Places to see in ( Canterbury - UK )
Places to see in ( Canterbury - UK )
Canterbury, a cathedral city in southeast England, was a pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages. Ancient walls, originally built by the Romans, encircle its medieval centre with cobbled streets and timber-framed houses. Canterbury Cathedral, founded 597 A.D., is the headquarters of the Church of England and Anglican Communion, incorporating Gothic and Romanesque elements in its stone carvings and stained-glass windows.
Canterbury is a historic English cathedral city and UNESCO World Heritage Site, which lies at the heart of the City of Canterbury, a local government district of Kent, England. Canterbury lies on the River Stour.
The Archbishop of Canterbury is the primate of the Church of England and the worldwide Anglican Communion owing to the importance of St Augustine, who served as the apostle to the pagan Kingdom of Kent around the turn of the 7th century. The city's cathedral became a major focus of pilgrimage following the 1170 martyrdom of Thomas Becket, although it had already been a well-trodden pilgrim destination since the murder of St Alphege by the men of King Canute in 1012. A journey of pilgrims to Becket's shrine served as the frame for Geoffrey Chaucer's 14th century classic The Canterbury Tales.
Canterbury is a popular tourist destination: consistently one of the most-visited cities in the United Kingdom, the city's economy is heavily reliant upon tourism. The city has been occupied since Paleolithic times and served as the capital of the Celtic Cantiaci and Jute Kingdom of Kent. Many historical structures fill the area, including a city wall founded in Roman times and rebuilt in the 14th century, the ruins of St Augustine's Abbey and a Norman castle, and the oldest extant school in the world, the King's School. Modern additions include the Marlowe Theatre and the St Lawrence Ground, home of the Kent County Cricket Club. There is also a substantial student population, brought about by the presence of the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, the University for the Creative Arts, and the Girne American University Canterbury campus. Canterbury remains, however, a small city in terms of geographical size and population, when compared with other British cities.

Hoseasons Reach Lodge Retreat In Canterbury, Kent
As far as Hoseasons goes this location was not my favourite I think because I've stayed previously at Cheddar Gorge Hoseasons and it was amazing so my expectations were set rather high, this location was more of a chilled one - Canterbury Reach Lodge Retreat.
The accommodation on site was very luxurious and cannot fault this as it was tidy, spacious and perfect for our needs, just a shame we couldn't have gotten one with a hot tub. To be honest there was nothing onsite to keep the children occupied in the way of nature walks and parks which were in walking distance, you had to drive to get to anywhere of interest. And there was only a small shop for the kids to go to. We did find a small picnic area however that's all there was and I know this because my son and I went for a walk - we walked around the whole retreat and was back in about 15 minutes and we did leave no stone unturned in our walk.
There were a number of childrens games inside the cabin, however all games had pieces missing from them which meant they couldn't be used... luckily for us as a large family we always come prepared with swing ball, scooters, footballs and our own sets of board games aswell as the childrens electronic devices...
The children loved going up and down on their scooters however this didn't go down too well with other residents onsite as it seemed to scare them as the kids were zooming up and down on them so we had to stop them from using them and taking them to the beach front to use instead... this was a shame however understandable.
I think as we have stayed on a caravan site previously and kids were on scooters all the time with no issues we presumed it would be ok however not for this type of stay.
I will say on check out a little touch that I quite liked personally was that we all each got a free bottle of water for our car journey.. something different but effective.
For our stay I would give this a 3 star ⭐⭐⭐ out of a possible 5 only because it wasnt as child friendly as I would of liked. however the accomodation itself was great that couldn't be faulted at all...
Hoseasons do many locations and some fantastic breaks we did once stay at Hoseasons Cheddar Gorge which was extremly child friendly so would totally recommend going there however im sure more of the locations may be ok too. Check out their website for holidays

This phenomenal song was first performed by the legendary Simon and Garfunkel. 'The Sound Of Silence' was later reborn when Disturbed released their own hard rock rendition. Through the guidance of Rick Benbow and Mike Wilbury at yoursoundtube.com Jadyn has developed her own interpretation of this iconic tune. Rick Benbow arranged the perfect instrumental accompaniment with Sina and Mike completing the drum and guitars. The combination of the elements gives this song the smooth tone of the original as well as the 'edge' of the version performed by Disturbed.
This song is included on the cover album YourSongBook. The album is currently available on iTunes and Spotify at the links below:

Symphony (featuring Zara Larsson) by Clean Bandit
Cover by One Voice Children’s Choir
Lyrics:
I’ve been hearing symphonies
Before all I heard was silence
A rhapsody for you and me
And every melody is timeless
Life was stringing me along
Then you came and you cut me loose
Was solo singing on my own
Now I can’t find the key without you
And now your song is on repeat
And I’m dancin' on to your heartbeat
And when you’re gone, I feel incomplete
So if you want the truth
I just wanna be part of your symphony
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
Symphony
Like a love song on the radio
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
I’m sorry if it’s all too much
Every day you’re here, I’m healing
And I was runnin' out of luck
I never thought I’d find this feeling
'Cause I’ve been hearing symphonies
Before all I heard was silence
A rhapsody for you and me
(A rhapsody for you and me)
And every melody is timeless
And now your song is on repeat
And I’m dancin' on to your heartbeat
And when you’re gone, I feel incomplete
So if you want the truth
I just wanna be part of your symphony
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
Symphony
Like a love song on the radio
Will you hold me tight and not let go?

Graffiti in the Westgate Gardens
The Westgate Gardens are a popular place where people can sit in quiet surroundings and enjoy the flowers and plants. But only meters from the areas of lush green grass are walls covered in hideous graffiti under the Rheims Way bridge. Ex-City Councillor Martin Vye believes this will stop the work of continuing the footpath along the Great Stour Way into the Gardens.

Painting Background Scenes of Elliot's Adventure in Canterbury Book
THE BACKGROUND IMAGES
The background scenes are depicted in broad, messy, strokes of paint and charcoal sketches. This messy paint method reminded me of my toddler's finger painting and made the entire book feel as if each adventure was imagined directly from a young child's mind.
