Cycling the Tissington Trail in the Peak District
Had a great family day out this May bank Holiday and headed back up the Peak District National Park. Hattie and I cycled the Tissington Trail from Ashbourne up to Parsley Hay Cycle Centre. Ellen and Lexi took the dogs for a walk and then we all went to the pub for lunch!! A bit foggy on the tops which was a shame as I told them all about the amazing scenery which we couldn't see!!! I love these Cycle routes as they are traffic free, child safe (and manageable!) and go through some amazing parts of the Peak District, I can highly recommend them!
Tissington trail tunnel
Start of the Tissington Trail, we had a great family bike ride from here to Parsley Hay and back, 27 miles all told with coffee stops also thrown in.

Climb from Cromford Canal to Middleton Top, the start of the High Peak Trail in Derbyshire
The climb starts from the High Peak Junction visitor centre on the Cromford canal. A steep climb through some woodland takes you to Black Rocks, an outcrop of natural gritstone offering some great views of the surrounding area. Carrying on past that takes you to the National Stone Centre before a final steep climb to Middleton Top engine house and cycle hire, the start of the High Peak Trail. You might be pleased to know this is flat and takes you through the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District to Parsley Hay tea shop, from there you can carry on to Buxton or turn off onto the Tissington Trail to Ashbourne.
