Tithe Barn at Lacock Village
Prior to the dissolution of the monasteries, this Tithe Barn was attached to Lacock Abbey. Constructed in the 14th century the barn was in all probability built into the precinct wall of the Abbey.
The medieval settlement of Lacock stood near the banks of the river Avon and at the edge of Melksham Forest, one of the royal hunting forests. The settlement grew with the founding of the abbey in the 13th century. Most of the inhabitants of the village were at this time tenants of the Abbey. For rent they would pay tithes (a proportion of corn, fleeces etc.) which were collected in the Tithe Barn.
Lacock Tithe Barn survives little altered over the years. It underwent considerable restoration in the 20th century, the roof having been re-tiled with felting added under certain areas and some roof timbers having been replaced, however, in essence the barn must appear much as it did when built.
Since the dissolution of the monasteries, the barn has been put to good uses. It has been used to store farm machinery, as a market hall during the 18th century and during the 19th century it was used for storing grain for a threshing machine which stood in the doorway.

Andy's National Trust Travel Blogs: Great Coxwell Tithe Barn, 13th Century
There are 500+ places of interest in the UK under the National Trust banner and I will be attempting to visit as many as I can, reporting as I do all the important stuff relative to accessibility.
In this episode, I visit a small village near Farringdon where a Tithe Barn is situated. It appears in the National Trust guidebook, with a small entry and no specific access details. From experience, I guessed correctly that entry on my scooter would not be possible.
But for the sake of the video, I went on foot to show the impressive structure.

Places to see in ( Lacock - UK )
Lacock is a village and civil parish in the county of Wiltshire, England, 3 miles from the town of Chippenham. The village is owned almost in its entirety by the National Trust and attracts many visitors by virtue of its unspoiled appearance. The parish includes Bowden Hill, a small village 1 mile (1.6 km) to the east of Lacock, and the hamlet of Notton, the same distance to the northwest.
Lacock is mentioned in the Domesday Book, with a population of 160–190; with two mills and a vineyard. Lacock Abbey was founded on the manorial lands by Ela, Countess of Salisbury and established in 1232; and the village — with the manor — formed its endowment to God and St Mary. Lacock was granted a market and developed a thriving woolen industry during the Middle Ages. Reybridge, and a packhorse ford, remained the only crossing points of the River Avon until the 18th century.
At the dissolution, the Abbey and estate, including the village were sold to William Sharington, later passing into the Talbot family by marriage. Most of the surviving houses are 18th century or earlier in construction. There is a 14th-century tithe barn, the medieval St Cyriac's Church, an inn dating from the 15th century and an 18th-century lock-up.
In 1916 Charles Henry Fox Talbot bequeathed the Lacock estate to his niece, Matilda Gilchrist-Clark, who took the name of Talbot. The estate – comprising 284 acres (1.15 km2), the Abbey and the village – was given to the National Trust in 1944 by Matilda Talbot. Lacock has two public houses and a number of shops in its High Street including a grocery store, a bakery, gift shops and a National Trust shop. A scarecrow festival is held annually in Lacock and is popular with visitors from the local area. All monies raised are donated to Lacock Primary School.
( Lacock - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Lacock . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Lacock - UK

A walk around Lacock village & Lacock Abbey cloisters
The picture postcard Lacock Abbey and village (Wiltshire, England) were donated to the National Trust by Matilda Talbot in 1944. Follow this visit to Lacock starting with the Fox Talbot museum showing the contribution to the development of photograpy by William Henry Fox Talbot who in 1835 made the earliest known surviving example of a photographic negative of the oriel window in the south gallery of the Abbey. Next a walk around Lacock Abbey and into the cloisters, with parts unaltered for over 700 years. Some interior sequences in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets were filmed at Lacock. The abbey visit is followed by a stroll through the village with its 14th century tithe barn and quaint shops and a 2 mile walk around the Abbey grounds including a thatcher at work on a cottage roof.
Middle Littleton Tythe Barn NT 06.09.11
Middle Littleton Tythe Barn, also known as Middle Littleton Tithe Barn, is a grade I listed 12th or 13th-century tithe barn in the village of Middle Littleton, near Evesham in Worcestershire. It is one of the largest and most notable tithe barns in England. The barn is constructed of a mixture of Blue Lias and Cotswold stones, with a stone tile roof. It was originally built for Evesham Abbey, which was the third largest abbey in England. There is some uncertainty about when the barn was built. The National Trust describes it as 13th-century, whereas English Heritage describe in as 14th-century[1][2] The discrepancy may be the result of a radiocarbon date of around 1250 conflicting with evidence that the barn was built in 1376 by Abbot John Ombersley of Evesham Abbey.
The barn was built to hold tithes collected for Evesham Abbey, which was the third largest abbey in England before the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The size of the barn is an indication of the importance of the abbey at this time. It is now owned and operated by the National Trust.

History
The history of Lacock Village is very much linked to that of the Abbey. The village dates back to the 13th century. Lacock developed a thriving wool industry during the Middle Ages. Together with the Abbey, the village was given to the National Trust in 1944 by Matilda Talbot.

Here's a little promotional video we put together for Cripps Barn, which showcases The Tithe Barn, Bolton Abbey, a brand new wedding venue opening in 2018.
'Built in the 1600s, The Tithe Barn is located in one of the most romantic settings in England, with a breath-taking backdrop overlooking the Priory ruins and the River Wharfe. Being one of the biggest timbered aisled barns in the north of England, the barn will provide one of the largest, most spectacular exclusive-use spaces in which to get married.'
