The Multimedia, Interactive ,Celebration of the Suir exhibition,created by Des Dillon from an idea by Shay Hurley and involving artists Ronnie Fitzgerald,Michael Walsh,Viv Chaloner,Lynda Phelan and Pat Holland, Curator of the County Museum,Clonmel,was the inaugural exhibition of the new County Museum,September 14th to November 14th,2000.
Since then it has shown both in Waterford at the Granary and in the Excel Centre in Tipperary Town.While at the Excel contact was made with all the schools in the town and in the countryside nearby to acquaint them with the exhibition and to offer visits,outreach and field trips during the six week run.There was a massive take-up on all fronts from Primary,Secondary and Vocational schools.Likewise at the Granary where Dave Clarke, who has since returned home to South Africa,provided workshops on making model boats

Des is an annual speaker at the Tipperary People and Places Lecture Series and needs no introduction to anybody interested in Tipperary local history. He taught in St. Anne’s secondary school in Tipperary town. He is a founder member of the Tipperary Historical Society and an annual contributor to the Tipperary Historical Journal. He is very active in both local radio and the local community. His publications include Land and violence, Land and settlement and Cashel history and guide.
