Tirol Panorama: Die Schlacht am Bergisel 1809 im Riesenrundgemälde in Innsbruck.
Das Riesenrundgemälde ist eine Panoramadarstellung in Innsbruck. Es ist im Museum Tirol Panorama zu besichtigen. Auf mehr als 1000 Quadratmetern werden im Riesenrundgemälde inInnsbruck die Ereignisse der dritten Schlacht am Bergisel vom 13. August 1809 dargestellt, in der die Tiroler, Franzosen und Bayern schlugen. Den Auftrag zur Anfertigung des Riesenrundgemäldes erhielt Michael Zeno Diemer (1867--1939). Unterstützt wurde seine Arbeit durch Franz von Defregger (1835-1921), Franz Burger (1857-1940), W. Flaucher, A. Niedermair und A. Pätzold. Die schöpferische Idee zum Riesenpanorama hatte der Tiroler Schriftsteller Josef Calasanz Platter (1858--1905). 1896 wurde das Rundgemälde eröffnet, von der Öffentlichkeit enthusiastisch gefeiert. Es befand sich in einem extra dafür errichteten Gebäude zwischen Claudia- und Ing.-Etzel-Straße im Stadtteil Saggen, direkt an der Talstation der ehemaligen Hungerburgbahn. Am 11. September 2010 wurde das Riesenrundgemälde an seinen neuen Standort, das Tirol Panorama am Bergisel übersiedelt.
Das Tiroler Landlibell ist eine Urkunde von Kaiser Maximilian I. vom 23. Juni 1511. Es befreite die Tiroler vom Kriegsdienst außerhalb ihres Landes. Gleichzeitig verpflichtet sie aber, ihr Land selbst zu verteidigen. Noch heute sehen die Tiroler Schützen darin den Ursprung ihrer Tradition. Das Landlibell bildete einen Teil der Tiroler Landesverfassung und regelt somit die Ausgestaltung des Militärwesens. Seine Gültigkeit und Fortschreibung erstreckt sich bis ins Jahr 1918.

CASUAL SUNDAY WALK : Bergisel Panorama (Innsbruck) : Alps
Couldn't have picked a better day to walk up to Bergisel, where the famous Ski Jump is located. Once up the hill, I took the Panorama path (panoramaweg) that takes you around the ski jump and to a platform that extends several meters off the cliff. My initial plan was to go up through a cooler path down by the river, the Sillschlucht. Unfortunately that was closed due to some construction going on. You can't have everything in life, can you?

On September 25, we went on a clear day with the cable car to the mountain station of the Patscherkofel, the mountain of the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck. While hiking around the mountain we enjoyed the great views of the Inn Valley and the neighboring mountains. Once was the ride with the Patscherkofelbahn, where we take you in a film piece with down.
Am 25. September fuhren wir bei klarer Sicht mit der Seilbahn auf die Bergstation des Patscherkofels, dem Hausberg der Tyroler Landeshauptstadt Innsbruck. Beim Wandern rund um den Berg genossen wir die großartige Aussicht auf das Inntal und die benachbarte Bergwelt. Einmalig war auch die Fahrt mit der Patscherkofelbahn, wo wir Euch im Film ein Stück mit nach unten nehmen.

Innsbruck is the provincial capital of Tyrol. Located in the broad valley between high mountains, the so-called North Chain in the Karwendel Alps. It has twice hosted the Winter Olympics making it not only an interesting and beautiful situated city but the largest ski resort in the alps. It is located both close to Munich and northern Italy making it a must see alpine destination.
Innsbruck became the capital of Tyrol in 1429 and in the 15th century the city became a centre of European politics and culture as emperor Maximilian I moved the imperial court to Innsbruck in the 1490s. Many old buildings from the middle ages and modern times survived in the heart of Innsbrucks old town.
The city is well known for its sporting opportunities, especially alpine sports, as it is in the Alps and surrounded by mountains. Several ski resorts are situated inside the city territory or within short distance. Innsbruck was one of the centers of snowboard boom in the 1990's and the derived distinct subculture endured until today. The population of skateboarders, snowboarders and people alike is therefore above average and nothing unusual to the people.
This culture is also celebrated by a lot of events in and around Innsbruck especially in the winterseason, attracting (predominantly young) people from all around the world. There are two universities and several colleges in Innsbruck, with over 25,000 students altogether, (including a significant Italian population) making the city's nightlife very lively.
From the main station (Hauptbahnhof) to the city center is a relatively short and enjoyable 10 to 15 minute walk. Walk out of the Hauptbahnhof, cross the street at the train station cross walk, turn to your right, and go down to the next street to your left. Walk on this street until Maria-Theresien Strasse, then turn right toward the city center. Taking this street all the way leads to the pedestrian zone and the Golden Roof.
