Toadstool Park in Nebraska
Toadstool Park is located in northwestern Nebraska near the town of Crawford. The park is considered to be the badlands of Nebraska. It has many interesting geologic formations. It is operated by the U.S. forest service. You will need to contribute three dollars into a small box when visiting the park. You can camp there for the night, but I am guessing it would be a pretty windy night. There are bathrooms, but no running water. It is a beautiful area to explore. This video was taken around 6:00 am. If you plan to spend the night, I would recommend making a reservation at Ft. Robinson which is in proximity to the Toadstool Park.

Toadstool Geological Park, Nebraska
Toadstool Geologic Park is said to be the badlands of Nebraska or the desert of the Pine Ridge. The park is open 24 hours a day. Toadstool Park is north of Crawford, Nebraska; to get to the park, take Nebraska Highway 2/Nebraska Highway 71 to Toadstool Road. There is a 1-mile loop trail within the park. There are many fossils along the trail; removing fossils is not allowed. Many fossils of large prehistoric animals such as entelodonts and hyaenodons have been found here.

Toadstool park has a small number of nonreservable camping spots that are nicely spaced, with honor system payment on site. Toilets are available but no running water or power. Access to the park is via dirt roads that can be difficult after heavy rain. Beautiful place to explore, where we found very friendly other campers.

Toadstool Geological Park
Loren Eiseley's work with the South Party searching for fossils on the high plains took him to the remote and desolate region of Toadstool Park. Returning to camp one evening, he saw a flight of migrating warblers passing through this rugged and seemingly lifeless landscape. In this memorable passage from The Judgement of the Birds, he recalls how this flight of warblers caused him to reflect upon the nature of life, and the mystery of its emergence from, and return to, the chemical constituents of the rocky and dusty terrain.

A cowboy looking fella told me this was worth driving out to. It's 14 miles down a very bumpy dirt/gravel/sand road into the Oglala Grasslands.
He was right.
I stayed 4 nights. $5/night (1/2 that with senior pass). Primitive camping ....but oh my god the views were amazing.
This video is mostly of the scenery with some great musical background...but I also took a 3 mile hike back into seldom seen territory. The Bison Trail leads to the Hudson-Meng Research and Education center (I wasn't to impressed with that part)

KrotoCrane Test at Toadstool Geological Park near Chadron, Nebraska
I had a really cool place to test my recently built KrotoCrane, I took it out to Toadstool Park and got these nice shots. I have several others along with photos that I will piece together later. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see much of what I was shooting very well until after I got back indoors. I lucked out on a few shots though!
