The Tip Of Borneo - Best Beach In Sabah

Today we will be taking you to the tip of borneo and showing you the best beach in sabah kalampunian beach.

Kudat is around 4 hours drive north of kota kinabalu along the coast. The tip of borneo sits in the sulu sea directly across from palawan in the philippines.

The tip of borneo is a very popular destination because who wouldnt want to stand on the corner of the country right overlooking the ocean. There are good photo oppotunities all over this area.

Right next to the tip of borneo you will see kalampunian beach which is a spot of paradise and probably the best beach in sabah. The sand is pristine with no stones and the water is refreshingly cold with the beach pretty quiet and empty. Not many tourists visit this part of sabah and that helps make this place even more special.

Along the beach is lots of places to eat and drink and get out of the sun, there are even accomodations all along the beach and upto the tip of borneo which would be the best places to stay

Tanjung Simpang Mengayau (The Tip Of Borneo), Kudat, Sabah, Malaysia

Tanjung Simpang Mengayau or Tanjung Simpang Mangazou, also known as Tip of Borneo in English is the northernmost tip of Borneo located in the district of Kudat, in the state of Sabah, Malaysia. The tip marks the meeting point of the South China Sea and the Sulu Sea.

The original name of Tanjung Sampang Mangazou comes from the language of the Rungus, an ethnic group which resides mainly in the district of Kudat. The words Tanjung (cape), Sampang (union) and Mangazou (battle) refers to this location of a battle that occurred when the ethnic Rungus defended their territory against the attack from Moro Pirates. According to legend, this place was a favorite landing point for the pirates. While the Chinese people call this place as Den Foh Liew, which in Hakka means lighthouse due to a lighthouse on an island of Pulau Kalampunian can be seen from here.

During the famous circumnavigation era, Ferdinand Magellan fleet supposedly went here to perform repairs on his ships.

This tip has been developed as a tourist attraction. It is located in a park-like grounds and features a square with a Malaysian flagpole, a large bronze globe also located here. The bronze globe marks the location of Tanjung Simpang Mengayau at latitude 7 degrees north and longitude 116 degrees east with a map featuring the island of Borneo is embossed in bronze and laid on a flat surface at an angle with inscriptions to mark the Tip of Borneo.

Northern TIP OF BORNEO! Sabah, Malaysia (WeWillNomad)

From Kota Kinabalu, we took a (very bumpy) 3-hour ride to Kudat and made our way to the tip of Borneo! We were based at Tapad Do Aman's Jungle Campe for 3 weeks where we did some volunteer work. The routine made for an interesting break from our travels and we quickly fell into a comfortable rhythm. We usually were on duty from 8:00 to 10:30 each morning and again from 18:00 to 21:00 with the rest of the day to spend as we please. Most days felt very short and after catching up on some admin we headed to the beach nearby until sunset. We sadly ended up not filming much during this time but managed to catch a few key moments on one day we had off.

Simpang Mengayau means ‘lingering junction’ as it is here that the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu Seas flowing from the east.

Tanjung Simpang Mengayau atau Tanjung Simpang Mangazou, juga dikenali sebagai Tip of Borneo dalam Bahasa Inggeris adalah bahagian paling utara Borneo yang terletak di daerah Kudat, di negeri Sabah, Malaysia. Merupakan titik pertemuan Laut China Selatan dan Laut Sulu.

Tanjung ini telah dibangunkan sebagai tarikan pelancong. Sebuah taman berbentuk persegi telah dibina dengan meletakkan tiang bendera Malaysia dan glob gangsa besar. Glob gangsa menandakan lokasi Tanjung Simpang Mengayau di latitud 7 darjah utara dan longitud 116 darjah timur dengan peta yang memaparkan pulau Borneo adalah timbul dan diletakkan di atas permukaan yang rata pada sudut dengan tulisan untuk menandakan Peta Borneo. Tanjung Sampang Mengayau juga menghidangkan panorama yang indah ketika matahari mula naik dan matahari tenggelam kepada pelancong.

Nama asal Tanjung Sampang Mangazou berasal dari bahasa kaum Rungus, sebuah kumpulan etnik yang tinggal terutamanya di daerah Kudat. Tanjung (tanjung), Sampang (kesatuan) dan Mangazou (pertempuran) perkataan merujuk kepada lokasi ini pertempuran berlaku apabila Rungus etnik mempertahankan wilayah mereka terhadap serangan dari lanun. Menurut legenda, tempat ini adalah dijadikan kawasan pendaratan bagi lanun.

Tip of Borneo is located at the northern part of the Borneo, in Sabah. It takes approximately 4 hours journey from the capital of Sabah, Kota Kinabalu to reach the destination.

The weather was windy at the time I reached there and didn't make it to see the sunset. Since I stayed a night at Kudat, so I had my second chance to return there in the next morning.
