrians and cyclists.
