First outing with my new Canon Legria R46. Quite impressed! Zoom is amazing and stabiliser works good.
This is a quick look at the flooding that happened just down the road in Titchfield where the River Meon passes the Old Mill (now Pub and Restaurant). At the end there are a few clips of how the bad storm, so violent elsewhere along the cost affected Titchfield Haven and the effect of being Sheltered by the Isle of White has on our micro-climate here.

Reginald Porter Brown, Forum Cinema, Southampton, TOC Meeting 1968, Compton 3/10 + Melotone
Reginald Porter-Brown was resident organist at the Forum Southampton for many years and this recording was made during a Theatre Organ Club meeting in the cinema in 1968. Although the audio quality is poor, it shows many examples of his unique style of playing.
The Forum Cinema, Southampton was built in 1935 as a 1900 seat theatre, complete with dressing rooms and shallow stage, but with a wide proscenium opening. A 3 manual Compton organ with 10 ranks of pipes, and complete with one of the first electro-static Melotone units, was installed.
The cinema was damaged during the war but was qickly restored and reopened, but it closed in 1971 for it to be twinned. Like all ABC cinemas it went through several owners and finally closed in 1991. In 2000 it was converted into a large bar, but by 2019 it was a nightclub with a small fringe theatre in the former cafe area, which uses an entrance at the rear of the building.
The organ was removed in 1971 and went through several private owners, being installed in 2 residences, and in storage for many years both in between and since. However, it has now been installed by a team of enthusiasts in the Titchfield Festival Theatre
It can be seen and heard playing in the Titchfield Festival Theatre here (some time ago)
After it was installed in 2017 much time has been was spent fixing wind leaks and tuning the 1090 pipes. There is a Facebook group for the organ at
STOPS – the Scottish Theatre Organ Preservation Society, founded on 29th October 1972, is Scotland’s oldest cinema/theatre organ society, and is a registered Scottish charity (SC 018217).
We own and operate the New Palace Theatre Organ Heritage Centre in Greenlaw, Scotland and present an annual season of silent films with live accompaniment.
