COBH, IRELAND: The Titanic Experience | TRAVEL VLOG
We journeyed to the tiny, quaint, seaside town of Cobh, Ireland to see The Titanic Experience Museum. You're given a passenger's boarding card, and you tour the museum in the footsteps of that passenger and of the first and last passengers to leave Ireland from Cobh to travel to America. At the end, you find out if you survived. It was very well done, interesting, and poignant. Plus, the town was adorable!

Titanic exhibition, Cobh (cove), Ireland
Cobh, pronounced Cove, is near to Cork in southern Ireland and was the last place the Titanic stopped before it's fatal final voyage. The exhibition is combined with the Immigration of the people during the potato famine.
#Cobh #Ireland Cobh - Ireland ????????
Cobh (pronounced 'cove') is a charming waterfront town on a glittering estuary, dotted with brightly coloured houses and overlooked by a splendid cathedral. It's popular with Corkonians looking for a spot of R&R, and with cruise liners – each year around 90 visit the port, the second-largest natural harbour in the world (after Sydney Harbour in Australia).
It's a far cry from the harrowing Famine years when more than 70,000 people left Ireland through the port in order to escape the ravages of starvation (from 1848 to 1950, no fewer than 2.5 million emigrants passed through). Cobh was also the final port of call for the Titanic; a poignant museum commemorates the fatal voyage's point of departure.
Once known as Queenstown, after the visit of Queen Victoria in 1849.
Cobh is on the south side of Great Island. Visible from the waterfront are Haulbowline Island, once a naval base, and the greener Spike Island, formerly a prison and now a tourist attraction.

Cork’s harbour town of Cobh has been named one of the 25 most beautiful small towns in Europe by the international travel bible Condé Nast Traveler.
Cobh was ranked with Hvar, in Croatia, Interlaken, in Switzerland, and the Cinque Terre village of Vernazza, in Italy, as a must-visit destination for anyone trying to avoid the tourist crowds. Other postcard-pretty spots on the list include Rye, in England, Bled, in Slovenia, and Assos, on the Greek island of Cephalonia.
Titanic's Last Stop, Queenstown, Cobh, Cork
Queenstown, now Cobh, a stunning seaport town in Cork on the south coast of Ireland, was also the Titantic's final stop on its last and tragic voyage across the Atlantic. A total of 123 of Titanic's passengers boarded at Queenstown - only 44 survived the sinking of the Titanic. The last local Titanic survivor was from Cork (Ellen Shine) - she passed away at the age of 98 in 1993.
Dedicated to the memory of Captain Colm Morrissy (Master Mariner) whose seafaring journey ended - as Cork Harbour Pilot - in his beloved Cobh on September 3rd 2014.

Ewa and Sonia is going to Titanic Experience Cobh in Cork
Titanic Experience Cobh is located in Casement Square in the heart of Cobh Town. Our home is the original White Star Line Ticket Office a building steeped in history dating back to the early 19th century and the departure point for many thousands of White Star Line passengers. When you arrive, check-in with us at reception and let us tell you the story of those 123 passengers.
Some strange stories about Titanic:
John Coffey
John Coffey is the fascinating story of one Cobh mans escape from the Titanic tragedy. John Coffey was a 23 year old stoker working for the White Star Line Shipping Company. Having worked on Titanic’s sister ship Olympic for a time, John signed up to work on Titanic in order to gain free passage home to Cobh to visit his family. On arrival in Queenstown he hid among the mailbags and made it ashore undetected. After news of the tragedy began to unfold word of John Coffeys escape began to make headlines. As the world’s media turned its attention to him, John Coffey’s story became a little more embellished. When questioned after the tragedy he explained he jumped ship as he had a foreboding of tragedy. After his lucky escape from Titanic John Coffey went on to work on RMS Mauretania.
The Rice Familymargaret-rice
The story of Margeret Rice and her 5 young sons is one of the most heartbreaking stories of all the 123 Queenstown passenger stories. Margaret Rice was 39 years old and was travelling 3rd class with her five young sons, Albert aged 10, George aged 9, Eric aged 7, Arthur aged 4 and Eugene just 2 years old. Margaret had returned to Ireland after the tragic death of her husband two years earlier. She was originally from Co. Westmeath and spent two years working there as a housekeeper with her young sons. Margaret had made the decision to return to America with her sons and booked passage on Titanic. Eyewitness reports give us a heartfelt and moving image of Margaret with her five children on board. The family is reported to have been last seen on board the deck. Margaret clutching her 2 year old son, with all four other children grasping at her skirt. Sadly, Margaret and all her five children were lost in the tragedy of Titanic.

Exploring Cobh While Crashing Our Drone! - Ep. 9
This episode was full of surprises! We were so excited to get some really great weather which would give us a great opportunity to visit the Ballycotton Cliffs. This turned out to be surprise number one -- because it was a holiday there were no buses headed out that way. So, we decided on a train ride out to Cobh, Ireland where we were hoping to get some good seaside drone footage. Surprise number two: the drone decided to crash itself. But the third, and best surprise was Cobh itself. We were really lucky to have such a beautiful day in such a beautiful town.
If you're looking for weekend trips or cities to see in Cork, Cobh is a great choice (just try to go when there are no cruise ships!).

Today, I arrived from a cruise ship in Cobh, Ireland (Cork). I hopped off the ship and tried to get lost. I did O.K.
I asked a local where he would go if he only had an hour - he said to go to the St Colman's Cathedral, where there is an amazing view. He was right. After climbing a big ass hill, I found the church. Pretty cool!
I walked back down the big hill and found a place that I can drink a Guinness called Rob Roy Bar.
After that I simply walked around a bit before I needed to take off on the ship - pretty much just soak it all in :)
