Tipu Drop / Tipu's Drop / Tippu Drop / Tippu's Drop at Nandi Hills / Nandi Betta near Devana halli,
The view from the famous Tippu Drop. This is a 90 degree drop. There are boulders at the base of the cliff about 600 feet below, and nothing to slow down an object going down this cliff. IMAGINE ????
Legend has it that Tipu Sulthan- last Independent ruler of Mysore, famous as Mysooru Huli (Tiger of Mysore) - had his prisoners executed by pushing them down this cliff.

CENTURIES OLD ANCIENT PALACE HIDDEN IN BILGI, KARNATAKA ?
After my visit to Jain Basati and Ancient Shiva Temple, we visited this wonderful ancient monument GOL BHAVI. in the Town of Bilgi.
Gol Bhavi is a very interesting historical place which is just there without any attention given by the locals or the authorities. They have not taken care of this wonderful historical monument. Its a treasure for the historians to research on.
My visit to Gol Bhavi has made me so curious that I researched about this place from book, historical experts, archaeological findings in and around this place since 1999, etc.
It is said that there are underground tunnels which are hidden or buried all over the town of Bilgi. Many locals have confirmed this to me. GOL BHAVI IS THE JUNCTION WHERE ALL THE TUNNELS MEET. But no one knows exactly where these tunnels are leading. There is a tunnel access opening in Ancient Shiva temple, Jain Basati,, Virupaksha temple as per the locals.
First of all if there are Tunnels, then the first question which needs to be answered is HOW DID THE ANCIENTS BUILD THESE TUNNELS. GOL BHAVI ITSELF HAS WITSTOOD TEST OF TIME SINCE CENTURIES.
GOL BHAVI, is estimated to be built between 14th to 16th Century during the times of Keladi Dynasty or Vijayanagara Empire. Bilgi Kingdom was very big and have ruled this region for 3 centuries.
GOL BHAVI is in the best of the condition even today as far as the architecture, construction, stone arches and pillars, the entrance stairway, the well or the mini pond etc. Believe me even after 4 to 5 centuries there is water in the well or the mini pond.
Its believed that this GOL BHAVI has multiple tunnels leading to many significant places of worship. But the main question which cam on my mind is Why did they build GOL BHAVI st this particular location which if of no significance. There is no reason to build this monument there at that location because there is nothing significance at that point that anyone wants to start there to go to the significant places it is connecting to.
This made me research more on the Tunnels being discovered related to Vijayanagara Empire. around 2011 or 2013, 5 tunnels were unearthed in fort town of Srirangpatna. These tunnels were connecting to the fort for the members of the royal family like queens or princess to access important places in the kingdom.
So made me think
weather even the Tunnels starting from Gol Bhavi is connecting to Ancient Palace which is hidden underground with centuries of time ?
OR
Is GOL BHAVI a segment of a very big palace which is hidden underground.?
These tunnels are not open for Public access and also the Authorities have prohibited any type of construction activity in and around the town of Bilgi.
Bilgi town also known as Shwetapura is designated as a HISTORICAL SITE.
THERE IS A LOT OF UNANSWERED QUESTIONS RELATED TO THIS MASSIVE KINGDOM OF BILGI. I will be revisiting this place for further analysis and collection of evidence.

Beautiful Nandi Hills
Nandi Hills, a solid monolithic mass of granite and the best scenic hill station in the vicinity of Bangalore (60 Km away). Its height is about 4,851 feet above MSL and acquires an area of 97 acres.
Nandi Hills is the birth place of rivers Arkavathi and Palar. The temperature range at Nandi Hills is about 25 to 28 Degree Celsius during summer and 8 to 10 Degree Celsius in winter. At Nandi Hills we can see Rain-fall of 100 to 150cms every year. Mahatma Gandhiji has stayed for 45 days for his health revival at this place.
History Nandi Hills gets its name from the famous Nandi temple situated atop this hill. This bull guards the outside of the Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple. Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple is the dwelling of Shiva the austere on the top of the hills and this temple was build by the Cholas. This antediluvian temple also has a dedication in the name of Sambhaji who was the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji.
The beautiful Nandi Hills, popularly known as Nandi Betta or Nandi Durga for the locals and the people of Karnataka. This hillock is situated about 60 km from Bangalore City, about 24 kms from Chikkaballapur town. Nandi is the bull in Sanskrit, Kannada and Telugu. He is the sacred abode or Vahana to Lord Shiva.
During the Chola reign, Nandi Hills was known as Ananda Giri, Hill of Happiness. Now Nandi Hills also known as Nandidurga are small flat surrounding plains near Bangalore. A fort was built during the period by the chieftains of Chikkaballapur. It was strengthened by the famous King of Mysore Tippu Sultan. This fort was considered impregnable, it covers a vast area of 97 acres and soldiers could shoot from all directions without being seen and there is the famous Tippu drop a 600 meter cliff with a huge rock landing after the drop. Prisoners and convicts during Tippu's reign were pushed off this cliff.
These hills are located 1,478 meters above the sea level. Nandi Hills before being conquered by the British forces under Lord Cornwallis was a Mysorean Fort. It was captured by the British in the year 1791. Later on the British developed the hill station and it became popular. This hill station is a famous tourist spot because it is blessed with a pleasant climate through out the year.
The flora of the hills is distinctive of high hills. Besides Coffea arabica there are some more aboriginal species. Eucalyptus is grown inside the fort which is an exotic plant. The forest around the hills acts as a substratum for the condensation of clouds and this is the reason that most of the trees are covered with water in the mornings. Many species of birds and animals can also be seen in the hills.

Tipu Sultan's Palace in Mysore or Wodiyar King palace?
Martin Kv tells us that This is not Tippu Sultan's palace. Tippu died in 1799. It is built by Mysore Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar, initiated by Maharani Kempurajamanni Vani Vilas in the year 1897 and was completed in 1912. The architect was Sir Henri Irvin.
Shankara Swamy also tells us that This is not Tippu's palace; his place is called Dharia Dhaulath and is in Srirangapattana. This Mysore palace was built by the original rulers of Mysore - great maharajas of Mysore after around 200 years after Tippu's death.
The grand summer palace of Tipu Sultan has now been converted into a museum, and it is a must-see attraction in Mysore. Magnificent figures, paintings and other artwork adorn this palace. A unique feature of the palace is that it had been constructed using pure teak wood, something that is hard to find in today’s world.
