Well I'm back home from my trip in Japan but just felt that i should share some of the pictures that I and the rest of the participants took from our 3 week course in Hanamaki City of the Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
The video was put together from over 3,000 pictures but off course we had to pick and choose the best ones, some of them were also very similar but all in all we tried to capture the true essence of our course and our various experiences from making sushi, japanese craft, cultural dances and off course agriculture, the main purpose of our visit.
The video was mainly put together by Gary Ramirez, the participant from Belize with assistance from the other island participants (Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Jamaica, Suriname).
I hope everyone can enjoy the video.

A trip to Obihiro in Hokkaido: A long-running manju shop loved by residents of the kingdom of sweets
Takahashi Manjuya has been loved by Obihiro residents for more than sixty years and is famous for its imagawayaki, a Japanese confectionery. Despite selling as many as 2,000 in a single day, Takahashi Manjuya's imagawayaki is always served fresh and never prepared in advance. The shop offers two different flavors—sweet bean jam and cheese. The sweetness of the homemade bean jam is just right, while the cheese flavor is reputed to be addictive thanks to the exquisite harmony created by the saltiness of the cheese and the sweetness of the batter.

Videoblog No. 12 - 04.08.12 - Train - Obihiro to Minamichitose - Limited Express
Today I'm going to return to video mode and put up another of the huge quantity of videos I have which were shot through train windows. I just looked at my video folder and realised that I have lots of these to post, so I'd better make a start!
We started our time in Japan in the Northern island of Japan, Hokkaido. To get there we flew straight up after arriving at Tokyo, quite a bit of effort after surviving the several hours flight from London to Rome and just over 11 hours from Rome to Tokyo. Unfortunately we also had to transfer to a different airport on the other side of Tokyo to fly out to Hokkaido, so as you can expect we were rather exhausted at the end of our journey when we finally arrived in Hokkaido!
After staying in Hokkaido for two weeks, we decided to take the train back down to Tokyo, partly because we had a Japan Rail Pass which gave us unlimited travel for a week so it was cheap, and also because the route passes across Hokkaido then goes under the sea to mainland Japan and all the way down to Tokyo passing by all manner of interesting views. The journey itself took 13 hours and was spread across 4 trains, starting on slower local trains then finishing with a super-fast shinkansen bullet train for the final leg of the journey from Aomori to Tokyo!
This video is from the first leg of the journey, travelling between the cities of Obihiro and Minamichitose on a local Limited Express service. This is what more rural Hokkaido looks like from the train window!
